  1. We usually stay at Bumble Barn near Dilham prior or after being on Moonlight Shadow and if anyone wants an insight into what it's like it will be on the channel 4 show, 4 in a bed all next week at 6pm https://www.facebook.com/share/p/fFjhvjHQJUm9tyV2/
  2. Its the thought that counts! We have always tried to offer experiences and have had a static caravan, speedboat we used to take to Lake Windermere (when they allowed water-skiing!!), when we sold that we bought a touring caravan and had loads of great holidays, had a place in Spain we stopped at regularly and basically did as many things as possible to give our son "life experiences" We have done many City breaks around the world and F1 is also a passion. The Broads though were always seen as an annual "given" and they were always the place our son, our dogs, our friends and ourselves...............enjoyed the most! Hence why we are still visiting today and introducing our granddaughter this year!

I have worked in our legal system for over 30 years and can say categorically that it is broken! It is now focused solely on money and has NOTHING to do with justice If justice was the case all courts would be a forum for TRUTH But sadly they are just a vehicle for the judicial system to eeek out as many funds from the system as possible Mr Bates and the Post Office is a fine example and just the tip of the iceberg of the priorities of the judicial system in the UK Over £40 million initially awarded with very little for the victims! TRUTH and JUSTICE are irrelevant to the majority in this broken system!
  4. I still recall mooring alongside you at Oulton Broad and a lovely evening that was.. Sad that you have sold your boat, but fully understand as we once considered purchasing a boat outright but now feel that syndicate membership suits us to the ground. We are now considering purchasing a second share ion a boat but have moved away from full ownership as the costs are just ridiculous!! I fully understand the appeal of a motorhome and wish you the very best as i am currently looking at options for Silverstone for the British GP in 2025 which I WILL be attending and a motorhome option is high up on in my options!!
  5. I believe they are staying at the Dog Inn site but not 100% sure https://thedoginnludham.co.uk/camping/ They previously stayed at the Norfolk Broads Campsite https://www.caravanclub.co.uk/club-sites/england/east-anglia/norfolk/norfolk-broads-club-campsite/?utm_source=localsearch&utm_medium=organic&utm_campaign=gmb But on this occasion they are travelling around the East coast and decided to stop off at Ludham for a couple of nights and as they had never been on the rivers we said we would take them up to Wroxham for lunch and then "bimble" back stopping off at Salhouse, Horning or elsewhere as we make our way back to Ludham bridge for the night and then a walk to the Dog Inn for evening meal and drinks so they are back "home" and we can head back to the boat
  6. Not long now and we are back and it seems such a looooooooooooooooooooooong time ago since we were here! Well it was!! We arrive in Norfolk on 1st May for 2 days at Bumble Barn (The B&B of the Cross Keys, Dilham with the wonderful Paul and Karen as the owners) with Roxy and Yogi. We have to be more careful with Roxy these days as she is approaching 10 years of age which is a good age for a Newfie and she is starting to get a little stiff in the back legs. Just a couple of chill days before making our way to Horning Pleasurecraft to pick up Moonlight Shadow on Friday 3rd May. Its a bit of a mix this time as our son, daughter in law and granddaughter with their dog Bleu were meant to join us Saturday until Tuesday, but the thought of 4 adults, 1 grandchild, 2 newfies and a welsh collie on board sent shivers down my spine! As such we booked Conway Bridge from Bridgecraft as a treat for them and selfishly to give us a little more space, but we have some Motorola PMR446 2-Way Walkie Talkies to communicate as we travel and we will just be focussing on doing things that benefit a 19 month old granddaughter who has never visited the broads, so lots of feeding the birds, running around and enjoying life "safely" around the water. Salhouse looks like one of our stops!! As such we will be travelling down to Acle on the Saturday and meet them before a few days of fun before returning to Acle Monday evening for a family meal at the Bridge Inn before they leave the broads on Tuesday morning. Then a quiet day Tuesday before meeting some more friends who have a mobile home and have booked a pitch at Ludham near the Dog Inn, so we have planned to meet them at Ludham bridge on Wednesday morning to take them up to Wroxham, and back before finishing off the evening at the Dog Inn before they retire. Its getting closer now and I cant wait!! It has been far too looooooooong!
  7. I don't know if anyone has seen the Masters of the Air series currently on Apple TV together with the accompanying documentary, but it certainly does give an excellent insight into the "bloody hundredth" who were based at Thorpe Abbott's airfield south of Norwich. There is also a museum here which is open Saturdays, Sundays, some money dweek days and Bank Holidays (please double check opening times). The website currently states: Free Entry Open weekends from March to end of October 10am-5pm. Additional opening Wednesdays 10am-5pm May through September. Also open bank holidays. Last admission 4pm. Please check out their website for more information https://www.100bgmus.org.uk/ For anyone who hasn't seen the series and is interested, I do highly recommend it
  8. Enjoy Loddon One of our favourite locations Great walks for the dogs, nice cafes, good shops, excellent takeaways and the odd pub which likes dogs!!
