  1. I consider myself something of an expert on jobs I wish I hadn't started 😁
  2. It's the only bit I haven't replaced, seems like a good idea... hopefully 😁 Ah, not the large waste carrying ones, the much thinner one that allows pressure to equalise in the tank itself... I was thinking about 1/2" possibly?
  3. Does anyone happen to know the size of the hose that attaches to the air vent of the holding tank?
  4. Any product particularly recommended for use with an electric polisher/buffer? Original gel coat and just a clean and shine, I don't want to risk anything dramatic!
  5. It seems a bit like allowing jogging on a motorway to me! I don't want to stop anyone enjoying the rivers in any way they please but I also don't want a tragic accident on my conscience for the rest of my life! Let's share the water but have some designated places for safety's sake!

I imagine that given board members ages and experience that a number of us have been in involved in accidents of all kinds over the years. It seems that that the ones suffered before social media were our bad luck and the ones since were because we were idiots lol It is never pointless to try to mitigate against accidents!
  7. You're a lot younger than me! Good choice though 👍
  8. Blackberry Way? Those of us a certain age remember The Move I'm sure 😁 🎵🎶🎶
  9. Hope it's all perfect now and you can enjoy her 👍

It seems that she is no longer registered I'm afraid but she may have moved to a different water way. http://www.broads.org.uk/wiki2018/index.php?title=Boat_Details&BoatId=5700&BoatHistory=9176

    Edit: Changed my mind 😁
  12. How to win friends and influence people 😂😂😂 There was a pretty big clue in the thread title! Not your thing? Fine, then don't read it... simples 🙂
  13. Can't argue with that... although I guess there's no reason the minority shouldn't be helped with an inexpensive system that would save boat damage, injuries, boat jams, frustrations and the loss of repeat customers and all no more intrusive than the sign saying lower your windscreen and sound your horn. Especially as river levels rise. Having said all that, let's face it... it's never going to happen so not worth disagreeing about 🍺 🍺
  14. I guess some will and some won't just as in your other examples. It's still worth helping the majority who want to get it right enjoy their holiday without mishap.
  15. I wondered how expensive it would be, in that case I wonder why BA don't do it. It wouldn't even need to be every bridge, just the usual suspects!
  16. I couldn't help but remember the games of chess with my Dad, neither of us were particularly good and in that we were well matched. However this weekly ritual used to be so much more than just a game of chess 🙂 RIP Dad x
  17. I know that money is a rude word, but wouldn't it be a good idea to install 'go back' sensors like they do for oversize trucks on road bridges?
  18. I have always tried to maintain the pretence that the TV doesn't work... Sadly I was overruled on Eurovision weekend and the Admiral found it worked very well... 🙄🙁
  19. Sounds like the sort of arrangement that suits me and my better half very well too 👍
  20. According to various sources, it started in Spokane, USA by a woman who's father raised 5 kids after her mother died in childbirth circa 1910 and quickly caught on there and here soon after. However it is also pointed out that... Father's Day is a holiday of honouring fatherhood and paternal bonds, as well as the influence of fathers in society. In Catholic countries of Europe, it has been celebrated on March 19 as Saint Joseph's Day since the Middle Ages. Other theories are almost certainly available 🙂

The heat has made us all a bit grumpy and cynical lol Not everyone who has an accident is an idiot. We all get things wrong sometimes, even when we know better, not to mention things like inexperience and of course occasionally mechanical failure. Bearing in mind that of course there will always be the odd one that won't be told, it's still not a bad idea to explore ways to make accidents less likely for everyone else. (This has been today's Zen post from a finally cool boater in his garden with a daft dog and morning cuppa... you're welcome 😁)
