NOTICE TO MARINERS
SUNKEN VESSEL IN SE APPROCHES TO LOWESTOFT HARBOUR
Mariners and Port-Users are advised that this morning, 6th July, at approx. 0320hrs
BST, a decommissioned tug, ‘Ella’, sunk while under tow, in the following position:-
52° 23. 64’N, 001° 48.96’E - approx. 2.1’ SE from the East Barnard Light Buoy.
It is reported that the sunken vessel still has approx. 110m of tow line attached, with a
20ltr drum attached to the end of it.
THLV Alert will be attending scene today to assess requirements for marking this new
wreck. Further information will be provided once this has been addressed. Humber
Coastguard have issued a WZ notice to notify mariners of this hazard.
Mariners are requested to navigate with caution in this area, and to give the wreck
position a wide berth.

Further to my e-mail below, please find attached NTM No. 18 of 2017 with corrected information regarding a sunken vessel in SE approaches to Lowestoft Harbour.  NTM No 17 is hereby cancelled.
