  9. Thanks Gracie ...... It's this time of year I hate , cost's a small bloody fortune on Christmas prezzies ..... Money that could be invested in new windows for " My-Newt "
  10. Could do with one of these for " My-Newt " ...... Our moorings are close to Cantley sugar factory and we get inundated with wasps and hornets

  13. When my kids were young , we always associated the manure and slurry smells , being city folk , with holidays ....... I'd wind the car window down, take a deep breath , and tell the kids it was good for your chest
  14. Whereabouts on Breydon was this pic taken , as I can't think of anywhere you would be close enough to the bankside to get such a good shot .....
  15. This topic looks promising for me ..... A couple of windows and all the rubbers could do with replacing on " My-Newt " ..... Trevor Preece , expect a visit from me for a quote in the near future
  16. Don't even joke Grendel ..... She's dragging me round the shops tomorrow to buy her a pair I'm alright , I've got my chest waders

  20. Just home from an eventful weekend down at Langley on " My-Newt " ... Arrived early Friday morning to be greeted by a high tide and flooded moorings , but we soldiered on and went in , shin deep into icy cold water , to get aboard . Got the boat into running order , and off climbed the wife , back into said icy water , to untie ..... Ropes were frozen solid , so after standing in shin deep water AGAIN , she then spent 10 minutes trying to free the ropes ..... Once untied I headed into the main river to turn round so I could head up the dyke to the car park , only to lose forward power from my outboard . I had reverse , so turned the wheel hard to port and went round in circles , while I had a look to see if I could spot the problem . No joy so I had to reverse back downstream and into the dyke to my mooring again , wife got soaked for a second time . Finally sorted it after a bit of fettling and ventured back into the river , only to lose steering . Back to the inspection hatch and more fettling while drifting along with the tide . Sorted that , and headed back to car park to load up , only to remember I'd forgotten to stop at the petrol station for fuel for the outboard and Loddon Staithe for water . So back in the car to Loddon , while wife sorts out stowing usual sundry items associated with boating . Friday evening was then spent chilling with a glass or two of Port , bliss . We were then joined on Saturday morning by our friends Gary and Pam on their boat Fly Eagle , and had a lovely run up to Surlingham Ferry for dinner , an overnight stop and breakfast Sunday morning . Woke up to a beautiful Broads morning , and after said brekky , set off back downriver in brilliant sunshine and very little wind . Perfect boating conditions .... A few beers before settling down for the night, only to be woken by rain hammering on the roof , but by the time we'd had a brew the rain had stopped and we were able to load the car and put My -Newt back on her moorings and head off on our 5 hour drive home ....... Thank you Norfolk for another great weekend , see you next month :-)
