  1. We still absolutely love it BB , ... but since moving further away we have used it less but we're not going to be leaving boating completely, .. we're going to be giving the narrowboats and locks a go now. Diamond is in beautiful condition and whoever buys her will be very happy.
  2. Thankyou guys very much appreciated, ... 650xs I've sent you a pm , ... Mark I took your advice as well and contacted Applegates and BYB. Very Best John
  3. We are seling our beautiful Sheerline 950 centre cockpit cruiser - Diamond 908F - she is moored at Brundall Bay Marina. Excellent condition, low hours, very nice individual layout. No expense spared private from new. We would be very happy to consider sensible offers in excess of £70k. She has been regulary maintained and has all the usual high spec you would expect on a boat like this. In addition we have very recently replaced the main cabin foam mattresses for individual bespoke hand made spring mattresses. Please reply for more details or to to arrange a viewing. Thanks John
  4. Very nice, .. looks a lot more comfortable and practical than mine, .. I think it's called a Yamaha DragStar, .. a Harley competitor.
  5. Did anyone else see the film crew at Surlingham yesterday around 6.30pm ? ... Not sure what they were making it looked like a film as opposed to a documentary. There was a large rib tied side-on to a a wooden rowing boat. the rib had about 8 people in it and looked like another 2 actors in the rowing boat. There was another couple of boats tied up further up with more film crew folks on there. It would have been an interesting and nicer experience had they been a little more organised. We were on our way back to Brundall from a day out in Norwich with some friends and decided to show them Surlingham Broad, .. but as we came to the very narrow exit we came across round the near blind bend we met the dinghy and rowing boat in the middle of the river, ... they weren't going anywhere but were sitting squarely in the middle,... fortunately I was going very slowly already but was instructed very clearly by several people (by sign language and waving) on the dinghy to stop, ( !! ) and be quiet ( !! ), ... I thought OK I'll throttle right back, go into a very slow reverse and try and hold my position until they finished, .. but they carried on and on for what felt like more than 10 minutes very very slowly all the way along the narrow piece of river back toward the Yare, obviously filming some sort of dialogue. Whenever I manoeuvred forward and backward to maintain a straight and almost stationary position behind them, there was lots of shushing signs and engine (throat) cutting signals, and when my wife spoke (at a fairly normal level on our own boat) they were gesticulating wildly for us to shutup. We eventually were "allowed" to pass them when they'd finished and we were almost back at the Yare, ... it wasn't a big deal and I did my best to be accommodating but a less experienced person or someone who needed to be somewhere else sooner might have been a little less so. I think if people are going to use the rivers for filming then perhaps stationing a couple of ribs either end of the set to warn people would be more appropriate, these aren't cars you can't stop and turn the engine off, and it wasn't easy or practical to turn in that narrow channel.
  6. Our first hire boat was Fair Regal (Fair Entrepreneur 35) centre cockpit with a sliding roof, ... we really liked that, it started us off on our boat owning for the next 15 years. Since then we've had an ex- Harvey Eastwood "sports" Alpha 29, a vintage Broom Viking speedboat, a brand new Viking 20, a Calypso 28 and now we seem to have come full circle with a Sheerline 950 CC. All boats are your favourite on the day you buy them , ..... and become your favourites again through the rose tinted mists of time
  7. When I saw "Mooring Guide" .. I was hoping it was instructions on how to do it without looking a complete tw@t every time everyone a very useful guide John
  8. You'd think we'd have discovered it by now, .. 5 boats in 15 years !! BUT ! .. we seem to have a predetermined role in life, to perform a civil duty, ... a charity , .. .. a sort of social service care in the "boating" community function, .. to buy old boats spend a fortune fixing everything on them, getting them exactly how we think they should be,.. then selling them on for a loss while we invest another small fortune in something that needs even money spending on. Still that's why we love boating
  9. Alan, you're braver than us,.. we are moored opposite you (literally about 30 yards across the marina on the other side) , .. I saw you going out today, I was a little pre-occupied baling out a bit of an underfloor leak from the torrential wind and rain from last night as you passed. I had to get up about 1am and cut off one of my BA plates on the pulpit rail which was banging like a barn door in the wind !! We are down for a short break but apart from the beginning of the week we haven't been too lucky with the weather... also as she is still our new boat ( new to us anyway) we are still discovering new and exciting ways to spend lots of money we haven't got, ... to fix and repair things that we are enjoying discovering on a daily basis ... the joys of boating. I called wiz-bang or whatever they are called , the new supplier of Tingdene broadband , apparently a a power supply failure around 2 am this morning knocked out most of the service, .. all resumed AOK about 4pm. I reverted to my 3 dongle which seems to work pretty well around here. See you around... John
  10. SNAP ! we're kicking off our annual September week out on the 7th
  11. Hi guys, ... a great weekend but always lots to do ! unfortunately photos took second place. Here's a pic of the new girl and the old one. John
  12. Thank you Alan, very much appreciated. There aren't many metallic purple, orange and gold triumph Thunderbirds knocking about so it can attract a bit of attention The paint was expertly applied by Ty Lawer of Pageant Paint at Snetterton, I'm to blame for the rest of it. There is very little that is standard but the idea was to have a custom bike that looks as though it could have come from the factory that way. John
  13. Hi Guys if someone could help me through my doh ! moment by teaching me how to attach pics I'd be happy to show you a few snaps. John
  14. I'm not allowed a trailer anymore .... after I managed to reverse into my own while it was still attached and badly dented my own car ....
  15. Thanks guys, .... still learning is my excuse and I'm sticking to it I believe you MM, ... I'll try and be nice about the BA on here 1950s Thunderbirds Admiral ! when they were properly sporty bikes, .. mine is a 2011 1700cc twin cruiser style, .. does stand out a bit as we had painted metallic purple and gold, it's not called the Ziggy the Disco Bike for nothing.
  16. Thank you Bill , very much appreciated, ... we "moved in" last weekend. Hopefully we'll get out to play this Bank Holiday, got plenty of visitors coming for a cruise out. We are moored in Brundall Bay Marina and will probably steam down to Norwich for lunch. John
  17. Terrific film, some of it looks as though it hasn't changed that much and was shot yesterday in black and white. Loved the part showing a couple of cars up on the road and describing the traffic hurrying through Thorpe. John
  18. We have been pottering about on the Broads for about 15 years , and still learning....
  19. Very nice Bill, ... we are very fortunate to have bought ourselves a 950 CC last saturday.... Diamond 908F from NYA. We're going for our "maiden voyage" this bank holiday weekend hopefully we'll post some pictures next week. John
