  1. Was it the Bilge pump gone? - could well have been - after a time the bilge pump would have drained the battery and would not work any more - especially if the batteries were not in a good state to start with.
  2. The increase was expected but its not good. This year on the southern broads the number of boats has decreased. We now moor at locations devoid of boats where a few years ago it was difficult to get a mooring. The number of hired boats has also decreased - they will decrease even more now.
  3. Often walk along the footpath by Hardley Dyke. Lots of moorings there - close together and a dead end dyke. Whats the max length of boat that could moor there - any idea of the cost of a mooring??? The dyke is quite narrow but at the end is a turning point where a 35 foot boat could turn. Most of the moorings have small craft on them - have seen a few Broom 30 foot craft moored there.
  4. we were moored at the cross when the tug boat from reedham went past towing the broads boat alongside. They towed it down as far as reedham ferry and then left it there overnight along with the tug boat. The broads boat looked dirty and had not been used for a while - maybe just a shell awaiting completion.
  5. switched from calor gas to flogas about 6 weeks ago - could not get the calor 4.5 kg bottles anymore. New initial hire charge for the flogas bottles is about £20 plus. \\\\\\flowgas bottles are about 30mm taller than the calor bottles and slightly more in circumference. They also need a clip on regulator - our bottles take the 21mm clip on regulator.
  6. Went to The Cross at the weekend all footpaths have now been cut. Lets hope that they are cut again before too long.
  7. Anyone remembers the waveney river centre some ten plus years ago. Tony was the owner. Doug (RIP) organised the visitors moorings and lived on site part time in a caravan with his wife. Great times then it was always busy, the pub was always full in the evenings - food in the restaurant was good.
  8. Read all the posts about the problems with overgrown footpaths. For us the problem is in this year. For the last five years plus the footpaths around the cross area and the berney area have been cut possibly four times in the growing season which has maintained the footpaths so that people can walk on them. This year is different - they dont cut the footpaths grass is four feet high in places. Over the years we have got to know the man who cuts the footpaths around the cross and we have also seen him cutting the footpaths from reedham to the berney area - this year we have not seen him. The remote footpath around the island from St Olaves along the cut and then along the Yare and then back along the waveney to St Olaves in previous years has been cut - this year its not been cut at all.
  9. In previous years footpaths around the broads have been cut. This year footpaths around the cross and the berney area have not been cut for a long time. Grass is around four feet high on the footpaths anyone else noticed the problem...Dave R...........
  10. We were moored at the Berney last night and at about 6 am this morning a large coastguard helicopter appeared to be searching Breydon water and up as far as goodchilds.
  11. Is it necessary to renew the fire extinguishers if the pressure indicators still reveal full pressure???
  12. The flogas butane bottles have the clip on regulator -- does anyone know if a boat will pass the boat safety certificate with the clip on regulator??
  13. we went over to flogas 4.5kg bottles a while ago now. The base ring was wider than the calor and the height was fractionally taller but with slight modification the new cylinders went into the gas locker on our Broom 10/70. Flogas bottles seem to be readily available. The regulator has to be of the clip on type.
  14. ADB marine at reedham can do pump outs. Its an up and coming boatyard and well placed. Last time I enquired they were not able to supply fuel but were looking into it. If they are able to supply fuel in the future that would be good for the company and for boaters.
  15. On my beta there are taps on the flow and return t- is one blocked or has the tap been turned off.
  16. Info is that there was a very high tide on that day above the concrete quay heading and the boat was damaged as a result of a collision with the underwater concrete obstruction.
  17. ADB Marine at Reedham have a boatyard just the yarmouth side of the bridge. They offer a 7 day emergency call out and towing service. Details on their website. Contact number is 01493701177
  18. Still a shortage and almost impossible to get 4.5 kg from calor. We have now gone over to Flogas which is readily available in North suffolk. Flogas need a clip on Regulator.
  19. Noticed that there is what looks like a good wildlife centre by the side of the river yare between the mill and hardly dyke. Lots of work has been done and there are two new hides there. Does anyone know about it - I cant find a reference to it on the web.
  20. Always impressed by pacific cruisers when we see them. Clean and well looked after.
  21. The supply of calor gas 4.5 kg bottles is almost non existent now - we have been trying for weeks to get a replacement calor bottle. Flogas 4,5 KG bottles are more readily available but you need a different regulator.
  22. Good brushes from East Coast fibreglass, use them for painting as well as laminating, plastic handles. Twelve two inch brushes for £11 plus VAT and carriage. Also available in other sizes
  23. Ive posted a comment on the facebook Calor Gas page asking for clarification about the replacement new 4.5 kg bottles and what dimensions they are - we may get a reply.
  24. If you scroll down on the flogas site to specification it gives the height and diameter of the 4.5 butane cylinders
  25. There has been a shortage of the calor 4.5 butane bottles for sometime. An alternative to calor is Flogas which is easy to get . They do a 4.5 kg bottle. The height and diameter is the same as the old calor bottles (Ht 340mm Dia 240mm) Like calor they charge you about £30 when you first hire the bottle from them. Refills are cheaper than Calor. Regulators on their bottles are clip on.
