  1. We got under late in October at 10'6 with about 4-6 inches to spare so around 10'3 I guess. I just wondered if there was an easy ish way to tell before we got there. The marker boards on the far side of Breydon are they for Breydon Bridge or Vauxhall? X
  2. Hopefully someone will see this & be able to help me. We want to move our boat from Brundal to Horning. We've studied the tide times and decided Monday 21st is a reasonable day, half way between Springs and low water is at 9am. My question is with the yacht station being closed how do I find out what the bridge heights are before it's too late? Is there a way of using Breydon Bridge as a kind of marker? I'm asking coz we've got a 10ft ish air draft and a load of steel work that we can't remove at the moment, don't really want to remove it by force either!! Thanks x
  3. Hi guys and welcome from a relative newby too, everyone here is really friendly. We are from Louth so not far from you and we have your boat at Horning Village marina xx Sent from my Hudl HT7S3 using Tapatalk
  4. Hi from me too, I'm a relative newby to the forum but everyone is really friendly. I'm not normally a bitter drinker but I have to admit that a pint of Adnams broadside always goes down a treat, our local wetherspoons seem to have it permanently n draught but somehow it's always my turn to drive! You can buy it in bottles from tescos too but its not quite the same! X Sent from my Hudl HT7S3 using Tapatalk
  5. Can someone edit the spelling mistake in the title please & thank you! Xx Sent from my Hudl HT7S3 using Tapatalk
  6. I have just seen on Facebook that Did from the Thurne Lion and a friend of his are intending to re-open the Broads Haven on the 25th of this month. Will look forward to visiting soon and best of luck to them x Sent from my Hudl HT7S3 using Tapatalk
  7. The galley deli in horning dies cream teas. So I think does the Staithe and Willow x Sent from my Hudl HT7S3 using Tapatalk
  8. You will be fine under ludham, we had her August bank holiday week last year, was a bit tight going back but we got under, it had rained for 2 days solid that week too!! X Sent from my Hudl HT7S3 using Tapatalk
  9. We once had a speedboat call 'Shy Tot' and our first cruiser was Skyvin'. When we got our latest boat 'Midnight Star' my mum & dad decided the tender would be 'Midnight Starlet' x
  10. Thanks I will tell Neil to ask him but it was Jon that suggested I ask on here!! X
  11. Has any one got or know of anyone that has any spare sails for a Sabre 27 yacht that they would be willing to part with? My uncle has just bought a project one from Wayford Bridge that he's doing up. If not he's going to set my mum on the job with a sewing machine & some old bed sheets!! Thanks Claire xx
  12. We will be there too, in a green rangerover, there will be 3 or possibly 5 of us together. My stepson has ginger hair and I will be wearing a red anorak! See you all there!! Xx
  13. We will be there, providing we can get parked in the village, the one downside of the village marina is the lack of dedicated parking x
  14. Hoping this link works, I saw this on Facebook this morning, it appears that it was being used as a liveaboard. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10152648480214613&set=gm.374101812766830&type=1&theater
  15. I got into trouble once for buying a set of alloys for my car at an auction, they were attached to another car, the auctioneer thought it was highly amusing. My oh was not too impressed coz he had to then sell the car without its alloy wheels!! X
  16. Its not fixed but is big and a bit cumbersome to get inside, there are some free standing stools inside to go round the table so we used one of those a lot of the time x
  17. It might have just been me, a 5'2 shorty! As long as you are agile you should be fine. For side on mooring she's great and the dual steering is good, apart from when it rained we spent most of the time steering up top, the visibility up there is really good. A word of warning though, the chair on the outside helm holds A LOT of water so make sure you put a plastic bag on it before you sit on it!
  18. We had her in August, for the cost she is a great boat, ideal for 4 but a bit cozy for the 6 of us. Our biggest problem is the height, for stern mooring she's a bit of a nightmare, you have to learn mountaineering to get on and off!! X
  19. Not heard anything about any events in Louth, there was a food market in Lincoln by all accounts but not much else, sad really, so much more could be made of the day x
  20. Now I appear to have edited the wrong post!! Claire xx
  21. Oops I duplicated my first post sorry. Love Claire xx
  22. Just want to say hi. Have been lurking on the forums for a while but decided to join now. I've been coming down to Norfolk for about 20 years, I had my first trip on May Queen from May Craft at Potter Heigham when I was 12 and have been hooked ever since. I have successfully converted my OH to the joy of the Broads now too. Although he didn't take any persuading on boats, he already had a Fairline Sun Fury when I met him. Over the years we sold the boat and we've hired, stayed in houses and cottages, even bought a camper van and toured that way but something always drew us back to the water, so we've done it...... After some sole searching, number crunching and lots of sleepless nights we've bought another boat. She's another Fairline a Phantom 32 this time, not 100% broads friendly but we intend to do some coastal stuff too. We are moored at Village Marina in Horning at the moment and the boat is called Midnight Star but that's a bit pointless at the moment as she has no name plates.... Anywhere!
