As Easter is fast approaching we will hopefully see some activity soon.

Any updates much appreciated as always :91_thumbsup: :default_beerchug:

Latest update today. Steve is aiming to get the bar open for Saturday the 30th for drinks.
Unfortunately the kitchen is taking longer than anticipated to achieve a standard he would be happy with. However the Pizza Den should be open.

Yes, I watch the Bath one too. Beats anything on the telly any day of the week.

I hope when my time is up I don't come back as a pigeon :default_biggrin: x

Good morning Gracie. Just been looking at the Bath Peregrines nest box and it has its first egg this morning. Some activity in the Norwich nesting box but no eggs yet. Can you let Charlie know. He might like to follow it.

I live about a mile away and it’s our only pub, hopefully the new owners will do good food, that’s the only thing that keeps places going. Need to take tips from recruiting sergeant as that place is always packed.

It should be open for Easter. It is being taken over by Steve Gray who also runs the Granary Restaurant, which is accross from the Maltsters and  gets very good reviews.

  5. Welcome to the forum. Hopefully, Vaughan, a fellow member of this forum will read your post. He will be able to tell you everything you want to know about the history of the island and in particular Hearts Yard.

The Maltsters should be reopening the 27th March. (Not much more information at the moment)

The brewery are currently carrying out a lot of work inside the building and it is hoped to be open for Easter. I believe, based on a comment he made on another site, that Steve Gray who has the Granery, on the Staithe is taking it on.

  7. I see that they will be operating 14 dayboats at Acle and I think I read 6 from Stalham. Not mentioned anywhere, but are these boats being transferred from their Wroxham location? If so, it would free up that valuable site, which originally belonged to Fineway Cruisers, for sale.

Put an Alexa on the list. Medication reminders, turning lights and the telly on and off etc etc. Plus the ability to 'drop in' and have a conversation without someone needing to find a phone or get up

Alexa ‘drop in’ is excellent. Barbara has a life long friend who has Alzheimer’s and she phones her every night. Recently her friend has had problems finding / answering the phone and the fact that she has Alexa has made it so much easier for a chat using ‘drop in’ at any time without her friend having to find and pick up and answer the phone.

I think The Ship was a "training" ground for the younger members of the family - who soon outgrew it and moved elsewhere. I think it was a good way to get started in the business but they were privileged to have the group backing them. I don't think they ever pretended it was meant to be part of the Group other than for that specific purpose.  Long since lost track of them - making a fortune if they learnt correctly! But it was a very good restaurant for perhaps a couple of years!

Not a great lover of their general offering but must try The Lodge at Salhouse before that catches the habits of its sister offerings!!!!

We had Lunch / Dinner at Salhouse Lodge today at 16.30. There were already 12 people in the restaurant. This is the fifth time we have eaten there since it was taken over. As per the previous visits the food and the service was first class. The staff were busy setting up the restaurant for a very busy evening.

You've gotta be kidding me really?  I thought it was sorta getting back to normal?

I'm due to be afloat from this evening, need to get under Ludham bridge tomorrow ideally without taking the top down at 7ft7"  Mooring up without having to wear wellies would be good too.  Was hoping to get under Wroxham bridge too (Astern!)

I have only seen the 6ft marker on Wroxham bridge once this week. Currently showing 5ft 9ins.

I had lunch there about a month ago and it was very busy nearly everyone was eating. I am up next week for 4 days and will probably go there on one of those days for lunch. I hope it doesn’t close. I also read yesterday that the New Inn at Rockland closed on 31st of October.

I remember the Alpha Craft hirefleet versions of these, not sure if they had one or two. One was called "Starfire" as I recall and had a full size 3 seater household sofa in the saloon. It's still on the Broads I think. I would imagine the airdraft is quite sensible.

That’s correct. Alpha Craft had 2 in their hire fleet. Starfire and Skyhawk, both of which I hired. They were 4 / 5 berth and were extremely spacious and comfortable. Skyhawk was up for sale under private ownership a couple of years ago and at that time was moored on the owner’s property in Horning. It belonged to a lady.