  9. Totally agree with the comments and I would certainly try and keep our VERY LARGE dogs away from others and tend to sit outside our find a quiet spot in the pub, so if people do want to come over and say hello they can, but allow those who dont want to be around dogs, have their space also. Its about being respectful and a good owner I though tend to steer clear of pubs who dont allow dogs or even children, even if I didn't have my dogs with me or my children or grandchildren, because a public house in my view should be that....a place for the public!
  10. I would suggest the poster appears to be a witness to an event occurring and his history has no relevance whatsoever to the actions taken by the skipper trying to legitimately moor and the 2 fishermen. To suggest otherwise shows it is you who appears to be shaking a jar against the poster of the video............ If this was me trying to moor, I would thank him for recording the video and request a copy, so I could take it further and provide the evidence for other boaters so they can protect themselves and their vessels, not attack the poster for his past actions he may or may not have taken.
  11. It is interesting to me that boaters have had issues with fishermen at Gayes Staithe and Neatished previously and we even had a members boat having paint thrown on it at Neatished in the past. These guys need a visit from the rangers as being a cynical ex detective it doesn't take much to put 2 and 2 together and suggest that these "may" be our offenders as the vast majority of the fishing community are spot on, but these are 2 unsavoury characters. The comments section states the BA aren't interested which I find alarming They have pushed the boat away, they have threatened to throw the skipper in the water and they are wrong in their assumption that the boat has no right to moor If that doesn't deserve a visit I don't know what does I would also report it to the broads police for their information at the very least as this could go very wrong with a slightly more determined skipper!!!
  12. I have never stayed at Langley Dyke overnight but we had stopped off for a lunch break and / or to let the dogs stretch their legs many times I couldn't find if they charge for that....
  13. I think its a fantastic development and great news for Horning and the local economy It is a challenge running any business, but the best ones succeed as they never sit still as they are always moving forward and looking at new ways to develop, diversify and grow Well done Clive and the team at Horning Pleasurecraft I look forward to seeing it come to fruition from our mooring base at HPC
  14. I had a speedboat registered in Lake Windermere. Family and friends would go up most weekends for messing around on the water, water skiing and just enjoying the great outdoors. We have wonderful memories of a vibrant place which catered for a wide variety of people from walkers, swimmers, water sports enthusiasts to those who just liked a coffee and cake and watch the world go by. Sold it when the speed limit came in and haven't been back to Windermere since!
  15. Every time I read the minutes it just comes across as another dictatorship with a single narrative (their own!)and not a balanced, open, honest, self examining and accountable organisation. They really do need to take off the blinkers and engage better with the boating community and operators. Reminds me of another organisation!
  16. Excellent write up Helen I look forward to receiving the Moonlight Shadow website version https://moonlightshadow.net/
  17. I am sure you have made the right decision and if you need any support / advice by all means get in touch with me (I am treasurer of the Moonlight Shadow Syndicate) , @Mouldy (Chair of the syndicate) and @YnysMon (Helen who is the secretary) We are more than happy to share ideas and even look to bring the syndicate boats together as a co-operative group of self run syndicates where we share best practice and support for each other (This may help with such things as insurance, mooring costs, access to the bridge pilot, upgrades, breakdown cover, and more). Just an idea but it may be an option in the future. All the best
  18. Thanks for the heads up with this as I wasn't aware Our supplier is a local farm who supplies wholesale and retail They are a 5 minute drive from our house https://www.petaroni.com/ But they supply raw foods in rolls which are quite large and we struggle to get many in the freezer compartment, so when away we tend to get the Pets at Home ones which come in blocks as you can fit more of these in the freezer If coming for a fortnight we also bring a mobile freezer box which keeps them chilled until we need them They have only one block shared (half each) with a dry biscuit mix (Roxy one cup, Yogi 2 cups) and they share a can of pilchards which are mixed in with the raw food and biscuits because the fish oil is good for their coats So we tend to come away with 7 blocks, 7 tins of pilchards and a bag of dry food which lasts us the week For breakfast Roxy just has half a cup of dry food and Yogi has a full cup Roxy has less because she is an older dog and we are trying to keep her weight under control She got up to 76Kg and currently she is 70Kg which is around 11 stone! What a beautiful morning This is our current view
  19. Yes, it's even more fun when we are naked! 😂🤣😂🤣🤣
