However I must gripe that I didn't figure on the "scores on the draws" section. I can only assume that it was because the 1.5 points I totalled was 1 for turning up and half for sympathy, therefore worthy of being swept under the carpet.

Scoring the quiz is a flipping nightmare, especially with random discussions about dog flatulence distracting your attention!  You should insist on Steve giving you that mark as a starter on the next one and chuck teddies if he doesn't!

When it was my turn to run the quiz a few years ago now, Jill R would be there making sure I kept the score correctly, it is very difficult sometimes.

 I find the easiest way is a spreadsheet, it even totals the scores up

I just use the back of an envelope and tally marks, not exactly state of the art.
