  1. And the rag ‘n sticks that need more room anyway…….
  2. Looks rather like a floating ice cream parlour!
  3. Can we expect a few food reviews Ian?
  4. Good luck in your new home, I hope you settle in quickly and are soon able to find time to get out on the rivers.
  5. I had both hips replaced 15 and 16 years ago and came out of hospital both times with sticks so I was somewhat surprised to have crutches this time around. (I see the physio again next week and will quiz him as to why the difference.) In fact, I’ll be honest now and say that I am using one crutch and one stick temporarily while my husband mends the second stick that I have managed to break!
  6. That was good. Recovery is much better at home the experts tell us. I had some BP issues too, too high to start with then a bit low the day after the op! Whizzing round on crutches now, I just wish my two little dogs wouldn’t try to ‘help’ me each time I move. I wish you a speedy full recovery.
  7. I believe the op has already booked - Can’t avoid Breydon then!
  8. How long are you in hospital for Carole?
  9. Going to be very interesting up the Ant today then! I’m pretty sure he is a solo cruiser, never seen anybody else with him. I wonder if a ranger might politely ask him to about-turn.
  10. He’s clearly managed to negotiate the GY bridges ok. Must admit, I wouldn’t like to meet him coming the opposite way on the Ant however, I don’t think he’d get under Ludham Bridge!
  11. We’ve seen Hewland many times this year, I think the owner must be a continuous cruiser. It’s a beautiful barge, just fits North Cove or Worlingham but not much room for anyone else!
  12. Many years ago we hired Shining Light from HW, the helm on that is further forward and quite honestly it spoiled things for whoever was at the helm. It’s surely much better to be more underneath the sliding canopy so you can take advantage of the open air/sunshine? I think it’s good to have these reviews and they must be a help to potential hirers. Funny old week weather wise wasn’t it, seemed all over the place. You certainly made the most of it anyway.
  13. Oh how I love (not) the compression stockings. I’ve had them on for the past three days as a very nice man gave me a new knee on Thursday. Luckily I don’t have to continue wearing them now I am home. (I have quite a collection of them already - white and an awful dark green colour!) Like you, I had a Covid swab and had to isolate after. Not very pleasant those swabs are they!!! Good luck for Monday Carole, concentrate on that glass (or two) of wine that will be waiting 🍷.
  14. Always been closed wintertime. Maybe the food plans are seasonal.
  15. First boat we ever looked at when looking to buy was a Broom Robb 24 - Belinda Y945 from Potter. Nice boat but we decided it was going to be a tad compact with 2 dogs.
  16. I’m waiting for someone to mention wattle and daub………
  17. Could be a challenge! Bound to be someone who’d take that challenge. Might be interesting going down the Yare on an ebb too.
  18. Portable toilet under one bunk, cooker (2 rings only probably) under the other bunk. Sink? Plastic bowl next to portable toilet under bunk. Remaining space under second bunk for cardboard box for clothes etc. It’s called compact living.
  19. Says it cannot be taken on the northern rivers, maybe because it wouldn’t make it across Breydon?!
  20. The bridges at Great Yarmouth, St Olaves, Beccles (if you want to go up to Geldeston/Locks Inn) and Norwich bridges will all need transiting at low water. Reedham and Somerleyton are swing bridges which will open for you.
  21. Re Beccles YS, sometimes there are units left on the electric posts. A lot of people don’t know about putting leftover credit back on to the cards.
