  8. Hi Jill From a previous photo I have seen I am think the gentleman on the end of the front row is Mr Loynes if I am correct then one of the others is missing Ray
  9. If they have not been touched since the end of the season I am sure he is correct It will be a shame though if they all leave the hire fleets Ray
  10. I agree Iain Very sad news I wonder what will happen to there boats I understand two have been purchased by Bridge Craft and one sold private but that leaves a fair number hopefully some will remain with other yards Ray
  11. Hi Griff I was aware they where "B A's" sisters I remember they yard Foreman there telling us how they had built up the class at the time I do not think he was a GRP fan. They are great boats and would be one of my choices if buying a boat. The Magna's and Victor's I think where the same mould just more berths if they where then B A has quite few sisters or half sisters around. Gracie I agree North and South are both great and different like you I do not have the Breydon t/shirt and do not want it always treat Breydon with great respect watch the tides and time passage Ray
  12. Hi Griff Yes Hired Nos 4 and 6 also Star Tracker 1 (I think we hired that three times) Star Magna Super Star (Twice) Star Victor and of course Rippling Foam the first boat we went on. We took Star Tracker 1 out on its maiden voyage after coming back from the London Boat Show scared for the whole fortnight in case we marked it. I think nowdays I agree with Gracie and will try and support the smaller yards I have hired from Pacific once and hopefully will do again shortly. Gracie Ignore all the scare mongers they are only trying to keep you away is peaceful and calm down south try it. Ray
  13. Hi Vaughan Like Iain we where always loyal to the Boatyards rather than the craft Starting back in 1966 with Jack Powles for many years then again like Iain Porter and Haylett and onto Summercraft when Dick run the yard a real gentlemen. Over the years for early and late holidays though we used many yards including Astons, Hearts and Brooms In recent years Swancraft who have now closed so not sure where now, I do like starting and primarily cruising the Southern Broads these days Ray
  14. Susan took a real shine to my then young sister had her running around clearing tables in no time This thread does bring back real memories Ray
  15. Loddon comes under South Norfolk DC there where bins in the summer but a few weeks as Howard said no sign Ray
  16. From EDP it appears waste facilities are avaliable at Irstead Neatishead Hove ton Also I think Loddon Is it a good idea one of you cleaver IT people can make a list Ray
  17. I think you can also add the yacht stations at Norwich, Great Yarmouth, Oulton Broad and Beccles Ray
  18. Monica Being on hire craft you will I think be able to dispose of rubbish at hire yards so should not need to keep waste to long. From your report on the Southern rivers waste sites are avaliable at Bramerton,Somerleyton and Aldeby It would be good to set up a list on here for all NBN folk to use. Ray
  19. Siddy As I stayed previously I am commenting no further on the trade/ domestic waste issue but re council tax the small amount it costs to provide bins for tourism in general in Norfolk is far outweighed by the income generated by businesses selling to tourists this generates rates/tax that helps reduce council tax Norfolk is a beautiful county I am sure we all agree and tourism is one of if not it's primary source of revenue and employment Ray
  20. Dave Whilst I accept what you say as fact as I said earlier I cannot see the EA attempting to bring a prosecution against a boatyard in respect of one of there clients putting rubbish in a waste bin at say Reedham. I agree that any waste from any buisness is trade waste therefore if a family hires a cottage and goes out on a picnic and puts waste in a bin the owner of the let is responsible in law and could therefore be prosecuted similarly the rules would apply to vehicle hire companies companies who hire out motor homes caravans etc Even the EA who as you say will be prosecute anything would not risk that type of prosecution. We still get back to the fact it is the Local Authority who are responsible for collecting domestic waste including general and fly tipped waste The EA only as the responsibility of ensuring it is disposed of correctly If as you say boatyards should set up a separate network and pay for it what about the other trade users holiday let's etc would just get ridiculous. surely if each local authority accepts as in general they do that waste deposited in there area is there responsibility to collect we do not have a problem if the authorities in Norfolk was to promote tourism as I said before the cost is a very small price to pay in respect of the overall income generated through tourists visiting the area. I think I have said enough on this subject Ray
  21. Hi Dave I agree with you re EA like you have plenty of dealings with them and as you say they do and will prosecute but clearing of waste is the Local authorities responsibility perhaps when rubbish gets left in heaps where waste bins once where the EA will prosecute the local authority. I also agree the law is there to stop rubbish dumping where I disagree is the point personnel waste becomes trade waste in the boatyard yes it is the boatyards responsibility to dispose within the law I do not think the boatyard as a responsibility in respect of waste disposed by individual whilst hiring one of there craft, if you took that to an extreme car hire companies wold be responsible for waste generated in there carsThe The real issue is that if local authorities around the broads want to promote tourism to generate income within there area they need to provide facilities for the tourist the cost of which is very small compared with revenue generated Ray
  22. Dave Just one final thought you rightly state the bins on Great Yarmouth sea front are for domestic waste therefore MR and Mrs Smith staying at a Guest House in Great Yarmouth can put waste in a bin on the sea front as domestic waste but the same couple on a hire craft put waste in a bin at Reedham and the Hire company should pay as trade waste totally wrong Ray
  23. I am sorry Dave I totally disagree with you. the Hire companies have a responsibility as trade waste to deal with waste from there yard and by inference left on craft vacated by hirer's waste generated by individuals on craft is not trade waste are you saying people are now trade Hirer's any way only for a percentage of people who use waste bins what about private boaters fisherman tourists and local,s out for the day These sites provide a service to the Public in general not just hirer's of craft they are therefore the local authorities responsibility and as Andy states given the small cost they are extremely good value for money the alternative is waste will be dumped at sites with no bins and the local authority will face even greater cost ib clearing fly tipping I bet no local authority or BA are brave enough to try a prosecution for disposal of so called trade waste from hire craft in court. Having run a waste disposal buisness in a previous life I am well aware of the rules Ray Ray
