  1. Is that why Blackhorse Broad is still shut.
  2. Popped in for a quick coffee but couldn’t stay as I had to be back on my mooring by 17-30.
  3. Had a nice sail up to Hickling yesterday but I was disappointed to see so much weed. You cannot even go up to the posts as the weed extends about 2 ft in to the channel. Even Heigham sound is suffering with the weed starting about 3 ft from the bank. Going to be very interesting for the 3RR
  4. You can set the steering and wiz round the cabin with a varnish brush.
  5. A friend of mine who lives in the village moored a boat a couple of weeks ago and was asked for his Name. They replied that it was not the name of the registered owner to which he replied does that matter. He didn’t pay.
  6. Stopped here today and spoke to the ranger. It’s £5 until 17-00 and £10 overnight. If you have paid for the day it’s only £5 for overnight. You can moor at 10-01 and leave at 10-00 the following day and it’s only £10. New signs have been erected to state that penalty charge will apply if you don’t buy a ticket and I was told they have already issued some penalties notices.
  7. I have varnished Nipper many times but this is the first boat I have painted and it’s a lot bigger than Nipper.
  8. We passed you on the way to Yarmouth. Breydon was very choppy when we came over has spray over the roof many times.
  9. For the last 3 weeks I have been putting in 12-14 hour days to get Papaver back to looking her best. We launched today in very windy conditions, very pleased with her new colour scheme. Many thanks to Robin Day, Dave and Ali and Charlie Griffin for all the help and advice and cups of tea and cake..
  10. I can see there is going to be some stiff competition at Beccles this year. She looks fantastic Jez. Well done.
  11. Ours love the boat and get very excited when the boat bag comes out.
  12. The deck crew was feeling a bit under the weather so was a bit slow getting the fenders back up.
  13. Even if your not collecting them the same day you could spend the first day/days around Barton Broad and just return to the yard to collect them when needed.
  14. We hired Sapphire 3 a few years back and that was a 6 berth on the same hull. We found the beds two small for two adults so had a cabin each. The boat is showing its age with the colour scheme but it looked very clean and serves a place in the current market.
  15. I didn’t think you could phone them anymore. Contact is by VHF I believe.
  16. From the above if the bilge pump draws from the engine catch tray or sealed area it needs a filter if it takes water from elsewhere it does not. If it’s the former the owner should be encouraged to remove it and no record noted.
  17. Had a close look at Clear Gem and it’s very crude wrapping. They wouldn’t get a job with Yanni Supercar garage
  18. Remove the bilge pump and get it reinspected then refit it. Simples.
  19. Full at Potter and lots of boats at Womack dyke and Thurne. The new restaurant in the granary must be fuming.
  20. Passed two Rangers and a police boat today hopefully they will carry on for the rest of the season not just a show for the first couple of weeks of hire. Also saw two boys with fishing gear even though it’s still closed season.
  21. I have a Smarty sim, unlimited month by month contract £10 per month. Works most places ok even Horning.
  22. Such sad news. He will be missed very much for his infectious sense of humour.
  23. A well know member on here with more year’s experience than I care to remember was ask at Ranworth by the Ranger last year if he was a first timer as he could hear the engine revving. The fact he didn’t touch the throttle and was being pulled in on the ropes was laughable.
  24. Having just completed on the purchase of our new boat. Not quite worked out the commute but that’s a small problem. https://www.boats.com/sailing-boats/2016-leopard-40-8733351/
