O thats a dream, take your boat there one day and sell it the next, fantastic. What time of year was that? I think, if we think we may not sell her until Spring then we are going to have to find a mooring where we can moor and sell her, we can't be without a boat that long, no one should be expected to do that! am having withdrawal symptoms, am in a right old mood. The Broads used to calm me down and so need to do something soon before poor Mike has to take any more of my shenanigans lol Jan

I am too inpatient thats my problem, someone will buy her and be very happy (and so will we!). We are back up at the Broads around my birthday 19 October for a few days, will pop to see you Jon, be interesting to meet you and see what you have for sale too. We've got lots of thinking to do between now and then. As for the others, NBS said they've moved her to a better position today but........ still need to think about that. We have paid HW until end of December for the mooring, not sure if we will stay there or not after that, more thinking and it might be a nice change to moor somewhere else. Missing our boat, would be okay if we could still use her and leave her up for sale when we are not there, we have a lot of money invested in her. We came down to Norfolk a week or so ago and paid for a hotel.......... which seems crazy! (and uncomfortable!). Yep I agree with you, that this is a nice time of year, the broads quieten down and there's no other place like it. Good advice re part exchange we've seen a boat we may like at NBS Horning but not totally sure yet. We bought her last September and collected her first week in October. So maybe there is still hope, although with NBS having three Aplha's could cut our chances by three. Beginners learning I think, as someone said it's easy to buy but not so easy to sell. Just missing the Broads so much it's the only time I switch off and relax. Jan

I emailed NBS today and they have called me this morning to say that they will try and move her to a better position but still in the side bit and will ensure she is kept clean. They said that the side part of their Marina sells just as many boats as the main bit but I know when we were looking to buy a boat we didn't know the side bit existed and did not look there. We have some thinking to do over the coming week to see want to do next I think. Also, If boats don't sell this time of year, are we wasting our time :-( Boatless and sad Jan

Ah yes, but what you don't know is that we asked them if they would sell Lady Lindar for us but they said they don't sell that type of boat which is why we thought it reasonable for us to be able to sell it independently with another broker.

All sounds logical to me but not good for us at the moment We did speak to Chris at NYA when we were looking at boats the other weekend and he seemed interested in selling our boat, he said he would go look at her last Monday and get back to us but he didn't. I have left a message for him to call us. It is appealing to sell her with the smaller brokers as, just my humble novice opinion, they seem to care more. We know one smaller broker who was happy to sell our boat but the marina where we moor her wouldn't let them on the Marina to bring viewers around (HW PH). Jan

I think you may be right with that, I know one of the Alpha's is a stock boat as it used to belong to our friends (also forum members) and NBS took it in part exchange, so possibly they may be inclined perhaps to push their stock boat(s) first. Thanks Jan

Hi It is a time like this that I am so grateful that we are members of the forum. As some of you may know we have put pur boat, Lady Lindar, up for sale at NBS Wroxham. We bought her from there and it seemed logical to sell her there too. The people were really nice and we got 1% discount as she is a returnig boat. All is not well though and we need your help. I have written about it in the boat for sales bit of this forum if you could help in any way that would be appreciated. Thanks Jan

We popped to NBS about a week ago and Lady Lindar was where we left her tucked out of the way and not in the main boat sales part, she had not been cleaned even though we have been charged for Brinkcraft to clean her and one of her (new) ropes was dangling in the water. We were not pleased and it really upset me that she doesn't seem to be being looked after. We were told she would be moved within a couple of days as a couple of boats had been sold. I called NBS yesterday to get an update on where she was sitting and she is still tucked around the back. I mentioned that she had not been cleaned and, I have to say I don't think my comment was welcomed as the voice at the other end of the phone changed as if I was being a pain, they said that they would mention it to Brinkcraft on Monday. I am not sure what to do from here really. What would really help is if anyone from the forum makes a visit to NBS in Wroxham if they could have a look to see if she is in the main sales bit and looks clean to post the update here. I would be very grateful as we are not local to the Broads and so can't check on her as regular as we would like. Thanks in advance Janice

