  1. Perhaps Richardson only hire to face book members surly this is discrimination perhaps i should inform wok?. John
  2. Hi Just been informed my Tesla delivery has been put back to September (the original date was October) not happy they needn't have said that it would be this month why not wait until they have received it before they tell me it's ready for delivery. John
  3. Just came across an old log book 2001 1190lt Hippersons £269=00 2004 Womax 400lt £150=00 2005 Hippersons 550lt £247=00 2006 Boutique 600lt £300=00 2011 Somerlayton 300lt £225=00 didn't think to keep a price per lt each year certainly has jumped up lately and if unable to get FAME free fuel you have to add cost of fuel additive to go on top of pump price. Not filled up this year yet. John
  4. Hi Clive you have to join face book to see your email about your new boat?. John
  5. Hi If nothing else you really should remove the heat from those agm battery's. John
  6. Hi Understand There are some items that could be made redundant and along with a bit of wiring and new ends would be a lot safer and little cost. ANY BODY CAN DO ANYTHING IF THEY PUT THERE MIND TO IT it just might take a little longer plus give you enormous satisfaction and enjoyment.just follow the instructions and connect the ends John
  7. Hi Ray i have just had a chance to enlarge your photos! with out being critical i suggest that if you fit a combined inverter charger you can then get rid of many of your items this would make things neater and take less room, your battery's arnt wired for best results (see diagram) your agm battery's are to near the engine and will get too hot (agm's are not as forgiving as lead acid). What does your fridge power converter do? normally it would be wired to fuse board with 50amp cable straight to fridge. i suspect that various items have been added over the years and fitted where there was space.would it be possible to move fuses etc into a cupboard out of engine room? if not fitting a extractor fan to engine room to reduce temperature would be very beneficial. If you would like speak to me on this, message me with your no and i will call you. John
  8. Oh and Ray i take it you know the difference between Pure Sine wave inverter's and the cheaper Quasi wave ones and there limitations. John
  9. Hi Ray As Grendel said Just follow the instructions that come with the inverta The 240 Ac earth connection goes to the galvanic iserlator the and shore power socket. The Dc earth/Neg is as Vaughan said separate. the Inverta will automatically switch from mains supply from battery's to shore power plus battery charging unless you are talking about a cheaper standalone inverta. a 1000 Wk inverta will only run a 500Wk micro wave. The engine starter battery should be separate and only run engine electrics. solar is connected to battery side of iserlating switch through a fuze this will then keep batterys charged when boat is moored . see part of my installation below. John
  10. Dont use brake cleaner it is for dust in brakes.Gunk was superseded by steam cleaners, it must be washed of with water hose, not recommended in a boat. John
  11. Hi A sheet of plastic layed under sump with a absorbent pads on top to catch and prevent crud dropping in bilges, then a mixture of petrol and paraffin in a container, work mixture around with a long bristle one inch brush leave for a while then repeat, then rinsing of with water or wiping with rag, then start engine to evaporate the water. the paraffin stops petrol evaporating which has most power, and then leave a film of oil over engine to reduce rust take care to cover/prevent dirt mixture entering alternator and any wiring joints. steam cleaning is best but not practical in a boat as no drain to take the crude, frequent wiping of engine with lint free cloth during the year will prevent getting dirty in first place along with curing any oil leaks. AND obviously dont smoke or have naked flames. John

    Liveaboard

Hi Tice I think you need to think more on what you wish for, living on a boat without a mooring with electric is for the unemployed or retires is fanciable, you say you work three days a week if at home you will need electric and wirefi or transport or parking for a car/motorbike etc to your work place. may be buying a flat with your £11,000 as deposit might be more appropriate move . John
  13. Hi Craig Why do you need two bilge pumps? For a cert c you only need one fixed and one portable. otherwise as Vaughan said. If you feel that you need two wire them to a separate battery supply by a fuzed connection. John
  14. Hi Trevor suggest you ring Hippersons at Beccles or Goodchilds. getting F A M E free diesel rather then cheapest would be my priority. Fish dock at Lowerstoft is cheapest but you will have to pay to go through lock gates at Oulton Broads so for only 600 lt probably not worth it unless you sail round through Yarmouth. John
  15. Hi Wooster not the best place to tap in the fuel line as that is the engine fuel filter. BUT if it worked before ! have you bleed the fuel line to do this remove the fuel pipe from heater then remove the electric cable from the pump, then run a wire from the pos term of battery or any available live supply then flash the bare end of wire to pump terminal repeatably you should get a little spurt of fuel from end of hose every time you touch the pump terminal along with a tick the pump only pumps once every time the heater calls for fuel NOT continuously like most pumps do. when you get fuel spurting from end of hose reattach to pump and wire to pump term you my have to then switch the heater on and of a couple of times purge air in heater this will make a ticking noise from pump to indicate the pump is working. John
  16. Most likely America but then again how many boats per year sailed does this represent. John
  17. Hi Wooster my boat 44ftx11ft 6" has a displacement hull speed of just over 9 knots as worked out by a marine architect this is the max theoretical speed even with 150 hp engine it wont go faster if you have a planning hull then you would go faster as you would slide/float over the water rather then push the water aside as a displacement hull does. there is a optimum prop size on the broads displacement hull is approx 17 inch dia and 13inch pitch powered by a 45 to 60 hp engine.you should be able to achieve the max RPM of the engine when flat out if sized correctly. often hire boats are sized with a larger/coarser pitch to stop the engine being over revved causing engine damage. you would get more speed with a smaller engine if you had a narrow hull width but still the hull speed would apply. we wont go into navy Destroyers as this gets very complicated . John
  18. Hi Wooster you cant compare diesel car engines to boat engines. boat engines are slower userly max RPM.2800rpm cars are 6,000 rpm with constant changes in speed, and all year running ie cold winter tick over in traffic. a diesel that is charging battery's should be at a speed in that the engine doesn't shake often 1,000rpm. regular oil changes with good quality oil and a filter at least once a year before lay up are essential. John
  19. As i only now do three thousand a year now thought a Tesla might be more convenient.it also has a very good all round driver vision. i put my present car on a maintenance charger so not much difference there,i can charge at boat yard with no problems if i need to just cost of a micky box to take advantage of my solar panels, so no bills, no queuing at pumps. although insurance is higher.just jump in and go. John
  20. Ordered my S tesla in February the delivery was to be in November then September now end of next month. John
  21. Hi They are all 71c or 72c model no is the different ratios. Google it for more info. are you moored at Jones, St Ives. John
  22. Hi You should not put petrol in with diesel ! You can dilute with Paraffin up to %25 this was a BOAR army directive for cold weather to resist waxing. John
  23. Hi Micky I have a workshop manual for the Borg Warner 72C gear box for sale if you are interested. John
  24. Hi And in older engine rubber seals might not cope. John
