  1. Single Parent Hiring Boats

Seems to me this is discriminating against one parent families. What next, refusing couples where one partner is in some way handicapped, and what would be the dividing line? Does arthritis count against you? As ever, Common Sense is the victim here. Maybe restrict solo handling to a selection of smaller, more easily manageable boats for those with demonstrable experience. And no, any kind of shared database is just not feasible due to privacy, data protection laws and Russian hackers.

  5. I am puzzled by the fact that barely a mile from Hickling Broad is a carp pond with daily tickets. Apart that the fact that to me that's a bit like like shaking apples from a tree, why would anyone choose that over fishing from the broad or local rivers? Is it a problem of access to prepared and maintained sites away from moorings which might be provided by daily fees over and above the national license?

  8. Here We Go Again! / An Apple a day

The Council would not want the additional costs of maintaining the land. If it can be made common land there are a whole different range of historical laws and protections which would apply. Many communities do this to prevent unwanted housing and wind farm developments.
  9. Here We Go Again! / An Apple a day

It's incredibly difficult to get change of use away from agricultural to amenity land - unless it suits the Council's own interests of course. If it were me I might look into turning it into common or community land.
  10. There is no need to seek full NP status. Just like the EU changes are made gradually and surreptitiously not by making or changing any laws but by regulations devised and enacted by an unelected and unaccountable quango quoting non-verifiable "scientific studies" by unnamed "leading experts", to the point where there is no discernible difference to a change in the law.
  11. We'll find out if it matters if the Broads wins the vote over the actual National Parks. How will all the other willing volunteers and selfless donors feel about being beaten by an organisation which is not legally a NP? Yet another gaffe by the incredibly biased, Green Party governed and EU sponsored BBC. Sent from my Nexus 9 using Tapatalk
  12. 50 Shades Of Wood

Added value is great for the manufacturer if they can find the customers who can afford it. Truth is, the cost of traditional workmanship is too great for today's average client and I find it surprising that no-one has come up with an innovative design using space-age materials to produce a really practical and attractive solution at a more affordable price. 13. 50 Shades Of Wood

That ain't no plastic, dude - it just goes to show how modern boats have failed to adequately reproduce the glory and character of the real wooden boat. If we can't manage to build them today we must be able to come up with something better than obviously fake wood. Sent from my Nexus 9 using Tapatalk
  14. 50 Shades Of Wood

It's a popular idea to continue the traditional theme of wooden boat interior design, but when you've looked at several dozen prospective boats with faced ply and formica-laminated cupboards and furniture it does start to get very "samey", even boring. "Seen one, seen 'em all". Has no-one designed something modern, with pastel or bright coloured surfaces perhaps', or maybe a "distressed" paintwork effect? What would you suggest? This could well be true but the article is in fact pure speculation. Sent from my Nexus 9 using Tapatalk
