  1. Hi If clutch not releasing depress clutch pedal then keeping it depressed place a wooden tapered wedge between clutch lever and stop release pedal and depress again pushing peg in further this will hold pressure plate in the released/depressed position then rock car back and forth in gear if still stuck remove timing cover plate on top of the bell housing and then turn flywheel until you can see the plate in the gap between flywheel and pressure plate using a small screw driver pry plate away from flywheel, when free, remove peg and set the gap between lever and stop at 25 thou, also oil the plunger at the centre of cover where lever connects . John
  2. Hi AND after he moved it he applied the hand brake!! which is rusty so is now sized on, knock hand brake levers that protrude from the rear back plate off/to the rear. Don't apply hand brake again until they have been freed of . John
  3. Hi If it was parked with handbrake on its probably sized jack up each wheel in turn if wheel turns by hand it isn't sized when you get one that dosn't turn remove wheel undo the two Alan screws that hold the drum on then then back off the adjusters anti clockwise on right side and clockwise on left side. if a front wheel with a hammer hit the drum all round while turning it. if a rear wheel remove screws and back off single adjuster anti clockwise then check the hand brake lever that sticks out of rear plate if stuck in the forwards position knock it to the rear. after wards all brakes will need derusting cleaning greasing with copper slip and oiled to work freely on other joints. Also spray all bleed screws with penetrating oil. John
  4. Hi They then took over the Berny Arms was still good (he also made home made wine from berry's around the back of the pub) always tried to get me p####d on this every time i went there. Then same thing happened started to make a go of it when rent went up, plus he was diagnosed with cancer so they left it then spiralled downwards. John
  5. Hi He may find if he removes the carb dash pot the brass needle will be verdgred and need GENTLY cleaning with a brillow pad or similar the inside and piston will also need cleaning/polishing this will make it run more smoothly also pull choke out the run some 20/thin oil around the base of the carb then push and pull the choke in and out several times to lubricate and mostine the cork washer that makes a petrol tight seal around the choke tube, also a couple squirts of 20 oil in the damper tube which is on he top of the dash pot. John
  6. One problem with liver boards is they swap electric points so often it looks lik they are hogging the mooring. Perhaps if the BA had a no return for 48 hours or so might make space available, or all boats must have a home mooring before they can toll there boat. or more electric posts. The BA's game plan only works if all boaters are non liver boards. John
  7. A speed limit is what it says THE MAX SPEED OVER THE GROUND you can go as slow as you like there are no min speeds on the broads. John
  8. Hi Another thing i would advise is remove the bottom of the rear side pocket's(2 screws) lift out the cardboard liner then squirt some 3in1 oil around the inner sill, you should see the end of a bolt which holds the rear subframe mounting to the sill protruding through then dose/paint WaxOil librerley then replace liner. this is where they can rot out of site, a prevention is better than replacing the sill end. Also at the center of the front of rear subframe, where the brake pipe runs up the gap between body and frame wire brush and coat with grease, the pipe can burst under emergency braking if rusted badly out of site. John
  9. Hi If he intends to drive it in the rain it needs a 6inch square of ally clipped on the inside of the font grill in line with the distributor cap to stop water blowing onto the cap and shorting out the ignition. John
  10. Have you never heard the expression BUCKET AND CHUCK IT, applies too most sailing boats. And what about fishmen?
  11. I wonder if any body will make up some and use false no plates, easy to do unlike car plates. John
  12. Hi Yes £2000=00 a year is good BUT! add £160,000=00 ( this years price) to this over 5yars is not good value. How much did the Dyke cost i wonder when owner ship changed recently. Perhaps BA missed a opportunity there as electricity is close by. John
  13. Hi Our electric blankets work very well as if chilly only need to switch on low dont evan have to get out of bed to do so. John

  17. Hi Karizma Battery's will last longer if kept fully charged when out of use and the electrolyte level kept to the correct level (A solar panel is very useful for this along with running the fridge, which is the biggest user of power overall.A nother trick for long geverty is to set the charging rate a little lower if using a advanced charger.Shore power is 240 volts Ac this is used directly for fridge Tv Micro wave and any other 240 Volt appliances plus it charges your battery's, When!! it is disconnected and your appliances revert to 12Volt Dc, If you have a inverta this will convert Dc to Ac to run your 240 Volt appliances when there is no shore power. There are several ways you can do this from the completely Automatically to owner having to remember to switch between units. Needless to say their is a cost between which system/way you decide to use. Sterling Power Products has a very good site plus a telephone help line service John
  18. Hi Karizma Lead acid battery's are the most cost efficient BUT do require maintained and storage outside the living area, if you combine the lad acide and the AGM set the charging rate to the lower type battery's they my be wont last as long but you will get some use from them. John
  19. Hi Rory You dont have to have a rail/bus bar you can make your own with 50amp cable just lupe all the top terminals in a row. Plus as Vaughan said. John
  20. Hi Fit a Ballard Aerial from Brian Wards. John
  21. We found having two sets of fenders was best one for when on mooring and one matched set for posing when sailing. Fender socks are a pain. John
  22. Hi Adam If you would like me to provide a new wiring diagram i need more info 1= how many batteries do you have and what type. 2= where are they positioned. 3= what are you aiming to achieve and how much do you have to spend. 4= what type of battery charger do you have and is it wired to shore power through a Galvanic Isolator. you dont have to have a battery for each thruster but you do need welding cables to carry the power from a battery to the thruster, so one battery can provide power for both thrusters, or from starter battery which is the best way as you only use the thrusters when the engine is running so power is replaced . John
  23. Hi Adam You need a large 11/13 plate Automotive battery (Car) for starting and thrusters charged by one of the engines, Then bank of leisure batteries for your domestics, two or four being ideal wired parallel these being charged by your other engine, trying to start your engines from a leisure battery is only going to be trouble, they dont have the power! you will only damage your starter motors.Having a advanced regulator on the leasure bank alternator is also a ideal option, Battery's that are constantly being discharged wont have a very long life. There is a combined regulator from Sterling that combines both alternators and charges and sorts the correct charging for all the battery's for the most economical charging BUT! they do have a cost, but the best way for max return.Sterling also provide wiring diagrams for there products, you can't wire both alternators to charge one battery bank just using there built in regulators, one alternator for one bank, or use a Sterling Combiner. John
  24. Hi Yousmon Suggest you remove the cardboard trim from the bottom rear side bins and spray with penetrating oil then Wax Oil this is where they corroid out of site until subfram becomes detached, difficult place to repair. John
