  1. Here's one I took an hour ago... anyone know the name of the pub I was in?
  2. Welcome aboard, Tim, from us. Have a great Holiday!
  3. Doug, Hi I stand in complete awe of your determinatiion and ability! :bow
  4. Has that made it any more floppy, Mark?
  5. I just sit here in admiration, Alan... :clap Just how many hundreds (or will it run into thousands?) of man-hours will you both have put into her over the year when you've finally finished?
  6. They usually appear the way they are at source, Doug. Any ideas, Jonzo?
  7. Do you remember Brian Close being brought out of retirement to face the Windies quickies (and Michael Holding in particular)? No helmet and he just chested their bouncers away.... a hard Yorkshireman indeed! :shocked
  8. Great blog, Mate. :clap Makes me yearn for the old days!
  9. Gosh, Matt, I bet he doesn't get too many salties wanting 500L+ ! And his pump-outs at £10 put others to shame............ :clap
  10. Absolutely fascinating, OW, and what an honour! Above the White Ensign..... Those guys were amongst the bravest of the brave.
  11. Absolutely, finny. During the Winter months (well, Autumn & Spring as well) we can easily double our fuel consumption. Our 5kW heater can use up to 0.5L/H if it's really cold outside. It doesn't help that we have an electrics-only boat with a 10kW genny to power it, unless we can plug into leccy. (which is probably another reason that we like to keep our motive-motor's appetite down!).
  12. Read the pinned topic at the start of 'New Members Say Hi', finny!
  13. A warm welcome aboard from us, Mike & Pat!
  14. Very interesting, Warp. The top red/green lines match our speeds exactly and go to prove what I originally started this topic about!
  15. Paul, Hi. There are indeed public moorings with leccy at Loddon. All very close to the shops, Rosy Lee's and pubs! I'd suggest you get there by 10.30 - 11.00 to ensure a mooring.. you may have to drift around a while as it's very popular.
  16. Errr, I thought it was about throttle versus fuel consumption, Strow?
  17. Here's what the Met lot say: http://metofficenews.wordpress.com/2014/08/04/is-tropical-storm-bertha-heading-for-the-uk/
  18. I don't know about "reef the burgee", Peter, but I'd certainly agree to "let go the storm anchor"! Pity the poor peeps who don't take notice of the weather and are out and about for the first time on the rivers next week... :shocked It certainly seems a bit early for the Hurricane season and this is the second one.
  19. What an excellent way to popularize the Broads!
  20. An old chestnut but we keep conkers in a bowl in the cabins and other places. We don't have a problem with spiders that way! Don't forget "If you wish to live and thrive, let a spider stay alive!
  21. Welcome aboard from us, Spider.
  22. Nice one. Mate! :clap (PS. In her first year she flew #2, immediately on the starboard wing of 'The Boss'. #3 flies on his immediate port wing. For most right-handed pilots #2 is easier to fly.)
  23. Carpasio Hi and welcome aboard the friendly forum from us. It doesn't surprise me one bit! :cry