Hi Are there any courses around that would teach people the basics of owning your own boat for example how to care for it, all about moorings, marinas, servicing the boat, different types of boat specifications, the rules and regulations of boating on the Norfolk Broads type rivers and the Sea and anything else that should be covered? We have been lucky that we have friends that are very experienced in owning their own boat and who were able to give us advice for example about marinas and the Norfolk Broads but it would be good to be able to attend a course, or a string of courses, that would (excuse the pun) teach one the ropes of owning a boat and using it on river ways or out at sea. The little things that perhaps more experienced boat owners take for granted like tying the boat up, the knots etc, mooring and about giving way to yachts, tidal information, or (unbelievably because I've seen people do this) teaching people which side of the river they should cruise along, all would help. Also non-boat owners, people who holiday regular on the Broads could take the courses. If a certificate could be gained at different levels foundation, advanced and master it may help reduce insurance costs (I know they are quite low but every little bit helps) most of all though it would give newbies a chance to go somewhere to learn the ins and outs fast. Ok I know that, same as driving a car, there are some things that you can't teach, that have to be gained by experience but at least there would be a good foundation to learn upon. What do you think? What a small World, am chuffed that you wrote that poem and saw my mention of it. Great poem sums up how I am feeling and how the Broads draws you back, totally smitten. When we drive home from Norfolk I am always on the look out for houses, it wouldn't take too much to talk me into moving there if it wasn't for me not wanting to be away from the kids (both 31 years old not kids really lol) our daughter is due to have her first baby in December our first grandchild and so we will have to stay in Hertfordshire, plus there is work of course! I didnt think we thought we would be selling her this quick but now we have had a taste of the Broads we want more, Mike wants a boat he can take out to sea with twin engines and I want to invite friends and family to join us on the Broads and Lady L was not able to make either of those things happen. I love it when the winter draws in and the Broads is less busy it's so beautiful. What made it slightly worse was that she had not been cleaned when we saw her and she was tucked to one side away from the other boats. One of her new ropes was hanging in the water, which really upset me. She looked so lonely, we asked for her to be moved near to the other boats and I am going to call them on Saturday to see if that has happened and ask why she has not been cleaned. When we dropped off Lady Lindar at Wroxham for her to be sold tears steamed down my face, she had become an old friend and I felt like we were deserting her, throwing her away like yesterday's newspaper. It's not just Lady Lindar that I miss its being able to merender around the Broads with that feeling of being free, relaxed and happy. I saw this poem this morning and I can relate to it 100%.

We had something similar happen with a yacht heading towards our boat that was moored up, we were happily chatting away when we saw the yacht heading toward our boat which we had just cleaned. Before we had time to think two people jumped off of the yacht onto our boat and deflected the yacht from hitting us. We were speechless to say the least. It all happened so fast that by the time it registered they were back off of our boat and back on their yacht apologising for the imposition. Afterwards we said we should have told them to get off our boat but at the time it was difficult to call and we really didn't want our boat damaged by the yacht. So the moral of the story is perhaps that some situations call for different responses. In the case of someone jumping on our boat to moor another boat I think we would have said "are you joking, get off. (Or similar perhaps more colourful response!) Jan

FOR SALE LADY LINDAR ALPHA 26 We are selling out Alpha 26 she was our first boat and we have had no complaints, she has been reliable and a pleasure to use moseying about on the Broads. We have owned her for one year and want to size up to a larger boat now so that we can invite the family down and share our enjoyment with them. We have looked after her and have made lots of improvements such as new Calorifier, added an immersion heater, got the warm air heatimg serviced by the manufacturer, installed a new steering wheel, replaced all ropes with new ones, installed a new Bluetooth radio, replaced and added fenders, install a remote controlled spot light and in March of this year got a new boat safety certificate. The boat has an island bed. One of the nice things about the boat is that the interior is bright and clean looking and is easy to get on and off of from the rear as you can step straight on to her. She is a lovely welcoming boat and very cosy especially now she has good heating and piping hot water. She's up for sale at Nofolk Boat Sales in Wroxham at the moment, we've put her up at the same price that we paid for her and not added on the cost of the improvemnts we've made and so she's a bargain in our opinion, who ever buys her should have trouble free boating.
