Ok folks it's bad enough they've removed most of the bins round the Broads, but now from April 1st......

For ONE 80 litre sack

•Unsorted/non-recyclable DIY waste - £7.20
•Flat glass - £5.20 (not recyclable at Mile Cross recycling centre)
•Rubble - £4.70
•Plasterboard - £7.60 (£12.60 at Mile Cross)
•Timber - £6.40
•Scrap metal - £6

 

Small car

  • Unsorted/non-recyclable DIY waste - £37.20
  • Flat glass - £18 (not recyclable at Mile Cross recycling centre)
  • Rubble - £22.80
  • Plasterboard - £52.80 (£98 at Mile Cross)
  • Timber - £36
  • Scrap metal - £19.20

Large estate car

  • Unsorted/non-recyclable DIY waste - £79.20
  • Flat glass - £36 (not recyclable at Mile Cross recycling centre)
  • Rubble - £45.60
  • Plasterboard - £114 (£221 at Mile Cross)
  • Timber - £73.20
  • Scrap metal - £36

If I take it in My landrover: ( classed as a commercial  vehicle like a transit) see the above link for car loads.

•Unsorted/non-recyclable DIY waste - £182.40
•Flat glass - £74.40 (not recyclable at Mile Cross recycling centre)
•Rubble - £97.20
•Plasterboard - £270 (£539 at Mile Cross)
•Timber - £168
•Scrap metal - £76.60

 

The council claims this won't lead to more fly tipping,

Down here they say you need a licence for a van, and pay for the privilege. 

Haven't been stopped yet, technically our high top Renault Traffic is a van - we use it as a Recreational Vehicle complete with pull out awning on the side (oh and it is Maroon!). 

I would argue the toss if a 'Jobs Worth' appeared at our local recycling area. 

It does seem wierd though to be asked to pay to recycle, in this day and age, especially with all the who-har recently about plastic in the sea.

down here we have height barriers, I can barely make it under them in the volvo with a sofa on the roof (dont ask me how I know)

Could be a bit noisy!   Fortunately none here at the recycling areas.  Good job, I am paranoid about height barriers ......
