  1. Hi Ghosty, If you PM me and do not get a reply, it's because I am away on holiday between 24th May and about 10th June. Brian J.
  2. No, I checked with WRC and I can sublet.
  3. Hi Ghosty, If it helps, I have a 7 metre mooring available at the Waveney River Centre which I paid for before selling my boat - I know, - stupid!! The mooring has electric hook up and water and the marina has full facilities. I paid £1295.00 for the year to Marcch 31st 2012 but would sell on at a very good discount, (try offering somewhere around half) Brian J.
  4. Thames and Kennet marina, part of the Tingdene group. Price is for 2011 - 2012 Brian J.
  5. As you said, prices on the Broads are very competetive with other parts of the country. The reason I was moving to Norfolk from the Thames was that a pontoon mooring with power and water on the Thames was going to be £ 2,500.00 for a 23ft boat compared to £1295.00 for the same facilities on the Broads - it was a no brainer!! Unfortunately I no longer have a boat. Brian J.
  6. As my previous posting, I was fully aware that there was a no refund policy, but that WRC were quite happy for me to sell on if I could find a buyer. I rang them today to ask if there was a shortage of moorings, hoping that they might buy back ( even at a discounted price), but they had spare capacity, so no go. They did say they would email me if anything changed. I have no axe to grind with WRC, they have been more than friendly and helpful with all my dealings with them. My last post was meant to be tongue in cheek as a riposte to Bills posting. Brian J.
  7. Idea!! Perhaps one of the forum members who is moored at the WRC could do a check now and again on Dyke mooring number 10 and if it is occupied then PM me so that I could chase WRC for the fee. That would put a stop to any sheenanigans wouldn't it? Any takers? Brian J.
  8. They will not give me a refund even though I haven't used it. Probably the same with the B.A. but I will phone the B.A. to check. As far as th W.R.C are concerned I can sell on and then inform them of the new owners details. Brian J.
  9. Hi All, Have been a member of the forum for a few months now, but without a boat on the Broads. The plan was to bring my Freeman 23 up from the Thames and moor her at the W.R.C. I paid for a years mooring and for a years B.A. licence and I have now sold her ( due to increasing old aged joints ). So if anyone is after a mooring at the W.R.C. then make me an offer I can't refuse and it's all yours. I still hope to visit on a hire boat - knees permitting - so may yet get to say Hi to some of you in person. Brian J.

    Tolls

Thanks Senator, You have clarified the situation somewhat. I now understand that all things being equal ( which they never are ) the bridge is operational until we hear differently and that it is likely to change in the future if the rumours turn out to be true. What degree of reliability does the rumour hold? Brian J.

    Tolls

Although my boat, Avon Dawn, is not yet on the Broads - but will be in early April - I sent off a cheque for the toll for the coming season. After reading lots of postings about Somerleyton bridge, I decided to contact Network Rail and ask them direct about the current state of operation of the bridge and any future planned closures or works. The reply I received was to look at the Broads Authority website, as all up to date information would be found there. The B.A. site said that the bridge was fully operational. Can anyone throw some light on the conflicting messages that I am getting. Thanks, Brian J.

    Annodes

Phew! Just checked and all underwater fittings are bronze. Seems as if I needn't worry too much then. Brian J.

    Annodes

No. GRP Freeman 23, brass and bronze underwater fittings. Old man Freeman knew a thing or two. Have arranged for an aluminium anode to be fitted just to be on the safe side. Brian J.

    Annodes

Hi, could anyone advise me on the advisability of having an annode fitted to my boat when cruising the Broads. I do not have a salty bottom! I have an annode fitted but have never changed it as I only cruised the fresh water Thames. The annode, which is fixed to the rudder, seems to be a bit corroded, but that is only to be expected I suppose as to my knowledge it has not been changed in the last six years. Brian J.
  15. Welcome to someone who has a lot further to travel than I do. Brian J.
  16. Welcome from another new(ish) member.
  17. Compared with previous posts, I think I must be fairly lucky - I only have a journey of 3hrs 20 mins from Guildford in Surrey. That is with the provoso that the M25, A 12 etc are reasonably clear. Brian J.
  18. There are no bad roads, only bad drivers. I agree with every word of Neils posting. Brian J.
  19. Welcome to another newbie. Brian J.
  20. Thanks Julz, I had already come to that conclusion. Will investigate further when my boat arrives in Norfolk. Brian J.
  21. Thanks for replies, have already looked at Exitengineering - they give no prices and are in Italy. Any ideas on mudweights? Brian J.
  22. Does anyone on the forum know where I can get a lightweight collapsible or folding gangplank? I saw one on a boat at Ranworth in October last year but did not get a chance to speak to the owner at that time. It looked as if it was made from carbon fibre - though I may be wrong on that score - which would make it very light, just what I want. Unfortunately if it was carbon that would possibly make it quite expensive as well! Also I will need a mudweight, ideas of cost and weight to hold a 23 footer would be appreciated. Brian J.
  23. I have Elements 7, but find Serif easier to use and more intuitive. Brian J.
  24. Try Serif. Cost me £40.00 and does about 90% of what photoshop does and in the same way. I have Serif Photoplus 2, but this is a couple of years old now and there may be a newer version out now. Brian J.
  25. Many thanks Dave, have to wait and see nearer the time. Brian J.
