  1. i think it may well morph into something along those lines, initial menu will be a bit limited but need to bed in and then expand it. plan is to include a pizza oven to help deal with volume and then a focus on seafood long term
  2. i am afraid that would be probably too optimistic but hoping to have a beer festival around the whitsun week to mirror what we do at the white horse so that may sort you out
  3. aim is first may bank holiday but depends on when new windows can be installed and if the toilets are up and running by then...may be a bit rough around the edges but we will try
  4. in early talks with broads authority regarding moorings so we will see what happens, getting them able to be used asap is the biggest step as currenty unsafe in parts
  5. yes we will bob, we can upgrade capacity here at white horse a bit and long term expand it to thurne but short term looking to add cider production to the lion for next year
  6. Hoping for May Day bank holiday opening if we complete by end of month but could go massively over depending on how much of planned works can be done
  7. No offer but keen interest and looking at financing options
  8. don't always needs to win the lottery boys
  9. happy to elaborate as a party that was attempting to purchase pub.... pub was for sale from enterprise inns and we had a viewing for it a month or so ago...kitchen very well kept but obvious issues were roof and outbuildings in need of serious attention. toilets and showers needed ripping out but overall not too bad. land that comes with pub to the side is on a long term lease to the parish council so no chance of that being changed for 23 years. the pub has just been withdrawn from sale with indications it wont return to the market for around 18 months. The lease on the pub is not signed in sids name but his daughter and partner. the lease is subject to the pub being kept in a fit and proper state which they have lapsed on so they can either surrender it or face a huge bill from enterprise for the breach. I would assume they have decided to go down that route hence the pub being pulled from sale while it is disputed. offers over the asking price were made (not from us). the pub would not get change of use as it is the only pub left in the area. hope that sheds some light on the matter.
  10. Just for clarification the broadshaven is no longer a punch pub. It is owned by new river retail group. They bought it as part of a package of pubs from punch but will have no interest in renovating.
  11. It's up on leasehold but it is available freehold for the right price. I never understand why anyone would take a place on with a lease and spend loads of money on it, seems mad
  12. A 16 week season is probably more realistic for that place. Depends how bad the building is as the main issue plus it doesn't really have any internal layout of note so not the easiest to work with
  13. It is a site I am looking at
  14. Maurice further research gives the options of an allergy to either, hops (not likely if dark beers are worse for you as they are generally battered less), certain yeast strains (darker beers would normally use a classic english yeast so possible) or most likely would be the use of roasted barley which isn't present in lighter pale ales but used in varying quantities in bitters and dark beers. Hope that helps rick
  15. Howard, that was a very kind post and great pic. That was just how the pub was the first time I visited it when me and my now wife were dating. mauricemynah, never heard of such a reaction to beer, yeast on the whole is good for you so I am intrigued what may cause it. If it helps I know generally keg ales (not john smiths smooth etc), like our guest keg beers normally have virtually no yeast left in them as they are force carbonated instead of leaving yeast in. Next time your in we can get you testing them. rick
  16. Yep it has been up for sale as a leasehold since Christmas time as far as I can remember, believe it still is.
  17. There is probably no chance of that place being sold as a freehold due to the aforementioned reasons. Only will appreciate in value over time. Same reason why the kings head next to it is only selling the lease and not freehold
  18. As a fellow publican I can't really comment on other pubs generally regardless of my personal opinion as it isn't fair
  19. Lots of nice welcomes when a beer is on offer
  20. Would love to buy it if it came available if that counts?
  21. Thanks for the support, these two years since we reopened have flown by, say hi when your next in and I will get you a pint
  22. Hi all, thought I best join and respond to comments to clear up the foodie points, all of our dishes are made from scratch on site and we limit the amount of orders we take to ensure everything leaves in a prompt manner (10people every 20mins generally) it pains me to turn away custom, I am sure my accountant hates me for it but we do it to maintain standards. We have seats in the pub for 130 people but our max amount of covers we can do in a service is roughly 100 so it is never a case of empty tables mean we have space to eat. brundallnavy I wish you had mentioned your concerns when you were in as I would have happily changed your meals, if you don't say anything I can't help you. we are not a pub that will be for everyone but we always try to please always available to answer questions rick
  23. Longtime viewer of the forum and about time I joined. landlord/owner here at the white horse neatishead, any questions/issues etc then just drop me a message rick
