Got to add, the lie that foreigners are stealing all our jobs is revealed as foreigners are keeping costs down cost are beginning to rise rapidly and finding that work force isn’t as easy as it once was especially around the unskilled sector minimum wage is a joke and seasonal work really don’t appeal to long term plans firms are bleeding labour as those firms that are big enough to offer better wages just take what they need im watching skilled engineers joining Amazon on way more wedge while my firm is stuck unable to compete because no one wants the higher price of contracts. so maybe now we will see the true price of things now we can’t rely on cheaper labour

Install a NASA battery monitor (other makes available) and this tells me what's in, what is going out and how long it will last! At least give the hirer a fighting chance and stop them being paranoid about running out of power

We needed Sutton staithe last year and they was there when needed. I know it’s obvious but when the dung hits the air mover you might as well be in the North Sea. Twice we had engine trouble, one of which was terminal and it’s was a relief to see them approaching in a borrowed boat because we was moored in an inaccessible 24hour mooring. Fact of life here is that getting a tow back still needed time to happen and you can’t magic time and distance. The second time the service came out via van and got the engine started enough to get us back to our mooring. let’s be honest. Our engines are getting on a bit and things happen so the peace of mind and the many hundreds of pounds it would have cost to tow us back easily paid for itself.

Rents and pensions (private) will not effected by ni increase and you get to keep more dosh via income tax lowering. I run the engine with my smart charger on and all it does is ramp down the charge as it senses the state of the battery. But corrosion is a thing on exposed copper connections and easily dislodged when working in the engine bay.

Yup, it’s a bit like holding a door open, everyone seems to charge through. I also go on the idea that on the boatyard side you have less vision forward and space. For your first time, I’d go for a flattie or for those weird people, a bathtub. easy access at all points of mooring, vision (even stern on, just lean out of window) makes this type of boat very user friendly. seen too many new hands struggling to get off high sides or being in one particular angle to be able to get off to moor.

Circular firing squad. the issue is limited space. As boaters, we are very restricted to areas we can stop. As anglers, free spaces are rare but more space is available if you fork out and join clubs. And if times turn tough, more anglers are going to use the 24hr moorings. Our space just isn’t expanding and what we have got needs protecting because I think the battles for space will grow. As a hobby, fishing can be a cheap pastime but a major cost is a place to fish. Free fishing only serves to attract anglers to these spaces to what is a limited resource

And totally ignore the other people complaining of confrontation by other anglers. I carry all sorts of stuff in my van. Even when I go out fishing.

Cheap dash cams from those websites in the Far East. under £40, record on a loop, plug in to 12volt socket and with a screen suction pad entirely mobile to any side of your boat where there is glass. just a thought

Can’t moor up on fishing platforms, can’t moor up here because a mass of paddle boards rafted up. Can’t moor here because someone prefers fishing from the bank so they will give their craft six feet extra room. Private land taking advantage of public flood defences in order to post signs say no mooring. I know I’m going to be flamed but I really do think the 24hr moorings should be for boats and sailing craft and if you need to fish, do it off your boat. I do.

I use an old smart phone with no sim card in running an app for speed and distance, attached to the windscreen by a cheap holder.

We will. Especially now we got a paraffin heater that works well and is clean. Apart from lockdown last year it was battery usage that knocked us back. Fine if we could get a hook up but you lose that little bit of freedom if you’re looking for power.

the oil may have moved on but your engine has not. Modern stuff is just too thin, too clean and full of other magic not even thought of in the 70's. I don't know the exact oil you need but I use what was around at the time of production for my BMC 1.5 , I use Morris 20w50.

Not the answer your looking for but I just fill watering can with anti freeze and undo top of raw water filter and pour while engine running.
