  1. Forecasts get increasingly unreliable the further ahead you look, keeping an eye on the daily outlook once you're there is probably best 👍

Not to worry, it's just nice to know she's out there and looked after 👍

Indeed I owned Sir Losis of the River as she was previously known, I understand the pun was particularly apt as the owner at that time was a pub landlord 😁 She was Dakota when we had her and a lovely wooden topside she had. Great to learn she is out and about as I haven't seen her for 2 years! Do you have a photo by any chance Turnoar?
  4. Winterton church from the dunes this evening.
  5. You are definitely not being unreasonable. While we can all appreciate that 'things' can happen it is up to parents (& dog owners etc.) to be and act responsibly. It is simply being civilised and part of society!

Fair enough, it is certainly an issue of the day 👍

Should this be split from the My Day thread mods? It doesn't seem to fit!

The other side wasn't green 😛, s'board gets the sun which keeps the algae off 😁 I've just realised we can only see the starboard side of Malc's boat, he could could be hiding a whole market garden of greenery on his port side 😂

You have an "after" photo MM? 😁😂😁
  14. Not forgetting 'special projects' I don't know the technical accounting term here but a few years ago there was a need for a floating pontoon mooring somewhere near Oulton (sorry for vague details, this is just an example) An additional sum was added to the tolls for this specific project, but was included every subsequent year and still is. I queried this with Mr Packman at the time and he confirmed their accounting practice when considering tolls was to use the previous year as a starting point, including such projects. This of course means that every time there is such a so called "one of" project it is paid for again and again, every subsequent year!
  15. What wonderful memories you have to look back on Colin, welcome to the forum 👍 With such a fine history I'm sure that Nancy will find her way to someone who will appreciate her and keep up her fine tradition.
  16. Me walking dog, meets another dog walker... ADW: Hi, still pretty cold out eh? Me: Sure is, how's your dog's sore paw? ADW: This conversation is about the weather, can you please stick to the subject! 🙄😁👍

I believe that it is customary for wine to be served at a Reception..... 😁
  18. From all the posts in this thread it seems as though today there is everything from Gastro Pubs to traditional Ale Houses ans all points in-between. Something to please everyone... maybe things aren't so bad after all 🍺
  19. I imagine you can virtually trace the history of the UK through church architecture!
  20. If it hasn't got sawdust on the floor and I can't order 3 fingers of Redeye in a dirty glass then what's the point 😂 (But actually, yes there is clearly demand for good basic pubs 👍)
  21. It must be wonderful to play the organ, a magnificent instrument. Some years ago the one at the Royal Albert Hall was renovated and we had tickets to it's inaugural concert. Outstanding event, a really unforgettable experience 👍
  22. The folks running The Lion, Somerton have made heroic efforts. They are lovely people who took it over just before covid, they delivered takeaways during the lockdowns to keep afloat and I've rarely seen a couple work so hard and so well together... it really is a great shame to see them call it a day.

    Doesn't it float? 😁
  24. A little off Broads but worth the trip is the church at Winterton, it claims the second highest tower in Norfolk. It is only open Saturday afternoons in the summer unfortunately but the view is great. When I find out this year's opening times I can post them here if there's interest.
