  1. Saw this go through Skipton a few months ago, wasn't quick enough with the camera, but with a name like Beccles unmistakably from the broads Sent from my G3121 using Tapatalk
  2. Ooh didn't know the nymr had a webcam, added to my list of ca me s Sent from the Norfolk Broads Network mobile app
  3. Depends what you are using it for, I was using the blutooth and wifi tethering whilst on the boat this year, only thing you need to be aware of is the battery usage, as you are pushing both blutooth and wifi signals out of your phone Sent from the Norfolk Broads Network mobile app
  4. Hey, there really isn't a tablet phone thing anymore, and to geta phone with a 7 inch + screen you will be pushing the, upper limits of prices. Personally I would go for the oneplus 5 only problem is that it is a small screen 5.5", however there are rumours of a larger screen coming soon, it is also the cheapest high end long lasting phone on the market at about £500. If this isn't an option id look into the, Google Pixel whichay well be coming down in price, as there is a new one coming out soon. Both should last a good while, and are much easier to use than a Samsung device, (stock android in both cases), I normally look a generation back as they are much cheaper than, the flagship models and still do what you want, hope this was of some help. 5. All we'd need is a 12v lighter socket, and I didn't know Richardsons had woodies, I'll look into them. Unfortunately due to ages of party members yachts are out of the questions, even so i don't trust my yachting skill on woodies yet. Sent from the Norfolk Broads Network mobile app
  6. Hi guys, I was looking at boats to hire next year possibly, and I saw a few old wooden boats for hire, and I was thinking where are the best places to hire them from, preferably on the northern broads, (if possible) I have looked at Water Rail, but is a bit small if all the family comes along. Any recommendations? Sent from the Norfolk Broads Network mobile app
  7. Do you have Android or Apple? I myself have an Android phone, and use a free GPS speedometer from the play store, this does decemal places for speed, very useful. Unfortunately I can't attatch a photo, wrong file type, link is here. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ascendapps.aaspeedometer Sent from the Norfolk Broads Network mobile app
  8. It looks like a good initiative, kudos to the RNLI, and can we put the national park thing to rest? We all know it isn't. Sent from the Norfolk Broads Network mobile app
  9. Interesting, i agree th proportions are off, when we were on the broads last week i was saying that the cockpit pf rexmoore is too stubby nice boat but a tad stubby, only reason I say it is an ex rexmoore, is due to what i heard when, brinkcraft bought out moores they said ome was going to the Thames i don't know how reliable that is but hey Sent from the Norfolk Broads Network mobile app
  10. This is the website unfortunately i can't read the name due to the format on my phone but here is the link Edit; the name's in the link, Caversham Boat Services http://www.cavershamboatservices.co.uk/html/marquis.html Sent from the Norfolk Broads Network mobile app
  11. I've seen a few ex broads crusers, of many designs on the leeds liverpool canal, recently, one was registered in beccles i believe or tat was its name not too sure, i have seen one or two buccaneers and the odd Hampton safari i believe or very good replicas i didn't snap a photo :( really should have done. I would also add one of the old rexmoore's (belive they were called moores 40's or similar) has made its way onto the themes, still a hire cruiser, which is interesting. The great ouse near, little Ouseburn near York has a large quantity of ex Broads boats. Sent from the Norfolk Broads Network mobile app
  12. Hi, I don't know how much you like/dislike Apple but I have never had any problems with my iPads (on my second, upgraded to the pro 9.7, after iMovie was no longer supported) my old iPad 2 still works smashed screen and bent chassis, still works well enough for my backup, I have had too problems with Android tablets for me to bother with them (I do however have an Android phone and will never get an iPhone) my personal opinion, only hope it helps. 13. The only problem we have ever had, with Sonnet is that blasted anchor winch, never in the four years we have hired her, that the winch hasn't, played up. Never put a dampener on the holiday, more of a nucence.
