  1. Press Release here: https://www.broads.co.uk/back-to-the-future/ Thoughts?
  2. I could also solve that too if required! In all seriousness, I'm happy to do another one if it's required, I can do them in quantities 25 and up if that helps. For the record, I do the calendars at cost price, I don't charge anything for my design time either, so I stand to make nothing from them, I just offer my services.
  3. Nah, I could turn it round pretty swift! I have done for the last couple of years!
  4. Just discussing our forthcoming trip to the Broads with the in-laws and it turns out they know some folk who ran a boat out of Gt. Yarmouth, names were apparently John Knight and Joan Hanford and the name the golden galleon has been mentioned. Do any of you lovely lot know anything about any of this?
  5. That's great, I will let you know what more I find out tonight!
  6. I have found a little more, in that it was rented out from the yard at Wayford Bridge, as opposed to Wroxham, as my friend thought it was, so I guess thy may have sailed up to Wroxham? Should be finding out more tonight as I think he's bringing the pictures out.
  7. Hi all, Was sampling the offerings in the local tap house and had a conversation with a friend tonight who was going through some old family photos and happened across some pictures of his parents on the Broads in Wroxham on a hire boat (rag and stick) called ‘Belvedere’ circa mid ‘30’s. He is going to let me scan in the pictures but I was wondering if anyone here had any knowledge of such a boat, or which yard she hired from? many thanks in advance, JamesV
  8. Doesn't look very encouraging, what a shame, sounded like a great idea. Also see: https://www.eveningnews24.co.uk/news/the-vagabond-italian-restaurant-in-norwich-closed-1-5843527
  9. Happy Christmas NBN’ers from the calendar elf and his clan
  10. Brinks Omega is a great boat for a couple, can be a bit tall at times, but plenty of room, had it the last two years, upgraded to Serenade next year!
  11. He’ll photocopy the one he’s bought, keep the copy for ‘imself!
  12. Glad it’s been well received, I have to say a personal thank you to everyone who submitted photos, and the forum team behind the scenes who organised it all. cheers, J
  13. So the calendars have been printed, now just waiting to be trimmed and bound, not long now folks...
  14. He's already got the car, it's not what perhaps most people would buy as a first car, but then when is Robin ever 'most people' ?
  15. Cal, I still need your photo please! Vaughan & Pete Belham, you both have emails from me.
  16. Brinks Omega, which from memory is 8'6"
  17. There will be a blank outside back page on the calendar, so any details could be added there, however if the idea is deemed worthy by the powers, I’ll happily add more details.
  18. I use the same for the mudweight, saves me trying to use the excuse of “it was dirty and I was trying to clean it...”
  19. Well, it’s booked, now the long wait until we get up there, today will be the start of the planning which will no doubt change several times. Still, we have a few days in the Isle of Wight and a week at my dads place in Italy, and take the boat out on the lake there between now and the Broads, so not all bad!
  20. Very highly rate the Lion, food is great, service is great and Rachel is an absolute sweetheart.
  21. On serenade you don't need to do anything to move the canopies other than press a button
  22. I've just spoken with Barnes, and apparently all the Serenades have dual helm seats, the photo's of single seats were in the early build phases, somewhat conflicting information, but I'd trust they know what is on their boats.
  23. It think it’s probably all relative, compared to a bathtub or a fly bridge cruiser then yes visibility will be compromised, but when compared to a sedan cruiser, other than rearward visibility, it really shouldn’t be that different. Given you only really use rearward visibility for the occasional check what’s behind you, or stern on mooring, which you do at very slow speed, I’m not too fussed. We chose Serenade for the same reasons you chose Benmore, I’ve tried to get under Ludham bridge for the last 3 years in a boat that should easily go under at low tide, but been thwarted by high river levels where the bridge was showing 8’2” even at low water. Next year we will be taking full advantage and spending 3 nights on the Ant
  24. We definitely want one with the twin seat, it’s one of our reasons for choosing the boat
  25. 2 guests, 1 night on board, so shouldn't really be an issue.
