I must admit, I know the hulls etc come out of moulds but I didn't realise just how thin that hull is :default_ohmy: makes me wonder how thick the hulls are on the GRP boats that go out to sea, coastal or otherwise?

    Chris

Believe that is all about the class of the boat when built, different classes to different standards.

  2. A tale of my sisters two dogs that put a smile on my face. One was a corgi cross called Toby and the other a terrier cross called Jack, now Toby would follow me around like a best friend whilst Jack just did whatever he wanted.

So, on one visit from them I am in my room doing end of week paperwork with Toby sat on my lap and the door to the room is half shut, half open when Toby leaped off my lap and ran to door and slammed it shut in Jacks face who I only glimpsed as the door was closing and proceeded to sit down against the door to stop the "intruder" from entering.

    Boy did I laugh.

Why do we think that our cars are always written off by insurance companies, if they they get caught in a flood?

Cars have far more electrickery with chips to control all manner of things so the man hours to replace these items often means such vehicles are written off!

Nobody said it was as easy as wiping down cushions and a quick spray around with a fabric refresher but I would think an industrial wet vac and a steam cleaner is a good start.

As long we all do know it was a complete accident due to the very High Tide then normal and thankful everyone was all right. Who is going to Salvage this Boat as it's not going to be cheap either with Repairs and refurnishing it fit for the Broads once again.

The unnamed yard will recover, repair and have it ready to go quicker than you think all under their insurance Andrew.

its as open as we can legally allow, opinions are allowed as long as they remain within the terms and conditions and refrain from attacking others opinions.

    .

As a mod on a different type of forum I fully agree with what you say grendel until you get to the part I quote above.

People should be allowed to question and debate posts, this I believe will make posters choose their words more carefully.

What's wrong with a girlie button? Helped me out more times than I care to admit when mooring :default_hiding:  :default_biggrin:

Absolutely nothing wrong with having them and they have their uses however some here do seem to think that they effect their manliness.  :default_gbxhmm:

For the record, Thurne Bungalows Management Company, leaseholders of the quiet moorings at Potter, has formally offered to lease the BA both sets of moorings and at a peppercorn rent.  However, the quay headings need total replacement, probably in steel piling, and the plots need to be raised to a safer height.  This is a hugely expensive exercise. Such major costs could not be entertained by TBMC's shareholding leaseholders.  The BA probably thought along similar lines.

I guess it may come down to how long the lease is for.

well you could try selling it as an antique, the green hue would make it a particularly rare item. a patina acquired in the steamy backwater tributaries of the chinese deltas.

I had no idea MM had spent any time in the chiinese deltas! :default_biggrin:

The price cap only applies to domestic customers. Commercial customers which include the BA, pubs, shops etc are subject to the open market which are generally much higher than the price cap. However, like domestic customers the new prices only kick in when your current contract ends. It all depends how many years the BA fixed its contract for. Your suggestion that the prices may be reviewed before May 2023 suggests their contract may expire before then. My guess is that they will have to make a standard card £5 otherwise you won't get enough units on the post to make it useful. I was going to say it will lead to more engine running on moorings to charge batteries, but I'm not sure burning diesel would be any cheaper...

The price of diesel has dropped slightly in the last couple of weeks but any yard selling will have to hold off passing on any reduction if they refilled their tank before the  price dropped or take a loss.

Shall we get back to the original topic the constant ruffling of feather and egos becomes a bit boring in the end.

Perhaps it does but it is not always easy to turn a blind eye when somebody makes subtle or snide comments, then there is the added problem of the writen words being misinterpreted of course.

    Congratulations.

Now translate all that lot into one of Richardsons' average hire boats and imagine how long the trial run would have to last.

Also, the plaintive cries on the forum, about "lack of tuition"!

Would the hire yard need to tell them everything. Might be good for the engineer during  call out but dangerous to tell a hirer. Just a thought.
