Hourly Labour Rate

Recommended Posts

Can anyone tell me what they would expect the going rate to be for 1 hours labour for a marine engineer to fit a simple part to a boat.

What would you think a broads boatyard would charge?

£40-50-60-70-80-90-100 per hour or more?

If your talking just labour then around £35 - 40 per hour would be around right, but I suspect it is not that simple.

well if you want the forum rapid response team I believe the going rate is 3 bacon butties and unlimited tea/coffee.

I pay £45 per hour plus vat for my repairs. I know a lot charge more than this. About same rate per hour plumbers charge.

Rules on advertising do not allow me to directly do that, nor could I cope with a large influx of enquiries, but i am not hard to find should people wish.

I would also point out there are other people out there not charging the earth, Toby Cox in Stalham would be my first recommendation.

There are limitations on where I can work, although the high level insurance gains entrance to most marina's there are some that simply do not allow contractors on, and depending on where the boat is and there is willingness to move it or not, depends on if I can be competitive with lifts and antifoul and the likes, some places I cannot compete with in this area, Sabeena for one beat me by a long way for antifoul in the Wroxham area and I do send people to them for this (just be wary of them upselling on other services).
