  1. It’s the coming back, when they then leap from your boat to the next waiting one, whilst you stand by to quickly grab the helm... I am happy to take my chances. But I was worried that guidelines might prevent it. Hopefully not! Sent from my iPhone using Norfolk Broads Network
  2. Wroxham!!! With hire boats going out from the 4th July, I wonder if the bridge pilots will be operational? Is it possible with social distancing? Sent from my iPhone using Norfolk Broads Network
  3. Hunters yard has updated their social media announcing being open from the 4th. Sent from my iPhone using Norfolk Broads Network
  4. I had that too, immediately the announcement was made! Sent from my iPhone using Norfolk Broads Network
  5. Ok I am still holding my breath... Richardson’s are the only big yard not to have made the announcement that they are opening on the 4th. 🤞 Sent from my iPhone using Norfolk Broads Network
  6. Looks like we are on for the 4th!!!!!!! Whooopeee!!
  7. Absolutely! Tourism is vital. Not sure 100% of residents understand that though. Sent from my iPhone using Norfolk Broads Network
  8. Thats fabulous to hear!! We are coming from the South West which has even lower infections than East Anglia, but we can't wear a badge saying that... So much of the Broads infrastructure needs tourism. Hopefully people will see that.
  9. We have no choice, the boat is booked for the 4th. The upside is we will be the first staying on her. The downside is I am expecting the rivers and moorings to be very very busy, as the flood gates open! I am even expecting some hostility from locals who'd rather we stay away.
  10. Certainly several of the yachts, I had my eye on down here, went straight under offer as soon as the brokers could do viewings again!! I was still working as a Yacht Broker when we had the 2008 crash (Lehman Bothers collapsed whilst we were in the middle of a Southampton Boat show). There were plenty of buyers expecting the second hand market to be flooded with cheap boats, ‘fire sales’.... For us that never really happened. Yes purchasers dwindled, but few boats came on the market ‘having’ to be sold. People just kept what they had, rather than moving up the ladder. Sent from my iPhone using Norfolk Broads Network
  11. BBC breakfast this morning has had fairly extensive coverage on caravan parks re opening. The main theme seems to be wanting confirmation ASAP that 4th July is going ahead... Apparently the government has been consulting with the domestic tourism industry’s and has provides draft guidelines, they really need a date now. Sent from my iPhone using Norfolk Broads Network
  12. We have decided to do exactly that... lots of talking whilst on lockdown, and we have come to the conclusion that making memories with our children, whist they are young enough to want to spend time with us is the priority. Soo... we put our name down for a berth in our Yacht Clubs' marina and have decided to buy a yacht, for here in Poole Harbour. Sod it you only live once!
  13. Any loss of life is extremely sad, but a deep and long lasting recession will also cost countless lives. Poverty, Deprivation, suicides, health care cuts... It’s is a no win situation, just trying to pick a course through it all. Sent from my iPhone using Norfolk Broads Network
  14. Best wishes, and good luck with your plans for the future, new adventures lie ahead. Sent from my iPhone using Norfolk Broads Network
  15. Is he still afloat/about on the broads? Sent from my iPhone using Norfolk Broads Network
  16. This could be said for other virus’s that we have learnt to accept as risks. I am sure people come down with flu or Norovirus whilst on boats. Do they stay put? or risk transmitting it to others by going home? If you were at home, you would still need to arrange shopping. You can get grocery’s delivered to boatyards the same way you can at home. Sent from my iPhone using Norfolk Broads Network
  17. I thought it was the government saying we must all sleep at our primary residence that was stoping sleeping on board... Sent from my iPhone using Norfolk Broads Network
  18. Beautiful! Well done. Sent from my iPhone using Norfolk Broads Network
  19. A few things that occur to me are (and my thoughts are just that, not gospel...): The government knows that big recessions cost lives also. That a way to help the British economy is to allow domestic tourism to open up. Staycations are worth a lot of money. That we have to find a away to live with COVID-19. Which means minimising as much risk as possible, but not eliminating it. I feel they will stick with the July 4th if at all possible. Teachers weren’t given advance notice about schools opening... so I don’t think there will be a nod or a wink. But the industry has been working towards the 4th. I am predicting an announcement in a daily briefing by Borris sometime this week though... I am also a firm believer, that we will ALL tell ourselves what we want to hear... we will bend the facts to suit our needs. (and on that note I have a boat booked on the 4th July and it could be causing me to over optimistic). Sent from my iPhone using Norfolk Broads Network
  20. I think 4th July is likely... Sent from my iPhone using Norfolk Broads Network

  22. I guess the yards wishing to operate day boats will have had to update cleaning policies along the lines of the hire car companies. Enterprise Rent-A-Car have there's detailed on their website under their "Complete Clean Pledge" https://www.enterprise.co.uk/en/car-hire/on-call-for-all.html#4
  23. There have been huge problems with human waste being left behind at the beaches after all the crowds go home, the local press here has been full of residents complaining and having to do clear ups. It is really quite mind boggling what disgusting animals some people are.... boats or no boats.
  24. Doh! Sorry! Just seen the link! They are....
