  1. this restaurant in sunnyvale california is sporting a sign that sounds like you are describing,
  2. this evening the fitting of the prop shaft support started, I didnt want to fix it solidly into the skeg end, as I wanted to be able to remove this, so I devised a method that would allow the bracket to sit in a slot in the skeg, the solid lump will be soldered into the skeg.
  3. I have just waded through all the forum settings to try and find a setting, but no dice there either, images submitted are reduced to 2000 x 2000 pixels max, but no mention of max size to try and upload.
  4. because artisan Craftsman is tautology and master Baker sounds a bit like.......................
  5. Last night the cradle was unclamped, tidied up and replaced under model #1. model #2 has moved into the workshop in preparation for the installation of the prop shaft support and rudder.
  6. sunset in my rear view mirror on the way home was stunning.
  7. very different from normal here in Brentwood.
  8. shoppers who meet their friends in the doorway as one enters and the other leaves, then spend 10 minutes chatting while everyone else is waiting to either get in or get out, then complain bitterly when someone barges through.
  9. everything is a lot smaller, and you have to make a decision where to stop faithfully reproducing every tiny detail.
  10. I had to find somewhere out of the way to store them.
  11. not after we sold them london bridge and they realised it wasnt tower bridge
  12. eventually the cradles will be replaced with display cradles, that will have a nice brass plaque with the boat name on it. I have not worked out the design just yet for these.
  13. this evening two small bits of work, firstly one of the storage cradles has cracked, and needed repairing, so this was brought into the workshop, glued , reinforced, and clamped. secondly the stainless steel strip down the bow of Broad Ambition was added, this was done with the chrome pen, and will be tested for durability in the water, this may be replaced with a real stainless steel strip if it doesnt last.
  14. drivers who go through the right hand tunnel at the dartford crossing, then cross 3 lanes (and a solid white line) to get to the exit at junction 31.
  15. nearly a week with no updates - shocking I hear you cry - yes I have taken a short break, whilst I have been getting the workshop sorted. add to that a couple of days (friday and saturday) feeling seasick, as a mild bout of labrynthitis struck. hopefully now I have just about got there I can proceed with the boats particularly model #2. the next step is the prop shaft support and the rudder.
  16. rust cleaned off and all items protected with some car wax polish. I have cut down my old galvanised steel bench top, and fitted it to part of my work bench, I now have a decent top to do really messy jobs on. next I really have to crack on with model #2.
  17. early this year in February I was helping Charlie and the Broad Ambition crew on their winter out of the water maintenance, it was snowing outside so jolly cold, my solution was a hat, a good set of thermal underwear and a good sleeping bag, this kept me comfortable day and night (the long sleeved and long johns type of thermals) we ran the heating until we went to bed and started it back up when we woke. preparation is the key, the nights are getting colder so be prepared with extra blankets etc.
  18. This mornings boot fair found a whole lot of accessories for the workshop, from large drill bits for the pillar drill, to a second table vice similar to one I already have, and on one stall what must have been a machinists tool box, all sorts of small metal marking out tools and what appear to be small profile shaping tools- maybe for shaping brass in a lathe. £20 total spend, a tool expert who I know and met as I was buying them told me the eclipse hacksaw blades I got were worth £2 each, and I got those and all the marking tools for just £3
  19. I believe there is a plugin for chrome and firefox that enables the missing photobucket pictures to be viewed. The links to the plugins are -Firefox: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/fir...ix/?src=searchChrome: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/d...flicjjgj?
  20. I wouldn't have thought that the Broads Authority would have wanted to change their name to the BNP.
  21. MM, at the rate you are going, it will be pictures of your good self in hospital.
  22. I have to admit to getting the rubbing strake hooked up at Oulton, fortunately we spotted it quite early and sorted it, unlike the boat 3 along whose prop was over half way out of the water when they spotted it at 11 pm, when they came out of the pub (cue lots of engine revving and a rugby scrum around the stern of the boat trying to push it off.)
  23. I believe a thread will be put up where we the pictures can be uploaded, we then vote for which pictures we like
  24. We recently had a big fight with our council who wanted to sell off the last remaining green area in our neighbourhood for housing, eventually the local campaigners won and got the green area designated as a village green- so protected. the main thing is its down by the river - on the flood plain, so why would the council have ever allowed building there is a mystery, - ah unless it was for the money.