  20. Friday 9th June We started the day with another terrific breakfast at Bumble Barn, before packing, saying our goodbyes and heading off for some much needed provisions. We first went to Pets at home for some raw food for Roxy and Yogi and then made our way to Tesco for some groceries and other provisions. What a faff at Tesco! There were roadworks which were being managed by a guy with a stop / go sign! Letting 100 vehicle into the car park and only 20 out at a time didn't appear to work!!!! The car park was gridlocked and took us 30 minutes to get off! Julie was rather.....perturbed, but I couldn't care less! We refueled and then headed for Ranworth as we didn't think Moonlight Shadow would be ready yet and it was only around 12 midday I wasn't surprised to see there was around 8 to 10 spaces available which was not the case last June! But no doubt Mr Packman will wait until it's full to take a picture to prove his strategy is working! I just hope the businesses are able to survive in this period of uncertainty. We had a coffee in the Granary and a slice of Carrot cake before making the journey to Horning Pleasurecraft arriving around 2pm What a glorious day! The sun is out, the skies clear and that annoying wind was getting lighter We packed the boat and headed off with our destination Fleet Dyke We "bimbled" down the river bure and arrived at Fleet Dyke around 3pm This is our final destination today as it's perfect for the dogs, the roof is down and the wine bottle is open We are now chilling for the evening in a beautiful location Roxy and Yogi are both shattered so are now spread out in the saloon and galley respectively So it's Newfie Twister for us tonight as we negotiate the dogs to get to the fridge!! 😂🤣
  21. We are going to head to the Norwich one Pets at Home, 4, Sprowston retail park, Salhouse Rd, Norwich NR7 9AZ
  22. We arrived in Norfolk from our home in Bolton, Lancashire around 2pm on Wednesday 7th June as we did our usual M61 towards Manchester, M62 over the Pennines , A1 down to Newark and across the A17 and A47 to our destination which was Bumble Barn, Anchor St, Tunstead NR12 8HR which would be our home for 2 nights before we board Moonlight Shadow in Horning on Friday 9th June. We just love Bumble Barn, its great for the dogs and a really wonderful place to stay close to the places we wont be able to get to on MS this week, so we can instead use this as a base as we go by car The owners of Bumble Barn are also the Landlord of the Cross Keys at Dilham and we made our way there the first evening and I had Bangers and Mash followed by Apple Pie with a lovely serving of vanilla ice cream. Julie went for Lasagne followed by the cheesecake. All was delicious! We had an early night on the Wednesday as the travelling had caught up with us, but we firstly had a mighty breakfast served in our room at Bumble Barn before heading off out with the first stop of the day being Oulton Broad to give the Newfies a swim. The Yacht Station only had 2 hire boats and it appeared very quiet Roxy and Yogi entered via the slipway and went for a swim on what was a rather chilly breezy day, but we were able to sit on a bench afterwards as they dried off on the grass, watching the world go by @YnysMon had previously mentioned that she went to Caister on Sea with her dogs so we thought we would call and have a look on the way back, giving our Newfies the opportunity to have a walk on the soft sandy beach with strict instructions to stay out of the water as we didnt want to dry them again!! They did just that and loved the feeling of the sand between their toes! We only stayed at Caister for half an hour before we were off again as Julie wanted to have a look around Wroxham Barns and I sat on a bench near to the Norfolk Cider Shop (with free samples!!) with Roxy and Yogi. I didnt go for a sample as cider really isnt my favourite tipple and I dont really drink it, unless its flavoured with fruit or something to hide that awful taste!! (in my opinion!) This probably stems from my childhood as my parents used to go out every Friday and Saturday night and they would pick up some films from the local video shop, family size snacks and a bottle of strongbow or woodpecker cider and say watch your films have a drink, eat some snacks and we will see you later! I was about 10 or 11 at the time and my brother was younger It didnt do us any harm but no doubt social services would come knocking if it happened now! After we left Wroxham Barns, we headed back to Bumble Barn to get ready for an evening out at the Ferry House, Surlingham as we had planned to meet Fred and Lisa who are our friends who reside in Little Plumstead just outside Salhouse and we normally have a meal out with them when down. Since Moonlight Shadow had been moved to Horning we hadnt got to the Ferry House as often as we would have liked as its one of our favourites , so we decided to drive across and it certainly didnt disappoint with Julie going for the Chicken Curry, Fred the Ribeye Steak, Lisa the baguette with chips and I went for the Steak and Ale in a giant Yorkshire pudding with chips and mushy peas We got back to Bumble Barn around 10pm and settled down for the night Its now Friday morning and we are getting things ready to go across to Horning, but first the Bumble Barn breakfast, walk the dogs, nip to the supermarket for provisions and Pets at Home for some food for the dogs. We are back in August and have already booked Bumble Barn for 2 nights at the end of our week, as we just love this place and it is sooooooooo relaxing!!!
  23. I came out of that group as I became tired of all the moaning and complaining without actually constructing a viable argument and options to improve matters. In my opinion it became very much like many other Facebook groups which tend to be taken over by trash talkers and the articulate argument gets lost. I have read the post and now feel, they have a great opportunity to move forward positively and professionally as long as they moderate it correctly.
  24. We will be watching it at home on the TV and then over to the F1 to hopefully see Max spitting his dummy out, again, because someone dared overtake him!
  25. You obviously have never owned a Newfoundland....🤣😂🤣😂
