Were you there first Kev?
, far from it Ray more like one of the first 100 through the doors. For those thinking of visiting it is now card payments only, beer prices are very reasonable but I did hear a grumble about the price of wine and our four legged friends are welcome in both bars at the present time.

Not at all. I found it amusing. We should remember that The Thin White Duke himself referred to them as The Norfolk Broads. A point if anyone knows who I'm referring to!
The Thin White Duke did refer to The Norfolk Broads but wasnt it under the aka of Ziggy Stardust.

Before some members shoot me down I have never ran a hire boat business but I have ran my own business for a few years and I can’t understand why woods would wait for brake downs to happen then send an engineer out when boats could be checked though on a change over day as it’s all time and money surly a more costly way to send an engineer around the Norfolk countryside?
especially when people having a good holiday and not braking down every few minutes should be their priority as a unhappy customer won’t return. And bad publicity spreads so far especially with social media in this day.
Thats just my take on running a business.
My parents used to run a small fleet of six wedding cars. Rolls Royce and Jags in the main, these werent new cars by any standards but were well looked after and every time they went out my parents were praying nothing would happen causing the bride to be delayed on their big day.
We all know about Murphys Law dont we!

Went to the Shoulder of Mutton with family visitors and a well behaved collie dog last night around 7pm, we didnt pre book a table and were told to order the food early as there would be delay in serving due to them being busy which wasnt a problem to us.
Three different meals arrived before we had finished our first drinks which suprised us all and everyone enjoyed their meals. Chips were chunky homemade chips and the bill didnt make me weep.I`ll drink in the Ram and eat in the Mutton.

Nothing beats an apple crumble.. the big point of debate of course is the custard. Hot crumble must be accompanied by cold custard! Yes? 😁
Cream for me, any type will do. Rather eat apple crumble without cold custard tbh if that is the only choice.

How true.
Never approach a strange dog if it is attached by a chain or a lead, so that it cannot escape if it thinks it needs to. Especially outside a supermarket, where it doesn't know where its owner has gone, so it is stressed and will want to defend itself.
If you need to approach a strange animal, there is a procedure :
2/. Hold out your hand in front of you, so that the dog can smell it. Your smell will always tell a dog if you are friendly.
But please, never approach anyone's dog if it has been left outside a supermarket tied up on a lead. You are just asking for trouble.
All I might add to 2/ a folded hand like a clenched fist with the fingers underneath encourages a dog to sniff under the hand and is harder for a dog to bite than an open palm

Always best to ring ahead but Swancraft, Brundall is £1.70 something a litre, (sorry Ive forgotton exactly how much) and £20 for a pump out plus they also stock Calor bottles.

It is very difficult to find a full residential mooring but I hear that a few marinas have been invited to be considered. I thought Cove was leisure moorings and as for traveling time a lot depends on how, what time of day and where in Norwich you want to get to.

How do you go about transferring microchip details over without a previous owners say so? Or is that sorted by the rehoming place?
Think the vet does it - for an admin fee of course!

If you get a big waggy tail when you collect that will be a good sign.
Yep and a dog biscuit or two helps a lot
Do not do what my sister did once with a new rescue dog on its first day home. She collected it on a Sunday and for its first meal she treated it to the scraps of the Sunday roast, not much, just little bits of meat, peas and gravy.
Well, it had been fed dry dog food for a couple of months whilst being behind bars and promptly threw up all over the kitchen floor!

Yep outside and both on leads so that they can be seperated if it kicks off. Start from a short distance apart before closing the distance between them both. Ears and tails might give a clue as to how the meeting is going.

Has anyone noticed a downward trend to services provided to boaters in general?
I’m on the southern Broads and getting diesel was a lot harder than past years.
Did you try Swancraft.

I understand the salt is washed off before serving but how would you say that it make a difference during cooking.

Oh dear.Lots of water bring to the boil, then add salt and a little olive oil.Add pasta reduce heat slightly. DONT overcook or burn!
Is that one bag or two of salt Ian?
On a more serious note I cook mine with zero salt as I cant stand the stuff in or on any food, does it really make a difference when cooking.

The boats seem to be charged for by size now and not per head as they used to be.
Regards Marge and Parge
Did charging by the number of people onboard really take place?

Hi everybody.
Does anyone have some technicals information about his motor; THORNYCROFT, n° de série 3293, power 22,82kw ?
Thanks by advance to your help.
IF we take the 22,82kw and convert that figure to old horsepower units then that equates to 30.6 hp and using the Thornycroft link above you could have a T-75 engine & 31hp or the T-80 & 32 hp but as you can see the T-75 is closer.

I believe that when the first GRP Boats were laid up no one really understood how strong GRP really is so went overboard and laid them up really heavily. Later on when there was a better understanding of the properties of GRP they then did a lighter lay up.
As OBB said earlier it is more to do with the age than anything else.
Im afraid you misunderstood, my belief is that now all boats are built to standards (classes) based on their intended use. So a sea going boat is built to a different standard than that of an inland river boat.
Then again I could be wrong.
