on trips home we visited hickling , the pottery at stalham , the coastal place falling into the sea , could also do norwich or lowestoft , have eaten at sutton stithe , harnser , poss the swan, and one night took a curry from the indian to the pub next door on the landlords last night , and 1st trip got bargain 50p chickens from tesco rotisserie (think food had stopped at the harnser )

glad mow enjoying it -- if there's someone with a camera at the bridge ask them to put it down and take a rope
  8. and shopping from asda ,makes it longer
  9. something i wouldn't have thought of b4 seeing the flooding pics , wellies (or is that only down past yarmouth) take sleeping bags, and the usual tin opener , torches , long matches

for horning is the new inn doing assisted moorings at the moment ?....... horning did have good chinese takeaway too if can moor themselves at village,. Horning is where we had to get the engineer to stargem as the engine was cutting out we had to drift to the fancy houses past the wroxham turn where a maid looked horrified we might step on the grass . when we reported the issues we had on returning ,( the reason we had originally booked serene gem was we knew the cabin space on it but someone had nearly sunk it ) the attitude we were given was we gave you a better boat. Albeit one we could hardly sleep on and broke down

Girlfriend didn't know what ys meant and she's been with me several times!! So ys=yacht station. There is usually a broads ranger at Reedham who helps with mooring.

for the cold if you have a sleeping bag open it up and sleep on top of it , made all the difference a freezing april easter when had woke up to ice n the boat at wroxham..... do not give up from trying and succeeding to moor at acle . my late father who thought was a good helm had 2 instances outside the bridge , a brooms 9 berth supreme commander being blown back against a small boat (no filming in 70s thank you) and rope around propellor that needed a frog man . follow grendel across breydon , get help at reedham , loddon is a calm mooring , beccles and oulton broad can use ys's . We once returned to richo's to meet a couple who said had enjoyed the week apart from stress of mooring and as a crew of 2 we often had some confusion with instructions but once moored it's take a breath and relax. Not endorsing ramming the boat dodgem style but it often sounds worse than it is when fender hits the mooring and the cupboards rattle or something falls off the sideboard ..

i had the advantage of going as a child many years before and remembered the fun of it bouncing and it seeming too calm in recent years , seriously keep within the markers of the wide channel and you will wonder how some went wrong and take advantage of the 2 weeks and see lowestoft rather than yarmouth, reedham . loddon and poss beccles

    2nd Day

would recommend visiting yarmouth on your way home by car than mooring there , about ten years ago we did a week end of oct and it was very warm early morning but clouding mid aft ..maybe try and have enough time to go through breydon and get to reedham where there should be a ranger to help with ropes

    2nd Day

spent an afternoon at waveney river centre watching a cup match on their tv..... by the end the water had fallen so much we were panicking of getting the ropes off to go to oulton broad.

    2nd Day

now who on the other thread was told an employed skipper was a bad idea. but you don't want to pay someone else to have the fun... endorse ringing a yacht station for guidance on tide times your bath tub will go through the bridges no problem any time. If possible acle your best overnight and set off early , you may be able to use the boatyard.

    2nd Day

mainly serene gem , not a clear view of the stern , for a stretch off the main river could be blown about a bit
