    My Day

A very well reasoned post JM. This can't be taken lightly and it's about doing one's best to be safe. But you're right about those struggling with life on their own, or stuck in small accommodation, not a patch of greenery in sight. Despite the grey skies I am determined to get out for even a short walk every day, especially weekends. And lockdown 2 also means stay home and bake a cake. :)
  2. At least you’ve got a reason for how you’ve been feeling. That must be a relief in a way. I know someone else who had shingles earlier in the year and the doctors didn’t recognise it immediately because everyone was looking out for Covid. Hope you’re soon on the mend.
  3. Morning Ian. Hope today is a better day for you.
  4. That is a lovely part of Lowestoft though. I see they have finally finished Ness Park on the other side. Shame we can't get down there at the moment having watched them taking so long to pull it together.
  5. Ian I hope it feels good to be getting some answers. Take good care

    Road Works 2020

Thanks for the update. We went through the lights in Wroxham yesterday and they weren’t causing any problems.
  7. Hope you’re soon feeling better and on the mend Ian. You’ve been through a rough time this year.
  8. Lovely photos. It’s a beautiful morning.
  9. The second and third photos were taken in Lowestoft last year.
  10. We like going to Ferry Marina and hire from Richardson’s as well. You will get recommendations for all yards depending who you talk to. I always advise people to have a good look at Richardson’s - all styles of boat to suit all budgets. Decide what you want and then look for similar on other websites for comparison.
  11. Beautiful photos Helen. Must have felt like a strange week with the way the weather went and the news worked out.
  12. Such a shame but probably the right thing to do. Looking forward to reading the rest of your write up. I think we all have to try to look with hope towards brighter times next year.
  13. Really this is about doing the right thing. The coverage of the US election yesterday was a welcome respite from the media circus that doesn’t help with how we all feel. Report the news but don’t make the news.

    My Day

Lovely sunrise Chris. I keep thinking I must get up and out with my camera at the golden hour time of day. Maybe at the weekend... or when sunrise creeps round to being just a little later!
  15. I saw the BA advice about holidays has changed slightly, wasn’t sure if you would have seen it. “If you were already on holiday, you should return to your home as soon as practical and comply with the ‘stay at home’ requirements in your holiday accommodation in the meantime.” Not sure whether that means you can keep cruising or not.
  16. Anything I have wanted to know I have Googled and found the answer. Seems to work fine for editing my clips, adding titles and transitions, adding music as it pulls in my iTunes library and then exporting a decent quality file. I found the export to YouTube didn’t seem to work so always save to the Movies folder on my Mac and check it plays ok.
  17. We’ve not done the stretch from Reedham towards Breydon having always turned down the New Cut.
  18. It is indeed a bright sunny day. Hoping to get out for a walk soon. By the way, where is Polkey’s Mill?
  19. I use iMovie to edit all of mine. Music copyright seems to have become more of an issue on YouTube. The page where you could search and check copyright status was being removed. YouTube’s reasoning included that a lot of people upload their videos as private to start with and then check whether any copyright issues are flagged. I’m not looking to monetise my channel and the tracks I use often come up as simply that all ad revenue will go to the copyright holder. As such I’ve carried on using music I own and keep mostly to artists that I’ve used before with no problems.
  20. I can vouch for there being such a heron ... commonly called Harry. We stayed in one of the Ferry Marina rental cottages back in 2008 which I think was before they moved their hire fleet down to the waterfront. Anyway ... here's the heron ... not entirely sure whether it was myself or my husband who took these photos, wouldn't want to take credit for his work but can't remember.
  21. How’s this for starters from my lunchtime walk today.
  22. I’ve done the same with my holiday tales from the last few years. Fortunate to still be working from home but I have a couple of things to post soon, maybe next weekend.
  23. I'm guessing that actually the stress of making sure that you can leave the boat clean, tidy and ready to go for whoever is next on board might only spoil the extra days anyway. Just concentrate on enjoying the next couple of days.
  24. Good to hear the recommendation for Sutton Staithe Hotel.
  25. So potentially you could finish your week afloat. “Those currently on a domestic holiday, will be allowed to finish their holidays, but are still subject to the requirements in England not to go out without a reasonable excuse. We are seeking clarification from DEFRA if the same applies to people currently staying on private boats.”
