I used the Ecoblast air horn that you can recharge with a foot or bike pump. It was a real ear splitter.

Now the Acme Metropolitan has a very distinctive sound that makes people sit up.

Every boat that I have owned has always had a Whale manual bilge pump fitted to drain the lowest part of the bilge. I like the reassurance you get when you give it a few strokes as you pass and all is dry.

I don't think either project has been officially cancelled. But if they are struggling to maintain what is there now, where would the money come from for new canals. There was also a scheme to join a new locked at sea end marina at Kings Lynn to the RGO via the Nar or Wissey, eliminating the need to pass Denver Sluice.

If your purchase has not been to sea recently, and being new to you, I would seriously consider transferring to Brundall by road. By any standard it is not an easy passage and one with many locations where the last thing you require is a boat not performing or worse loss of power. Even at the start of the voyage Brentford to clearing the Thames Estuary is not for the faint hearted.

I had many friends around Bushey, Stanmore Harrow because although brought up in Chorleywood, I went to School in Moor Park/Northwood. But later on the Thames Valley was our playground. Skindles at Maidenhead, Skinners at Remenham Hill, Henley. Marlow pubs, Winkers Farm, Chalfont St Peter etc.

That is a shame for me, I shall be returning to my roots in The Chilterns that day because the sacred day of The Kop Hill Climb is one week earlier this year. Not sure why, but it is on a public road.

Back in September 2018, when Horsey Staithe had to be drained and all the moorings could not be used, pontoons were used with great effect. As you can see:- A pontoon path was layed across the reed bed to the open waters of the Mere and a mini-marina constructed. The people seated were something to do with the Trip Boat that normally runs from the Staithe

They have been there since 2011, when the Horning Marshes Moorings opened. I took this photograph on 10.04.2011. Of a BA silt barge moored between the 20ft max L.O.A. posts. You will also note that said barge is not displaying it's registration number on it's bow. I took it because I thought it a bit of a laugh! Not many about at that time of year.

Maybe they are getting confused with the area outside The Swan?

A favourite of my late wife and I also. I chose to go to Keswick, then over Honister Pass and walk round Buttermere with my memories for my 70th Birthday. Long gone my ability to hack Striding Edge to scale Helvellyn or Sharp edge and Blencathra. Personally I have always found that route to Blencathra more rewarding than the more famous Striding Edge.

Not Gulls. Wrong mast...the gull problem is at UEA. The Horning area problem is due to decommission of a mast at Neatishead. Maybe due to the re-siting of the Mundesley Golf Ball?????? Nobody seems to know why at present.
