I too hate a plate to be piled high , hence I do not enjoy a carvery , I would far rather put a smaller amount on my plate and go back if I wanted more, sadly carveries do not permit this .

Whilst this thread has contained some interesting information it has sadly evolved into something we try and avoid on the NBN and has turned confrontational , there are always differing opinions on many subjects and healthy discussion is encouraged however this does not mean that confrontational posts will be permitted , please keep it civil to avoid locking or potentially removing this thread

Can I echo our esteemed Chairman’s views and ask members to keep this thread solely as it was intended and not as an us and them platform . Kate and I wish Richard a full and speedy recovery and hope his forum is back up and running soon .

Arrived at Pipedreams , ice in the Richardson basin almost totally gone , water levels a good 4” lower than a fortnight ago , we intend to have a short cruise tomorrow (river ice dependant) , possible sample a few ales this evening at Catfield

Maintaining or lack of of the river system certainly hasn’t helped as far as river levels are concerned but this years storm following storm and seemingly never ending rainfall being due to a quirk in the weather or due to global warming the levels have been at a previously unrecorded high ; Ludham bridge has been showing a clearance of around 7ft2” for quite a while now. LBBY has been flooded yet again , and we have all read about the flooding in Potter and Horning and in many cases witnessed it ourselves also. The BA still lists the height of Ludham bridge as being an average of 8ft6” a level very rarely seen nowadays it’s about time the BA guide on bridge clearances is updated Potter is still listed at 6ft6” !!

Tolls (that’s Not A Swear Word!) Amongst Other Things.

I would love to be privy to the “ behind the closed door “ reaction of the BA leadership to this letter , and await eagerly any response from them that is placed in the public realm . Their behaviour in this matter must certainly worry their most ardent of supporters and seriously damage the standing of their leadership in the public eye. I would respectfully request @tom from the BA that when a press release or similar is posted from the BA to this letter (as it surely must be) that he post it here also . -
When I ran a very very busy city centre local with literally hundreds of locals I got in the habit of calling everyone uncle and auntie , they liked it and it meant I didn’t have to remember hundreds of names (I did however remember what they drank)

Thank you Kate , think we will remain at Neatishead this pm , very peaceful here we are the only boat

Arrived yesterday afternoon , after unloading etc drove to The Kings Arms at Ludham for dinner , Crown Catfield close until 15th for their annual holiday , Katie had steak , I had the cheese and bacon burger , Bramble chicken and rice a pint of Guinness and a Diet Coke total cost just under £50 which I found reasonable . After dinner we ventured into The Grebe (cash only) for a most sociable evening . We are now moored up on Neatishead staithe as Ludham bridge would mean lowering screens/roof which is ok today as it’s dry and not raining but don’t want to risk having to do similar on our return if the weather changes , bliss to be afloat again .

Lovely spot you’ve moored in , must try it sometime myself

We use a fan heater when first onboard (when not using the diesel heating) to relieve the chill at night then plug the oil heater in for overnight ; if your feet are feeling the chill then a nice thick pair of woolly socks is the best solution

Katie and my thoughts are with you all and with Ian
