  1. Often walk along the footpath by Hardley Dyke. Lots of moorings there - close together and a dead end dyke. Whats the max length of boat that could moor there - any idea of the cost of a mooring??? The dyke is quite narrow but at the end is a turning point where a 35 foot boat could turn. Most of the moorings have small craft on them - have seen a few Broom 30 foot craft moored there.

  2. switched from calor gas to flogas about 6 weeks ago - could not get the calor 4.5 kg bottles anymore. New initial hire charge for the flogas bottles is about £20 plus. \\\\\\flowgas bottles are about 30mm taller than the calor bottles and slightly more in circumference. They also need a clip on regulator - our bottles take the 21mm clip on regulator.

  3. Anyone remembers the waveney river centre some ten plus years ago. Tony was the owner. Doug (RIP) organised the visitors moorings and lived on site part time in a caravan with his wife. Great times then it was always busy, the pub was always full in the evenings - food in the restaurant was good.

  4. Read all the posts about the problems with overgrown footpaths. For us the problem is in this year. For the last five years plus the footpaths around the cross area and the berney area have been cut possibly four times in the growing season which has maintained the footpaths so that people can walk on them. This year is different - they dont cut the footpaths grass is four feet high in places. Over the years we have got to know the man who cuts the footpaths around the cross and we have also seen him cutting the footpaths from reedham to the berney area - this year we have not seen him. The remote footpath around the island from St Olaves along the cut and then along the Yare and then back along the waveney to St Olaves in previous years has been cut - this year its not been cut at all.

  5. ADB marine at reedham can do pump outs. Its an up and coming boatyard and well placed. Last time I enquired they were not able to supply fuel but were looking into it. If they are able to supply fuel in the future that would be good for the company and for boaters.

  6. The supply of calor gas 4.5 kg bottles is almost non existent now - we have been trying for weeks to get a replacement calor bottle. Flogas 4,5 KG bottles are more readily available but you need a different regulator.

  7. There has been a shortage of the calor 4.5 butane bottles for sometime. An alternative to calor is Flogas which is easy to get . They do a 4.5 kg bottle. The height and diameter is the same as the old calor bottles (Ht 340mm Dia 240mm) Like calor they charge you about £30 when you first hire the bottle from them. Refills are cheaper than Calor. Regulators on their bottles are clip on.
