  1. Well off topic now! When Concorde was doing flight trials she was flown quite frequently up and down the Bristol Channel. I was a Hunter Pilot at RAF Chivenor in those days and we used to compete to see who could get the closest gun-sight pics of her, some were very close... definitely non-PC, H&S or anything else... but it was good fun! And yes, we did our training to at PIK. We used to stay in the Ayrshire & Galloway pub in Ayr... what a place that was! It certainly trained the young crews into HeavyLift ways!
  2. I was posted to both RAF Topcliffe and RAF Linton on Ouse in the 60's, Alan, and boy, have you got that right! :cry
  3. WOW, Clive........... now that's an offer! Stand by to repel boarders!
  4. Geoff, Hi I'd say exactly the same to you.
  5. Eric, Hi. We live just off the A11 beyond Thetford. (In Gt. Hockham). Whenever we venture North to the wilderness of High Bonnybridge we always go A11, A14, A1. It's 20 miles further to Newark but goodness me, it's a heck of a lot less stressful!
  6. I also told you how disappointed I was that they weren't female, Lori! :naughty:
  7. Great Blog, Alan.... that Woodfordes looks a bit cloudy, eh?
  8. A very warm welcome from us to the Friendly Forum, Paul. You are certainly a most talented family and it's our pleasure to have you as a member!
  9. But surely they do, Peter. A yacht, even with an inboard engine, is substantially cheaper than a power boat of the same size.....
  10. So they do, Peter So they do, Peter, but at what cost? We came across this twenty year old replica last year in a yard in Friesland.... 7.40m at 72,500 Euros! Sorry about the pic quality but it was behind a perspex screen.
  11. That's a really useful article, thanks Peter, but I guess we'll have to wait until she's out of the water again.... :clap
  12. Quite frankly.............. the mind boggles! :naughty:
  13. The saying in HMFC, Bill, was: "If it moves, salute it, If it doesn't move, paint it, If you can't paint it, hide it!" We had many occasions, on AOC's inspections, to comply with the latter two! :naughty:
  14. I bet she'll look a thing of rare beauty by the time you've finished, Alan! :clap
  15. That's for when the zag goes further backwards than the zig goes forwards, Mick! :naughty:
  16. Ouch! :naughty: Welcome aboard from us, Polly.
  17. Welcome aboard from us, finny. We do try to let everyone have their say!
  18. Lovely, Mick. I just wish I had your technical skills! ☺
  19. You'd best get Job Done polished and shiney, Luke!
  20. You must have been one of the 10 boats anchored there, Matt. We spent the afternoon at the Ferry House and then went to Coldham Hall for a beer... Passed you by at about 19.10. What a glorious day it's been! Now enjoying a sundowner on our mooring in Brundall.
