  1. The owners took over just before the first lockdown! Quite a challenge but they kept going with local meal deliveries etc. A proper welcoming pub πŸ‘
  2. Perfect for your location Ian, the couple who run it make everyone so welcome. They put their heart and soul into it πŸ‘
  3. If you can get there I can highly recommend The Lion. Good pub, nice people and truly dog friendly πŸ‘πŸΎπŸΊ
  4. There may (or may not) be one or two flaws with this idea πŸ˜‚ No revolutions please, we're British (other nationalities are available). When you come right down to it... Oil companies have us over a barrel. πŸ˜‚
  5. I love the comparison to the picture on the can lol
  6. My toll is Β£0.98p less than last year. I'm seeking financial advice on how to invest my new found wealth πŸ‘ (Changed to a slightly smaller boat, although we have more space than before so a rare win/win)
  7. Sounds interesting, did you take a photo?

    My Day

A very long, very hot shower, a cold beer and a roast chicken dinner.... Now feeling almost human again. The job isn't finished but the hardest, most aromatic work is done so I'm happy with that πŸ‘

    My Day

I didn't realise you had a week, that's great! I think the blue skies are going to be around a while too πŸ‘

    My Day

I had the pleasure of meeting Lulu & Selsie at Potter today plus the very handsome Desmond and beautiful Luna. Next time hopefully it'll be warmer and my boat will be somewhat more fragrant lol
  11. The only things I keep telling myself are that I have to do something anyway and this should make a real improvement to the one thing that would be good to improve. On the other hand... I can offer volunteers beer, tea, coffee, cake, never ending gratitude, money, my car, my house... a pact with the devil? πŸ˜‚
  12. It's not too late to volunteer... πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚
  13. Looking at my photo again that could make disassembly a little less risky of "unpleasantness" too. OK so I just have too wait for some deliveries and I'll be getting on with it. Thanks again.
  14. I have this morning found and ordered some 40mm bar so it'll be belt and braces for me now anyway. I'm leaving the diverter valve in place which I'm guessing also has some mechanism for stopping water ingress at the point where it would discharge. So the skin valve, the diverter valve and some good effective bungs in the cut off pipes. Belt, braces and a fetching pair of garters if you will πŸ˜‚ Seriously I'm very grateful for all the advice from you both πŸ‘πŸΊ
  15. Thanks Smoggy, this is why I ask questions here... straight forward good advice πŸ‘
  16. Sorry to ask so many questions but I think I may leave the diverter valve fitted in the boat and cut off short (3 or 4 inches) the current pipes from the wc and to the holding tank and seal them off. Would either of these items be suitable please - https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B08155HPJP/ref=sspa_mw_detail_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&sp_csd=d2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9waG9uZV9kZXRhaWwy&th=1 https://www.amazon.co.uk/Waste-Pipe-Cap-Stop-End/dp/B015QBD1RG/ref=mp_s_a_1_18?crid=6DLMB7HYC3DX&keywords=38mm+sanitation+hose+end+cap&qid=1645282805&sprefix=38mm+sanitation+hose+end+cap%2Caps%2C77&sr=8-18
  17. Thank you John, if I do this the waste hose from wc to holding tank will be about 2 feet long and all on a slight slope down to the tank. I cant imagine I would ever want to use the facility to pump overboard but with the outlet already fitted in the skin converting her back would be quite a straight forward job I hope. I'm just about decided to do it, I have to change a pipe anyway and this could even be a (slightly) less unpleasant way to get the job done and end up with a more efficient system πŸ‘
  18. I just had another look after reading your post. That's good advice, thank you 🍺
  19. In the photo of the diverter valve you can see last years new pipe from the wc to valve on the right and the older pipe I want to replace on the left. In the photo of the top of the holding tank you can see the pipe to be replaced going in to the tank and running beside it the new pipe to the diverter valve. It seems to me I could simply cut the new pipe at this point and connect into the holding tank. This would cut the journey length of waste by nearly 2 metres and remove the obstruction of the valve. It would also remove a slightly uphill section. I would flush and seal the diverter valve, leaving it in place to avoid any interference with the hull and having it available if some future owner takes her off broads and wants to use it. Any thoughts or potential problems I've missed please?
  20. Lynne will almost certainly be in the office tomorrow. Such a shame to see that, every boat is someone's pride and joy.
  21. Poor Paul, he did most of mine too as an emergency while we were having a short holiday down South. We went to the pub while he did it too πŸ˜‚ As for bottling it... an emergency bucket is as far as I'll go, if I must πŸ™‚
  22. Brian Wards do indeed have it, they sell it in 1m lengths so I will have to measure before ordering but it's a very reasonable Β£10.51
  23. Here was I thinking it's a cheap job.... any volunteers? 😁
