Totally agree, lost my dad to prostate cancer sadly.
  2. That's a real surprise! Well, to me at least 🙂 Possibly the upcoming bank holiday is unusual for the amount of events most people will have near home for the Jubilee?
  3. I fear it's just supply and demand Andrew. Any business charges what it can get for it's products and services, if people stop paying then the price will come down. With premium spots it won't be any time soon.

Sounds like a very good idea! My own birthday has always been somewhat eclipsed by Christmas anyway so an official date would be a good start 👍 On the PSA tests it seems that different health authorities apply different criteria. I requested one at my last review (family history) but was told they won't use them diagnostically only to monitor known conditions. It's a bit of a concern because catching these things early is always best!

Good news about Tony 👍 and I guess finishing treatment on your birthday is slightly better than starting it on your birthday! When you're ready you should have an official birthday, like the Queen 🥂
  6. You guys certainly know your stuff! A very interesting discussion, thank you. From a strictly lay person point of view I've learned a lot and my main practical take is of course to proceed with caution and do nothing to disturb the gas connection.
  7. So! Re-reading all of the above carefully. I would be safe to carefully replace the thermocouple as long as I only plugged the spade in at the nob end and inserted the probe and tightened the nut at the hot end as nothing I touched would be to do with the gas and pipes themselves? (The utter confusion the above may cause the filter was unintentional)
  8. Thank you Vaughan, your detailed answer has made me realise that I hadn't really understood what I was looking at! The thermocouple connects behind the kn ob with an electric style spade connection, the probe end is exactly as you describe. Currently the **** has to be held in a very long time before the grill stays slight on it's own, I have cleaned the probe and checked it's position. I had thought that the thin copper was just a protected wire/electric connection. Lesson learned though, I shall have a yard look at it for peace of mind I removed the spade connector and left it off a few days ago, as I understand it this is safe as no gas line is opened by doing this. Thanks again 👍
  9. Have received a replacement thermocouple I ordered and it arrived with warnings about only being fitted by professional accredited engineers etc. It basically screws in at the business end with an electrical spade connection at the other. So long as I check that it does indeed stop gas flowing as designed and allows it when hot/alight surely I don't really need to get someone to fit it?
  10. That's hard on friends and family sadly.
  11. Excellent news Chris, our Naval traditional is something to be proud of and celebrated 👍
  12. I've been thinking about getting one of these but never being one for quite grasping the technicalities of watts, amps, volts etc. I've hesitated in case I waste money on something that doesn't do what I need. From the bit I've qouted does this mean I could boil a kettle, use a 2 slice toaster and run a low power microwave oven for a few minutes (not as the same time) Of so, would the device top up enough from solar to do this 2 or 3 times a day. My boat has not got an inverter, so this could be a good alternative as we don't need heating and we don't have an immersion heater in the calorifier. Do you have a link to the setup you bought please Peter?
  13. 2 Anchor step fenders, dirty but otherwise good condition. £20 each or if you'd like the pair £35 for both

Just north of the Observatory Chris is Anderby Creek, we spent a few days there about 3 or 4 years ago and after visiting spots all over Lincs decided we had accidentally chosen the spot we liked best. The walk down the beach to the observatory was just right for building an appetite for a snack there although fine dining it was not lol We also decided that Norfolk and Suffolk were much more to our liking 🙂

It never rains but it pours kind of day! Best wishes for Boris' surgery and less stressful days ahead for you!
  16. Yes she does, well in variations of that pose anyway. She is a character you're right but also a bit of a 'princess' if you know what I mean 😁
  17. You are not wrong 😂 although, of course, if I make the mistake of looking comfortable then she'll join me wherever I am.... 🙄😁
  18. We did indeed, thank you, it was a really good break. Can't wait for next time! 🙂
  19. Days afloat: 6 Pubs visited: 6 (@Smoggy 👍🍺) Times too much to eat & drink: 6 Engine hours: 25 Geographical regions of the Broads visited: 2 (both 🙂) Warm & sunny days: 6 Dog vomit on berth: 0 Dog vomit in pub: 1 (We all died of shame🙄) Hit & Run third parties: 1 (Could have been worse) Suicidal dayboat helm: 1 Constipated dog: 1 (Don't ask) Danni's Diner Reviews:- Falgate: 🍗🍗🍗🍗🍗 First time here, warm welcome and friendly. I suspect Dad of sharing more chip than ham but that is hardly the fault of the establishment! Will definitely visit again. The Nelson, Reedham: 🍗🍗🍗🍗🍗 Been here before and more than happy to return anytime. A pub dog is always a good indicator of a warm welcome. Dad had a full rack of ribs which he shared generously (we both overdid it a bit which of course is "a good thing" The White Horse, Chedgrave: 🍗🍗🍗🍗🍗 What can I bark that hasn't already been barked? Lovely in every way and I'm pretty sure no one noticed when I threw up. Coldham Hall 🍗🍗🍗🍗🍗 This was the favourite of the week for me, the staff loved me more than mum & dad do and I wanted to stay with them forever The Ferry Inn, Stokesby 🍗🍗🍗🍗🍗 An old favourite, very friendly and welcoming, good food and what a relief after being stuck on the b£@&#y boat for 6 hours that food was served at 4pm. We stayed the night 😁 The Kings Head, Ludham 🍗🍗🍗🍗🍗 Both staff and other customers worshipped me as one would expect. Good food and although one doesn't carry money (obviously) my staff remarked on the good value. Some general points a Greyhound really should point out about one's dining out - 1. I never get to choose the venue 🙄 2. Mum and dad both tend to drink fizzy beer of foreign origin so I can't begin to review it 🙁🤮 3. Scraps from mum's plate are usually as small as contractual obligation allow and fall into the category of "You can have this.. if you must" I am currently exploring the possibility of a claim under the "Minimum Scraps Act (2007) as amended (2018) Subsection IV para 13" Which, as you know, specifies that scraps should be of sufficient quantity to taste without actually chewing. Anyway, the ball's in her court... although I will of course fetch it all day long. Danni Dog
  20. It certainly does happen, of course if you're not on your boat at the time you have no chance anyway... (Should polish out)
  21. Sending our sympathies and condolences too Malcolm.

We are heading north across Breydon and Yarmouth tomorrow sadly, the slack water timing starts to get a bit late afternoon after Friday :(

Blimey, just across the river, close enough for you to have seen/heard my fairly dreadful stern mooring! lol .... what a shame though, we'll get to share that pint (or two) eventually 🍺
