  1. I'm not sure that I meant camping on water literally lol It was more a comparison with yachts in the south of France... there in an element of roughing it, one that I enjoy immensely πŸ‘πŸ˜
  2. Danni isn't that keen, but she sleeps to the engine noise while we're under way and gets nice walks before and after a cruise plus she gets to sleep on top of us at night so she makes the best of it and she has improved the more she gets used to it.. If it really came down to dog or boat then the boat would go, it would break my heart but that's better than breaking hers πŸ™‚
  3. That's an interesting post Chris, it made stop and rethink. I wonder if there is enough 'new blood' to sustain big fleets, it's an interesting point. Is it better to sell exclusivity at a premium or stack em high and sell em cheap (relatively). Also what if those paying for a one off experience don't have a good (very expensive) week? In today's world enough bad reviews can kill a business, even if they are not fair. I'm glad these are not business decisions that I have to make!
  4. I think that marketing a Broads boating holiday as camping on the water would see a lot more return customers than some sort of South of France millionaire vacation. It's Norfolk, it's beautiful but there is always a fair chance of mud, cold, tin pie dinner went you can't moor at a pub and a blocked WC It's a wonderful holiday, beautiful boats with all mod cons can make it glamping on the water but it can't make it a 5* hotel or Michelin restaurant. Raising expectation to something aspirational rather than realistic sounds like the quickest way to disappoint people who are paying a lot of money.... and as for the frustrated entitled's reaction to real life v marketing fantasy! It won't be pretty!
  5. Great photos, your new boy has a brilliant cheeky face! πŸ‘
  6. They boot up very quickly....
  7. Elastic shoelaces... having tried them as a complete sceptic I now think they're great. Fit them once and any ordinary shoe becomes a slip on, they stretch as you insert your foot but always go back to a nice tight fit, although you can readjust them if necessary I've never had to.
  8. I agree with the principle Ian but I think they'd just say you shouldn't have moored there if it's not suitable for your boat. Which raises another whole raft of questions about losing (suitable) moorings!
  9. In earlier days of the internet I have Admined and Moderated on various platforms... herding cats would be a fair description I believe 😁
  10. That is a beautiful part of the world, one of our favourites πŸ™‚
  11. I looked at a map and think it is listed as Quayway It looks like that's the one on the map πŸ‘
  12. The thing is though Vaughan while I absolutely agree with you about the need for BA reform the NBN is a discussion forum run by folks who freely give their time despite having real life day jobs and commitments, it's not really fair to ask them or expect them to pick up the challenge of becoming a campaigning group... imagine the work and the hours that would require!
  13. Is that at the Marina, I think I've filled up with water at the public mooring before?
  14. I've passed there many times but never noticed their services... can you point to where you moor for them please?
  15. Having moved home moorings to the south last year I have access to the facilities at the wonderful Swancraft. When out and about on a cruise though one doesn't always want to return home for water/pump outs etc. There doesn't seem to be many obvious places to find these services though so if members would like to start and add to a list I'm sure I won't be the only one to benefit.... Thank you πŸ‘ I can start with Brooms of course! πŸ™‚
  16. I owe it all to Mr Google and his Lens 😁
  17. Google Lens suggested this, the flower looks right!

    My Day

Ian, It does but it won't get it I'm afraid, those figures are largely sums that will be spent elsewhere along the coast. Money will be found for GY the rest will keep get bandaids and temporary fixes, in other words Managed Retreat, there was some hope in a policy of Hold The Line but that isn't going to happen.

    My Day

Look at Happisburgh to see what the future holds for Hemsby and Winterton Ian. There are lots of committees and consultations and plans, no shortage of worthy investigations.. in fact the only thing in short supply is money. So the platitudes and fancy names for giving up will continue until the day we are forced to pay to demolish our own houses and are relocated like internal refugees.
  20. As others have said, just ring them, there's no clearer water than that from the horses mouth... if it hadn't been forced to drink. If I may mix as many metaphors as possible πŸ˜‚
  21. From their website - "Dogs are not permitted in the bedrooms upstairs" Pretty clear I'm afraid 🐾
  22. With age comes wisdom so I take a sip from everyone's pint before coming back from the bar.... it's the least I can do to stop folks from wasting beer! They'd thank me, if they knew I'm sure 🍺🍺🍺 😁
  23. It certainly does! More than one! Thanks again 🍺
  24. Thank you, it's very windy out and it's making it feel colder than it probably is! Speedy help from Rum Punch saves the day! 🍺
  25. Thank you! Now nice and warm and will reset time/day/clock later. πŸ‘
