Interesting article. Thanks for the link Sam. đź‘Ť
  2. I think it was the Aspire lounge that we used in Terminal 5 and wouldn’t do that one again either. Great that you enjoyed it so much that you’ve booked another cruise. Loving seeing your photos.
  3. Great to start reading your write up. First time on the M25? Wow! How have you avoided it for so long? Your description of your day at Heathrow is so reminiscent of our experience. We managed to get our cases checked in a little earlier than we expected. And then security was quite easy. I think we used the same lounge as you and were a little underwhelmed by it. We wouldn't use that particular one again. That does sound like a loooooooong journey. Makes me very glad that we made the decision to overnight at Singapore before travelling on to Sydney. You must have been so happy to get onboard the ship.

Report in the EDP about the Ferry Inn Horning. And I also saw one yesterday about the Nippy Chippy at PH having to close. https://www.edp24.co.uk/news/24141908.ferry-inn-horning-norfolk-broads-hit-flooding

    Flooding

I’ve seen photos on Facebook today of the flooding the NBD side of Wroxham bridge. Way worse than it was when I was down there a few days ago. But then we had almost 48 hours of rain over Wednesday and Thursday. It’s just not managing to clear before the next downpour arrives.

    Flooding

I haven’t been to Horning for a long time. River levels on the roads around Wroxham keep going down and then up again. I have seen more photos on Facebook of the waterfront at the New Inn being flooded again.
  7. And it rained all day today ...
  8. Not for long at the moment it would seem! Safe travels home ... and back again in May.
  9. The roast dinner was ÂŁ19.95 to ÂŁ22.95 depending which meat option you chose.
  10. Congratulations again Sam. Great to hear that you’ve already been able to get afloat and start getting used to her.
  11. As it happens we went to Hotel Wroxham today for Sunday lunch. We all had their roast dinner which was delicious. Plenty of meat - a choice of beef, turkey, lamb, or all three. The usual roast potatoes, carrots, parsnips, and Yorkshire pudding. Accompanied by a dish of fresh vegetables to share. Very good value although the desserts are a bit overpriced IMHO. Very friendly staff and great service. We’ve never yet been disappointed and keep going back.
  12. Welcome home. It’s definitely harder coming back to winter than switching into summer on arrival in the southern hemisphere. Took me a few days to feel remotely sorted out with photos and videos. We’ve been back four weeks now and I’ve only just finished my write up. Tomorrow I go back to work. We definitely benefited from splitting the journey with an overnight stay in the middle. If we ever make this kind of journey again we would do the same. Looking forward to reading your tale and hearing all about it. Including your stop in Sydney. I would be keen to know what you saw and what you thought of it.
  13. The rivers have a certain beauty whatever the weather. Staying warm and dry, watching the wildlife, pure relaxation … it’s what we enjoy about hiring out of the main season. Hope you have a lovely week.
  14. It is indeed pouring with rain again this morning. The road outside NBD's yard has been flooded again all week and will only be more so after this weekend. On a slightly different tangent perhaps, I drove over Herring Bridge a few days ago on my way from Lowestoft back to Great Yarmouth. It lands you in an industrial area of GY and might not seem of much advantage if you are passing through. But it does avoid Gapton Hall which is always jammed up in the summer months. It avoids going over Breydon Bridge which again causes queues when lifted. And it avoids having to go anywhere near the roundabout that takes you to the Vauxhall caravan site. I had wondered why they were putting a third crossing in at all, but can see the advantage it may bring to drivers depending on your journey's start and end.
  15. It was a lovely quiz and a fun evening. Thank you Bern. Great to have such a good turn out of the Friday Friends. Have a lovely weekend everyone.
  16. Is that The Maltsters?
  17. Oh that’s brilliant news all round. So pleased for you Sam, and for Ian’s family to have one thing ticked off albeit with all the emotions that it brings. I’ll be keeping a look out for Mermaid once you get onto the rivers. 🤗
  18. I wanted to wait until after the funeral to ask Alan whether I could post this video here. I happened to get some video of Ian and Marina leaving Oulton Broad on Sweet Kingfisher back in 2017. If you forward to 1:30 you should be in the right place.
  19. I suspect you’re right Howard. We’ve definitely hired from somewhere out of season and been asked not to go beyond Stokesby. I can’t remember whether it was Ferry Marina or Richardson’s. I don’t think they want hirers going down that far while the yacht station is closed.
  20. They did indeed. I checked back and can confirm they are offering 20% off February and March breaks on their Facebook page. But the last time I looked they hadn't put this on their website which is becoming very outdated for information of offers.
  21. Love going to Cromer, not too far and a nice walk when we're there. They have some decent shows on at the theatre on the pier but we've not been to any yet.
  22. It is a beautiful morning. Have a lovely day Mr and Mrs Nog.
  23. Did I win? 🏆 I never used to win the guess the pub competition. 🤭
  24. Fur and Feather it is then. 🤭
  25. My guess is the Fur and Feather. It’s not a bad day for the walk up from the moorings. Unless they’ve headed for the carvery at the King’s Arms at Womack Water. 🤔