  14. when it comes to electric boats, I think the biggest problem with them is the life of the battery, though i have done some "back of the envelope" calculations and (my Maths isn't the best) on an old centre cockpit (merrymoore size) with the best Li-ion batteries COULD POSSIBLY last for 1 1/2 days in a best use scenario (note i was using Tesla cars and motors as a reference and only using the floor-space benithe the cockpit to house the Batteries as there would be no engine) ATM the one thing holding back fully electric boating and also the cost. This is a ROUGH calculated ESTIMATE
  15. How do you use the Electric posts? (trivial I know) I have a feeling that they may be different than the last ones (which i have never used), I do however think that they may be installing a system the likes of "Ecotrisities" electric highways, (for electric cars) where you buy a card and top it up when you need it, thus meaning you need an account as they may allow use of mobile phone (in fact they may encourage it). Just a thought
  16. This should really be written down in a book of some sort, is there a book on the hire yards of wroxham? It would be a limited market but it'd be interesting to read, and more up to date than the book I have ha, which is from around 1882 by a person with the name HG Davis, (I stumbled across this in Bolton Abbey book shop tad far from the Broads)
  17. Hi Vaughan, If what you are saying is correct, (I have no reason to doubt) that brings another question up as to whether when Barnes BC bought Moores were they still part of Powels, or had Powels gone by that point? I do however remember my grandparents saying that the reason Moores was sold was due to a family member not wanting to take it on (I can't cross reference this) but if they were owned by Poewels that kinda blows tinfo out of the water.
  18. Hi Vaughan, What you said about Moores has me wondering whether it was Moores or Jenners that was bought by Barnes Brinkcraft, in around 2007/8 and I can't remember picking up the Moores boats from the Hoveton side I always seem to remember picking them up opposite Brinkcraft, then again I was only about 7 when we last hired from Moores, so my memory is iffy (though I can remember swimming in the pool Moores had) as to which side of the bridge it was, Wroxham or Hoveton. Either way I find it confusing looking at who bought who and I'm still quite young.
  19. Where I am there is some wind but nothing to complain about it was worse on tuesday, though it has just stopped raining must be in the eye, though we need some felt on the shed roof from tues. Good luck to those with the wind, stay safe
  20. Hi Phil, The plumbing problem is mainly the problem of what the previous hirers put down the loo (typically we get the problem ), though you can only tell them, but I think it would be prudent to tell everyone not to put certain things down the loo. As for the video if I wern't so far away I'd do it haha, but you don't need to be seen in the video, in fact most people would find it more useful with a GoPro or somthing strapped to a person of average height or as what the industry calls it a Point of View camera (POV), and have either subtitles or a voice over to say what you are looking at Gallipoli (James)
  21. Hi Vaughn, I reckon it is the Queen although we don't have any photos, it would also explain why he preferd center cockpits, (as do I) and also why the first boat he took me on was Rexmoore (I belive it's the one that Pacific have). I do however, remeber him saying that he went back with a friend on three and the weather was horrid (methinks this is why he didn't like yachts ), i do wonder though where was the yard and did it have anything to do with Moores/Brinkcraft? Thanks, Gallipoli (James)
  22. Hi all, This just came to me, my grandad told me a long time ago, that his first expirience of the broads was on Queen of Hearts I think it was a yacht, not too sure. The years he would have been on it would have been the latter end of the 40's through to the 50's/60's, unfortunatly he died four years ago and I don't remeber much of what he told me about it. Any help in this would be greatly appriceated, Thanks Gallipoli (James)
  23. Hi all, Having hired Sonnet for the last 4 years in a row an she being fully elec the batteries we have found there good never run out or had a problem, the plumbing is however a different story. This isn't soley to do with Seranade but more widely with your fleet would you be in the future doing video tours of the boats (like Robins, the Capitains Blog?) because when we have been chosing some of my family have found it hard to visulise the space, and a video or two would help. Anyway Seranade looks nice so does Encore and am I right in thinking that there are two of each boat?
  24. I remember when Brinkcraft tokk over Moores that was a sad day although unlike royalls there boats wee getting poorly maintained, as a result only 6 of the boats remain in the fleet (if i have counted correctly ) so it wouldn't suprise me to see most of the Royalls boats get sold next year
  25. Somthing my Grandma said when she looked at the boat; "Still no duel helm seats, and the sofa doesn't look comfy" this is somthing that has been said a lot in our house, now I know that the helm seat on 'Seranade' is being looked at but I am wondering if the next boat brinkcraft are building (I can't remember the name) will have a duel seat, after all It is for couples? Also with the fully electric gally will it have an electric oven or will it be that god-forsaken Combi-oven I hope it will. over all I like the boat a return to the old styles somthing better suited to the broads (I personally am not a fan of the duel-helm cruisers).
