  1. I think that's entirely unfair, Strowager. "Newcomers" as you call them are just that and are bound by their perceived lack of knowledge and what the yards tell them. Your final paragraph might show a pretty drastic lack of appreciation of just how daunting it all can be for "newcomers", if they didn't know you better. In fact they wouldn't cope, as probably many "experienced" Broads helms wouldn't, either.
  2. Certainly not a problem on Surligham Broad and it's beautifully surrounded by trees!
  3. We had all our windows re-furbished last year by Tony Burford in Brundall. We were well pleased! He specialises in marine windows only and is very approachable. http://www.yell.com/biz/tony-burford-marine-windows-norwich-5792368/
  4. Hi, roo2, and welcome to the forum from us. With that list I wish you good luck or very deep pockets!
  5. Just Lovely, Jill, you tell 'em how it is! :clap
  6. Good Luck with your new purchase, Frank. Where will you moor this one?
  7. Quite right, Dave... the Ferry House at Surlingham is a prime example.
  8. I promised Griff LOTS of beer at next year's Spring/Summer Meet if he took a few close ups of it! :clap
  9. Welcome aboard from us too, Chris..... relax and chill to your heart's content!
  10. A very warm 'Welcome Aboard' the NBN, Glimma, from us.
  11. Really good news for Riccos and the Norfolk Broads in general! :clap
  12. Ron, Hi. I've lived in Norfolk for 35 years now but I'm coming to my old "home" this morning for the 62nd reunion of the 'Class of 52' of Grimsby Wintringham Grammar School........................ It's a small world!
  13. I thought that was only in the "Holiday Season", Peter! Spider, exactly my thought when I read the title!
  14. And a warm "Welcome Aboard" from us, Pia! I built our first boat from marine ply and bits scrounged out of the tip near Stanton where Shetland Boats dumped left-overs... but she was ours and we managed to get 5 of us into an 18ft boat!
  15. Ian, even with my knuckle-grazing arms, it just ain't possible to look out of that window and steer at the same time! Yes I can see out a bit if I open the canopy, but not if it's raining!
  16. I wish it was, Jon! Unfortunately our helm seat backs directly onto the continuation of the galley work-top (now why can't I find a pic?). And the forward sliding window slides back not beside the helm, but behind it. To reach it you have to lean over the worktop..... just not possible to then easily reach the controls from that position unless you're young or a contortionist!
  17. That's a great start to life on the NBN, mickey... Welcome Aboard!
  18. Jill wrote an article on that, Glenn.. I'm just off out for a pint or three and I'll try to look it up for you when/(if) I get back!
  19. I have seen them once or twice before but I've never been able to get such a picture as this! :clap
  20. Any pics of your yacht as it was/is, watershed, please? And may we have a name or do you prefer watershed?
