  2. What I find so incredibly sad about Christine was her demise. I well remember the then innovative fashion photographs of her Many years later I was to briefly meet the lady with regard to a photoshoot that was regretfully aborted. Certainly not the lady who's pictures I had admired in my formative years.
  3. Ohhh YES! Not in that race but on the traditional ghost wherry of Oulton Broad night although that was pure coincidence. We had sailed very close to one boat but thought nothing about it until the next morning when the local harbour master told us about a hysterical crew who had been moored in Oulton Dyke the previous evening and who had sighted the ghost ship.
  4. It would seem that Salhouse Parish Council has a past!! The speculation deepens! http://www.edp24.co.uk/news/politics/broadland-bosses-to-take-action-over-salhouse-parish-council-1-1512828
  5. Discretion is my middle name, now, which bank was it?
  6. Fairly short couple, both plump, downstream of the bridge
  7. I always smile to myself when going past that particular 'shed'. Never recognised them walking around Lathams, would I have smirked I wonder?
  8. I'll vouch for that! As previously stated we drifted past one bungalow, the two occupants, both quite plump and dressed in yellow baby-doll pajamas, were clearly enjoying a spot of mutual chastisement !!
  9. Coincidentally there was a similar story, similar location & outcome, probably a year or so ago.
  10. Not a cloud in the sky this morning. slight frost, not a breath of wind, a pootle around the manor is called for! Sailies gone to the yard, will have to start the fart boat up!
  11. Gosh, the story has gone national! http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2017/12/03/cafe-owner-banned-peering-rivals-window/ As for shabby chic tea-rooms, arghhhhh! Mind you, Radley's does appear a tad sparse.
  12. Time to winterise 'Spray', a trip with the tide from Oulton Broad to St Olaves where she'll be craned out and stored. Three of Broom's finest left the Broad before us otherwise we saw no other boats underway. As ever a pleasant trip but apart from two Marsh Harriers and some swans we saw very little in the way of wildlife which was a shame. Neither of us were cold although the slight mist was damp and the clouds ever present. An event free trip, inevitably ending up in the boozer which was pleasantly populated which is what one would expect of a good pub.
  13. To those of you who do cruise at night, PLEASE don't turn on the bloody headlights/searchlights. Darn things should only be used as a very last resort. Dazzling other users is both unsafe and unpleasant.
  14. Having a 'woody' needn't be expensive, provided you are a competent DIY boatbuilder!
  15. Good advice here: http://www.pbo.co.uk/expert-advice/gelcoat-repair-colour-matching-18207 More good advice here, at least I think so: I'm not surprised that you lost a fend-off, your picture suggests that you have skimped on the fender lanyard, especially on that big one. I reckon that you need a bit more diameter/strength. What do others think?
  16. Three coffee shops in one small village, at least one had to fail, so unfair that it's the first one to open.
  17. Exactly, perhaps a few questions need answering, if someone knows what to ask!

  19. I rarely cook a 'Full English' at home but onboard it's part of the ritual, especially in late September and October when there's marsh mushrooms galore to be had.
  20. Lovely boat, John. I always hankered after one.
  21. John, was the middle row, second from the right your boat at one time? The Nobs & Snobs Yacht Club, Lowestoft.
  22. Depends where it emanates from!! You'll know what a Jack o' lantern is, if you're a good ol' Norfolk man, loads of 'em around the Waveney!
  23. The authorities use marsh gas to keep it raised. Mind you, with the present cold spell demand for gas might see it drop.
  24. By forgetting to turn left at the end of the New Cut! A four and a half foot long inflatable was used for the rescue? Amazing! Seemingly the dory used as a tow boat couldn't safely tow a twenty five footer? I regularly tow a 28' boat alongside an 11' dory, quite safely too.
