  1. Yes, River Cruiser Class open at EACC this weekend
  2. This happened to me and it was rather frightening. Only managed to stop engine when a friend covered air intake. In retrospect not the safest thing to do. After spending quite a bit on trying to get engine working again gave up and invested in a new Nanni.
  3. Just a heads up that this weekend is the Breydon Regatta, with racing taking place on Breydon on Saturday and a passage race from Breydon to Reedham and back on Sunday.
  4. I think the are you are describing is what is known as Slot's Hole next to Malthouse lane (or hill) which is the track that goes up from the Castle Moorings The following is an extract from the Wroxham history website https://wroxhamhistory.wordpress.com/ Which is a great site if you are interested in the history of Wroxham. Since the 1950s photograph of the Caen Meadow appeared on the cover of the August 2016 edition of The Bridge magazine there has been some dispute about Nick Walmsley’s reference to “Slot’s Hole”, the more common name for Malthouse Hill – with local old-timers claiming it to be Sotts Hole or even Shotts Hole. Checking the 1871 census returns for Wroxham [transcribed by Rose French for the St Faiths District in August 2000] I found it listed against William Ives, 23, malster, and others who lived or worked there, as Sotts Hole
  5. Unfortunately our race finished prematurely when tree jumped out and hit us! We were going fairly well up to that point having done both legs and making it slowly through Potter where the tide was ebbing very strongly
  6. The only thing I would add regarding filling tank is, I have learned to only fill to top of stainless steal tank not to top of filler pipe otherwise I find that as the weather warms up diesel comes out of my fuel tank breather and makes a mess of my painted deck and then runs down the hull.
  7. small shed at the end of the site was being used by the Floating Bike company
  8. I have the engine serviced and winterised including new primary and secondary fuel filters and I top the fuel tank up,
  9. Fairly certain that when I moored there a while ago, when the Yacht station was open I had to pay
  10. I know not on the list but just a recommendation for Hewitt & Grant in Coltishall. A little walk from the moorings or a bit closer if you can get up to the lock.
  11. I can recommend the icey-tek range again not the cheapest but their boxes and blocks work really well https://www.coolboxesuk.com/collections/icey-tek-cube-boxes
  12. Might be a bit long but looks really nice https://classicboats.apolloduck.co.uk/boat/martham-boats-silver-jubilee-for-sale/576195
  13. Yes worth joining even if just to get a Green Book posted to you which probably covers most of the cost of membership.
  14. As has been previously said probably better to follow Government guidelines. So March 29th works better for me as I can take a few days off over Easter to get boat ready to go in.
  15. So when can I go and work on my boat? I suppose the answer is not until after 12th April unless it is in the village, town or part of the city where I live. Which unfortunately it isn't (14 miles away)
  16. Thank you for all the replies. The artist was born in 1907 so possible it is even earlier than I thought and certainly looking at the lack of trees and foliage its possible. The mill in question would have probably also deteriorated quite a bit. I have been looking on Google Earth and both suggestions made would probably work but without seeing the topography of the land is difficult to say.I must admit before posting this I was leaning towards a generic Broadland scene. My father had an art supplies shop in Norwich from the 1950-1980's and I always understood he had obtained it from the artist as the result of some barter arrangement.
  17. I have a watercolour picture by Leslie L H Moore that I inherited from my father and I have been trying to identify the location. Does anybody have any ideas? The image is not great due to glass reflection but there is a church tower in the lower right back ground and I think it was probably painted in the 1950/60's many thanks Kevin
  18. I am in group 6 and had a text to book for Wednesday morning at Hoveton Village Hall. So probably not as long as you thought to wait.
  19. and a lot of speeding drivers are using Church lane to bypass them
  20. She has unfortunately been out of the water for the last couple of years and I believe is in need of some remedial work doing. Prior to this she was still racing regularly.
  21. We spent the night on Bargate last week and we draw 4 feet so you should not have a problem with depth. As has been said there is quite a bit of weed so we did need to do a bit of weed clearance after we had left by running prop in forward and reverse as has also been mentioned. We did not have to get our bent stick out which is our fall back for clearing the prop.
  22. I am an RCC committee member and nothing has come before us regarding this- yet!
  23. I am sure I read that the grazing is rented by one of the horse rescue charities.
  24. Just a couple of things to add regarding Wroxham Regatta. Some times they go for a down broad start from a floating platform just inside the up river entrance to the broad. The cruisers are racing around midday and 6pm as there will probably be over 30 boats out it does get a bit congested so probably best to avoid around these times unless you want to see the action in which case it is best to drop a mud weight at either end of the broad well away from any buoys with flags on them.
