Can be very frustrating when hiring, the problems are a bit more manageable with your own boat (at least for a while) as 'there are steps you can take'... figuratively and literally. My mum is fond of saying "old age doesn't come alone" although she can't seem to get her head around the fact that both her children are pensioners!

I found that really moving to watch, what an apt and poignant farewell to our friend and NBN Family member.

The way Ian lived his life was clearly reflected in the respect of so many. A fitting send off for a genuine nice guy who's legacy includes making a real difference to others. RIP Ian

Hopefully no one will ever need it but there is now a Defibrillator Cabinet, it is on the outside wall of the Temple on the side nearest the road.

I believe Humber Coastguard task resources whenever they receive a 999 call, given that the volunteers at Hemsby ILB are regularly tasked clearly they are an important and much appreciated emergency service. If they need help relocating I have no doubt that the local community will do all they can. Just as our recently lost friend Ian did 👍

Ian was an inspiration in the way he dealt with all that life threw at him and despite those challenges was still actively helping others. He will be much missed. Sincere condolances to his family.

Although nothing is permanent it is possible to make long lasting differences and protection.... The real problem is money, the bigger the project the greater the cost, all remedial measures are costed against financial benefit to assets. People are not considered assets. This is essentially why hold the line was changed to managed retreat. The first responsibility of government (all of them, whatever their beliefs, everywhere) is the safety and welfare of it's citizens. Governments don't have money, it is taxpayers money is a true mitigation but good government can prioritise beyond political expediency, if they have the will. Please don't consider this as a political post, the above applies to all parties and all countries.

Managed retreat is no management at all. When a home or any other building, is close to falling into the sea the owner must pay demolition and clearance costs themselves (and are forced to do so) and then have to find themselves new homes (premises) . No wonder that this is the policy adopted, no one helps at all!

I hesitate to mention this, the charge is in place and it is was it is. By all means as an individual stand up for your principles and fight it if that is your wish and more power to you for taking a stand 👍 For many of us though it is a mooring rarely used and in fact rarely available, life's too short and for the sake of a rare visit I will just pay it. After all if direct action actually prevailed it would simply be reflected in even higher tolls, including for those with little interest in stopping there. Just a personal observation and genuine good luck wishes for those who feel it is a fight worth engaging.
