  1. No not trying to stir things at all the sign on the first post states Anglers must give way to boats seeking to moor of which I totally agree with , it also is highlighted in blue lettering Maximum stay 24hrs and no return within 24hrs of which boats should also take note of, the intial poster just wanted to ask a question and not to be told that the fishing season ends Friday so fisherman will not be in the way anymore, but will these so called un-lived boats still be there.
  2. so its have a dig at anglers even in this post, so its ok to have lee-way for a 24 hr mooring for boats to stay for 3-4 days but an angler cant place his gear for 4-5 hrs oh dear what ever next
  3. Roach / Bream hybrid all day , defiantly no Rudd in this fish
  4. The bank shop side at Ludham Bridge is owned by the EA the BA used to rent the top part closet to the reeds from Tubbys farm but the key heading got in a state no one wanted to repair so they took it back and set it to grass and took out the key heading, the fishing swims in the reeds are owned by the farm but the EA maintain it for fishing. Also the water and electric point is on land rented from the EA.
  5. People like Cator estates at woodbastwick, Hapgoods own most of the land at Ludham, archilogical trust and heritage trust at st benets abbey a lot of the BA 24hr moorings are owned by farmers etc so they have to lease them from them that is why they are losing so many moorings hence the reason people are charging an overnight fee.
  6. Paul it does exist on the broads Norwich and district have stretches of river at st benets, coldharbour, woodbastwick and decoy they pay land owners £6000 between them to have access and to be able to fish you are quite welcome to buy a day or annual membership, martham also hire a stretch at oby off cooks farm and the match stretch on the yare which holds the big matches run by Gt Yarmouth and Norfolk angling club also pay £1000s for the lease of the land.
  7. Paul just to clarify licence money is paid to the Enviroment Agency all over the country including the canals you mention, the EA are responsible for re-stocking programmes in certain areas this has nothing to do with the BA as they don't do a lot for fishing on the broads that would be the same for the EA charging boaters for mooring on there land in certain areas.
  8. just for the record I pay £30 for my licence to fish a fishing swim maybe 2m x 2m owned or rented by Norwich and district angling club, martham fishing club or EA not the BA so if you are trying to make a point that you pay a lot for your BA toll then you can navigate a hell of a lot more broads region than we are able to fish, we all have the choice to pay or not
  9. The fisherman don't have to give anything back to the BA, we pay our licence fee to the environment agency who own, rent a lot of land on the broads such as potter to martham, top of upton dyke where platforms are, shop side of Ludham Bridge just to name a few and I can tell you there will be boats moored up at these locations everyday so please don't tell me that its unfair.

Timbo you speak a lot of sense, one big factor is climate change our summers seem to get later and later last year the bream on our rivers spawned in July because of the crap spring we had and this year will be the same. Oh yeah and I own a groundbait whisk aswelllol

I hate to tell you this but 1878 is a long while ago things have moved on since then or is that the problem people don't move with the times, we all know that seasons are changing all the while so to reflect on that we all have to change our ways in life.

We know it gets cold because the so called boaters out there have to put there boats to bed till the weather warms up.

I suppose everyone has there opinion right or wrong but being heavily involved in the match scene and being keen on fishing on the broads we want to be out there fishing at every opportunity we really only have a 5mth season here on the rivers from June till Nov, but nevermind only 6 weeks before the season starts again and my god will businesses in the area know about it can you imagine how busy it would be in the area if we could fish all year round any way that's that.

Cant see how wildlife has anything to do with fishing, if that's peoples thoughts then we must put a ban on boating, dog walkers , bird watching and all that goes on in the broads area, I have seen dog walkers let there dogs loose on the footpaths and they run loose and put birds etc up in the air. In your opinion is there no wildlife on the tow paths of the canals and the bankside of the lakes.

One simple easy solution get rid of the closed season and let everybody fish all year round just like the canals and the lakes in the uk. Absolute pathetic law to be able to do one thing on one water but not on another and also to charge just those river anglers a full 12 month license when you can only fish 9 months of it the EA really need to get a grip on this I know some wheels are in motion and we will know a bit more soon.

If your gonna get up to these idiotic games then its no wonder swans and other wildlife will get caught up and tangled in loose fishing line and the hooks please anyone reading this DO NOT do this on purpose.
  19. And this has happened in the closed season for fishing, and I thought it was only fisherman who left rubbish on the banks
  20. Cant see how the hire company has anything to do with this at all yes they hired the boat out but that is all, we all see mcdonalds , kfc bags lying in the road but how many of you phone them up and tell them someone been flytipping their rubbish
  21. chuck them method feeders in the bin, never use them on our rivers and not many or any do use them you will want an open end feeder sometimes a cage feeder with weights ranging from 1oz up to 3oz.

Fred you are completely right there was a closed season across the board back in the years and you quote that the commercials, lakes, canals are open all year so what has changed on these venues regarding fish spawning, quality compared to fish in the natural waters that cannot be fished. In my experience a river caught fish will probably never of seen a hook before compared to the carp with the black and blue mouths caught week in week out.

I never complain too much about the EA license fee £27 because here in Norfolk 95% of our rivers are free fishing and I have a NADAA (Norwich and district) season ticket aswell £20 for the season and kids are free. Its just a shame the EA complain that there are not enough juniors fishing the natural venues but when you cant fish them till 16th June they will look at fishing the lakes instead.
  24. The star ratings are so deceiving most mcdonalds outlets have a rating of 5 probably for the cleanliness , records kept up to date etc etc but IMHO the food is the biggest load of c**p you can eat. I have eaten in a lot of pubs on the broads that don't exactly look pleasing to the eye and had fantastic meals.

He also had an opinion on Otters on the Wensum (and his own lake) but that didn't seem to go down well with others either but I was with him on that occasion.
