  1. I had not had much dealings with the BA until this year when we put the boat back in the water at the beginning of the season following major works at Cox’s Boatyard, who are brilliant. I know that fees are due at the beginning of the year but we did not know whether or not she would be back in the water this year and therefore held off until the last moment. She went back onto her mooring on the 31st March and when we went to see her on the 1st April a ranger had already posted a ticket on her. Far quicker than a traffic warden in central London on commission. Perhaps the time has come to hit the BA where it hurts and to withhold paying fees until they sit up and listen to the stakeholders.
  2. Thank you everyone for making Claudia, Barney and me so welcome at the weekend. We all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and were greatly impressed with all hard work that everyone has put into their boats but now have the problem of ensuring that Y618 is looking better for next year and up to the same standard. Wishing you all hassle free cruising and look forward to seeing you on the water. Philip
  3. Claudia, Barney (the lab) and I are looking forward to meeting everyone and will hopefully be tagging along as long as the alternator has been fixed.
  4. Please can someone help me as I am confused. BroadAmbition has very kindly provide us with his passage plan to arrive at Great Yarmouth at 19:57 hrs but according to Norfolk Broads Tide Table it shows low tide at 13:37 hrs. Have i missed something and do I need to redo my passage plan? Many thanks Philip Tide times.pdf
  5. I have heard that the BA are getting quite strict about people ignoring "No Mooring" signs but to sink your boat seems a bit extreme in my opinion.

Hi Ian Claudia and I now have a bit of time with our children having grown up, some of the time, and I have always pottered around in boats, mainly of the sailing variety of which Claudia is not so keen, so we thought that we would go down the motor line just to get away from the usual hassle of our businesses. Didn't originally intend to buy a classic but she has nice lines and seemed ideal for a couple and although she needs some work, it can be done over a few years whilst still being able to use her. Philip
  7. Good morning We have just acquired Anglian Queen (Y618), a 1951 Broads motor cruiser built by Pegg Marine and we will be bringing her back up to standard over the next few years with our base at Cox's Boatyard at Barton Turf. We are looking forward to many a trip on the Broads and meeting other forum members but in the meantime does anyone know of an organisation or club for classic motor cruiser owners. The VWBA doesn't seem to exist anymore. Many thanks
