Thanks oldBerkshireBoy, I never went for four hours, did shorter bursts. Always used shore power, so the generator never kicked in. Ferry marina did give me ten shore power cards (free). Used zero fuel.

Bow thrusters are a great invention, but I needed practice.  Learning my mistakes could involve hitting outer boats!

My wife and I shower every day (quickly) so I guess that uses water up quicker. I'd say you might reach two days without filling up water, but I worried  after 1.5.

I did know to bring towels. it just seems mean to me.

Guess you can now throw away the red learner plates and use the green provisional plates next time :default_biggrin: (Subject for a new thread or has it been done before?)

Thanks for an honest write up from a first timer and have to agree with CC and the pubs getting up to speed again probably with new staff as many didnt return.

  2. Hi, can I ask how the eco- friendly electric boat behaved regarding the batteries , did you mange 4-5hrs running in silence before the generator kicked in? You also touched on reverse mooring being difficult, were you aware of the bow thruster or perhaps it was of little help and must say the water refil every day, day and a half sounds poor if only two of you onboard.

I would say that you did the right thing when following the sailing boat by passing it when you felt comfortable to do so and in fairness to Ferry Marina they do say to bring towels.

Hi Berkshire boy BMC engines are bomb proof with very few vices.  PROVIDING they are maintained properly with premium products and not allowed to over heat.  they have made millions of them in both petrol and diesel and probably the most widely used engine going.  John

Hi John, Yes I`ve seen and heard this many times and so far I havent had any problems, that said like others I am interested in to what happened as it does seem to be a strange one.

Heard on the water that a mooring might be available soon at Swancraft.

Yard has shore power, pump out, diesel, gas facilities, workshop for repairs and maintenance and cctv.

Paul on 01603 712632 is the man to talk to.

Update: Two mooring will be available soon in this well maintained yard, one side on up to 28ft and the other side on up to 23ft. £50 per/ft + vat

  5. Sister fitted a baby stair gate 3ft away from the front door to stop her little dog shredding the mail. Came home one evening to find dog stuck in the small area between the door and the gate, never did figure that one out as dog was way too small to jump over the gate.

I've done both festival and the revival a few years ago but no more I'm afraid. It used to be quite inclusive in the early years but the last time we went, having spent quite a bit on travel etc to be there, VIP passes were needed to get anywhere special.

Must admit I  havent been for ages so thanks for the Heads up on passes. Can always catch it on TV but you cant smell the fumes and rubber on TV :default_sad:

  7. Goodwood is great for watching the classic old saloon cars race, four wheel drifting and huge tank slappers is the norm as they come out of the corners arms crossed on the big steering wheels.

Monaco now needs a sprinkler system installed and activated at times throughout the race to liven the race up or drop it from the calander because that race yesterday was so boring and I wonder how much more Bottas can take before he quits.

Maybe because ‘away’ fans often stay overnight in hotels or b&bs?

Some perhaps, for the most it is a one day event, Go, watch, and moan about the ref in the car, coach or train heading home.

  9. At the moment I dont see how a well designed and correctly maintained electrical system might lead to more running of engines at anti social hours as long as recommended hours of cruising per day are observed seeing as these boats are so new.

You ever been in a glider?

I won't go deeply into the subject (which is important if you are on a 7-hour flight or even longer - especially at my age) but polish gliders do generally come with a "Pee-tube".  Don't fly close behind one.

Much like a Transit van (others are available) tearing up a motorway on a friday afternoon getting the lads home for the weekend after a week away you mean.

Both of my replaced hips are titanium, great until you go through airport security and the alarms go off!

Have a sister with titanium hip and knee to make matters worse she takes capsules of little white homeopathic tablets with her on holiday. We got used to waiting for her to get through security whilst we sat in the bar on the other side.:default_beerchug:
