  1. Hiya We should be in St.Kats around the same time then. Will look out for you rgds Wayne
  2. Tiger glue will fix it mate...tiger glue!
  3. Yes - so does mine How long r u in London for Chris? rgds Wayne
  4. This seems to have got out of proportion. It was never the intention to spoil anyones holiday - just throwing in a suggestion after a discussion with an experienced and regular London sailor. I am happy to do one or the other, or indeed both. regards Wayne
  5. Hiya I don’t think anything has really changed from our meeting - other than throwing in Limehouse for discussion, and that was not meant to be divisive. Whilst having an itinery and some booked moorings is a good idea in the end the weather may well decide things for us and we'll have to make it up as we go along. IMHO it would be ideal if we would ALL cruise together, at least to the same destinations if not at the same speed. Granted St.Kats will possibly give a better base and more for the children to do rgds Wayne
  6. That does seem a good idea Ian and given the choice i think I would do a bit of both. What about drop into Limehouse on the way into London as this gives us a much better window and choice of when we have to leave from and get the best tide / wind combination. Also I seem to remember at St.Kats last year a small boat not quite making the lock times and having to spend the night on St.Kats pier which I would not imagine made for a comfortable time. IMHO the window for St.Kats is only 1.1/2 hrs before HW. I would not want to be hanging around outside with the ebb coming off Tower bridge. This means any issues on the way and we are snookered, especially if we choose a long run or get held in by weather. Once fed up with Limehouse then move up to St.Kats - and this could well be at different times for different boats depending upon their own itinery. I have left my Alamanc on the boat but from memory the tides to lock out of St.Kats on the second week do give us an early start so plenty of time to get to the next stop. Having said all that we are happy to go with the flow as it were. Although we will end up in groups because of speed requirements the cruise in company aspect is as important to us as the destinations rgds Wayne
  7. Hi Col I think I did not brim the tanks - I filled from one side on a share pipe. When I filled second time I really slowed down the flow to squeeze all the air out. When we went out the gauges were not banging high - so the jury is still out ! The others will say I was runiing WOT all the way - but I dont know what they mean rgds Wayne
  8. Oh... and whilst we are not talking of fuel consumption this shows a semi does not have to be slow
  9. Hi all A few of the Salites met up on Oulton Broad to watch the powerboat racing on Monday. Rafted up with BBQs going on the back of the boats this was the start of which turned out to be a great week. After a quite(ish) day on Oulton broad on Tuesday the Salties decided to split up - a few went to Beccles and we decided to lock through with some others and see if the calm seas we were forcast would actually happen. Getting through the lock at 5.00 pm was perhaps not the best plan as soon as we were in the front chamber and Crackerjack was in the lock the staff said they could not open the road bridge until 6.00 because of traffic curfew so we spent a nice hour in the lock. We decided that a beer was in order and crew Crackerjack cooked their dinner. Soon we were on our way again and joined by Osprey we settled down at RNSYC for a few more beers. Wednesday morning brought with it a really flat sea, so the three boats cruised down to Southwold for lunch at the Sole bay fish resturant. The plan was we would fill up with diesel brim full, do the trip and brim again on the way back to see what fuel we used. That evening a BBQ on the dockside whilst the kids watched Harry Potter on DVD. Thursday morning brought a similar flat sea, so we quickly dropped the ribs and headed out to sea for a play. When we got out there we found the rib coastal voyager who was only to pleased to play with us and chop the water up. That afternoon we continued the rib fun in the waterski zone with the kids taking turn on the ringo and Sharron of Osprey demonstrating her expertise on skis ( the rib driver did a fantastic job too!). That afternoon dead on low water (a little later than planned due to some skipper error with regard to battery switches) we left Southwold for Hamilton dock. Leaving on dead low water was a tad "interesting" picking our way through very shallow water (around 1.1 mtrs on the depth sounder) a good way out of the harbour. Friday was reckoning day - we filled back up - I dont want to talk about the results. We then decided that the boys would take Katy out for a play in rather lumpy sea, while the girls took the kids roller skating. That afternoon we headed up to Beccles where we met up with Clanny, headed up to the Geldeston locks by rib for curry, where we also met up with crew Escape. Saturday was a chill out day, the kids went to Beccles lido, we went to the pound shop and Bear and Bells! In the afternoon everyone set about cleaning their boats - including fenders! Late afternoon , when the tide was low enough (just) we slipped lines yet again and headed for a final dockside BBQ at WRC. All in all a fantastic week, as always and in fanstastic company. Back to work tomorrow but at least we have some more great memories, photos and sunburn to remember the week. A few photos follow rgds Wayne
  10. Hi all After a chance meeting with a colourful gentleman in the bar at RNSYC this week we are considering the pros and cons of visting Limehouse Marina instead of St. kats. I have experience of St.Kats, which I did enjoy with it's very central location - but we were a little limited with lock times and it was a little inflexible. All I know of limehouse is that it is not in the best area of London but it does allow access to some of the canal system for an alternative day in London and will give us an eight hour lock window rather than the 2.1/2 of St.Kats. So what are other peoples experiances, and recommendations? Also what do the other Salties want to do - St.Kats or Limehouse, or maybe a bit of both ? rgds Wayne

No Ian - but caught this poor chap on the mud opposite the BA moorings at Burgh Castle at the weekend - was stranded until the early hours of the morning waiting for the tide.

  19. Baz If you change the colour of the stripe, your jacket will no longer match, so you will have to change that too... And then your jacket wont match your eyes any more
  20. Hi Gav I see you are well, and judging by some posts still as diplomatic as ever Annie has the details but so far : meet up Hamilton dock sat 30th July - already booked for everyone. Sun 31st, Monday 1st and possibly Tuesday 2nd - Titchmarsh - again already booked for us all. The view is we take a look at weather tides etc as and decided at the time whether to head straight to St.Kats on the Wednesday, or have a stop over at the Medway Tuesday eve. Ian has to hit Gillingham first anyway for liquid gold. We are booking st Kats from Wednesday for five nights - although again the actual duration of stay will be discussed at the time. No plans made for the return trip yet. best rgds Wayne
  21. Hi Mark We have too I have the Sat night confirmed at Hamiltion for us all, as well as Titchmarsh for the Sunday, Monday and possibly Tuesday if required. Has anyone had any more thoughts on some return stop overs? rgds Wayne
  22. Hiya Baz Good news ...I agree that finding someone to do work properly is difficult ...you know what I mean. Wayne
