Richardsons Bargains 2017 End Of Season Boats

Recommended Posts

Thanks for the warning... but too late to stop the last event.

On Friday my mobility scooter attacked me big time.

I was loading the mobility scooter up the ramp into the car, and it wasn't quite aligned right,  so I reversed it back, unfortunately the speed control was set higher than normal, and the scooter went one way, off the ramp,  and I was catapulted over the scooter, I hit the tarmac with my head, nearly causing concussion, and badly grazed my right hip.

Then I realised I couldn't move my left arm... it was clearly broken.

The break was just below the replacement shoulder prothesis, which was done 2.5 years ago

With osteoarthritis, and damage caused by the cancer in the bone, pinning was not an option.

We were shocked to hear the words...

" There's not much we can do !"

Basiclly treatment is to put the arm in a sling and "hope" it sets itself... no plaster, no support... just wait and see !!! back to the specialist in 2 weeks.

I am not happy.

A serious fall has been on the cards, as I am getting more wobbly by the day.

Sorry to hear this Richard, here hoping it does set itself sooner rather than later. One word of advice dont kick it.... as it might then break your foot.

Charlie

lol...

I do tend to not retaliate on inanimate objects, as I will then have to spend time fixing those too lol. OR WORSE... having to buy replacements...

I learnt that from my Dad, he had "Blast and set fire to it moments" as tools and items were put into orbit, resulting in third party damage as well as damage to the tools etc.lol.

How much would you charge to fit a bow protection shield (or whatever it's called) to an Elysian bounty? Well you did say "Make your enquiries".

I will find out if I can find it! do you tend to crash into stuff or is it to cover damage? in which case we could sort the damage out

Often the butt of many a joke but the "bathtub " style seems to have done quite well in sales terms

Most probably because they are so practical , I'm not a fan in anyway but I can easily see why they would appeal to others .

It is one of my proudest boasts that I have never hired or had a holiday afloat in a 'Bath Tub'  Long may that continue.  However I too can see the appeal of them and fully understand why some crews love them.  Also they have got many a family afloat to enjoy the Broads, sometimes on a restricted budget, and for that alone they deserve respect

This was my introduction to the broads mid 80s outside the kings head wroxham and yes its a Richardson's boat , from memory about 40' and the index number looks to be E 11 , so there's a challenge for someone identifying her she might still be around who knows :default_biggrin:.

Outside the Kings Head at Wroxham !!! - You extracting the urine or what Ricardo? :default_rofl:

It is of course outside the Bridge Inn at Acle, the previous bridge structure to the one we have now, that I and many remember.

The craft looks to be 35ft long and is a 'Bourne 35' Hull if I'm not mistaken, a cut down size of the Bourne 40 that 'B.A' spawned of course

According to Craigs database she is one of 'B.A's sisters.......

That's what I thought she was defiantly bigger than 35' I'm totally convinced that's  wroxham I remember mooring it and I'm sure the only time we stopped at acle was before the bridge heading south on the ex shop side  , certainly had a GRP hull no doubt about that though topsides are timber .

That certainly looks like Acle to me, as Griff says, taken with the Bridge Inn behind the camera. I'm always happy to be proven wrong though...:)

The boat(again according to Craigs database) is a 1970 incarnation originally called Star Victor 1 but listed as a Star Supreme design, later known as Supreme Gem at Richardsons...

E11 - Yep I concede there, the number of windows aft was throwing me I glanced and saw only two but there are indeed three (Pay more attention Griffin) the fore end is identical in shape to 'B.A' too of course.

The Bridge however - Just look at the width of the span, never mind the headroom, Wroxham bridge has never been that big in a million years.  It's definitely the former Bridge structure at Acle - Put my mortgage on it!  May I respectfully suggest you have a re-think and totally convince yersen otherwise!

I'll conceded on the bridge it is 30+ yrs ago after all and I can see your point just don't remember mooring there ( must have been  uneventful or too long on the pub !) .

Obviously the next thing is she still about time to check with BA , that said it  could be elsewhere .

I think it's definitely Acle but looks to me like outside the shop with the old Anchorcraft in the background (ie not the Bridge Inn). Happy to be proven wrong of course. :default_biggrin:

Bit of a topic drift...........:default_norty:

Now where's that spare 23 grand I had tucked under the mattress..........:default_stinky:

Yes, Acle outside the shop that was on the upstream side.

It makes me smile when I read the word 'bathtubs' because it conjures up an image of an actual floating bath. Actually the term doesn't do the forward steer design justice - it's a brilliant design, especially on the majority of the north Broads where it's tree-lined so you're not disadvantaged by the low view. I will, however, agree with what Robin said on one of his videos whilst he was on one of the south's open areas - "You can't see sh**"!

When I was young, my late father had a different word for forward steers,  "buses", initially refusing to hire one.  One year however when I was a teenager we booked late and the best available was an Alpha 32 forward steer and he and I both appreciated them from then on.
