  1. Thanks for the recommendation - Broads Harmony looking favourite
  2. Simple question in the title. Looking to hire a boat with 8ft6in air draft but need to navigate Ludham bridge (which I would do windscreen down and low tide anyway), but just curious.
  3. Hi All Hoping to return this year after a few years away. Just wondering the favoured spots for wild mooring using mudweights and are there any no-go areas to know about, we will be on the northern broads, likely hiring from Richardsons as long as we can get under Ludham bridge. Thanks all in advance, I appreciate your help and advice always. Simon
  4. Thanks all, unfortunately we are too big for Wroxham Bridge :-(
  5. Hi All Just looking for suggestions on something a little different. We have visited the Broads several times, mostly for 3-4 night trips from Wroxham or Stalham. This year, we are bringing a couple of extra family members (grandparents) who haven't seen the Broads before and I wondered what your suggested itinerary might look like for a 3 night break? Typically, we might do Wroxham -> Acle -> Stokeby -> S.Walsham -> Ludham -> Stalham/Sutton -> Horning And stay/moor where we can. Any suggestions for something a little different would be welcome, we are happy eating in/out depending on availability/moorings etc. Boat pickup is Friday PM. Thanks in advance :-) Simon
  6. Thankyou YnysMon, really appreciate the tips. Are the wild moorings (and Pedro's moorings) on the Pedro's side of the river, I can't quite get my bearings exactly where you mean (sorry). Thanks again.
  7. Hi All We're hoping to moor at Acle on Fri 24th July, got a table booked at the Bridge Inn. Hoping to land there around 5pm, so fingers crossed for a space. Can you moor on both sides of the river? Thanks
  8. I didn't realise you could get to the Dog Inn from there - great suggestion, thanks :-)
  9. Thanks Vannessan - yes, we've had a 2nd mudweight before which worked really well :-)
  10. Hi All, some pointers please from the experts! I always get a little nervous about not being able to find a mooring during the busy season, even though evenings are longer and the weather is generally kinder. I've mudweighted in a couple of broads previously but wondered if you could suggest good safe places to mudweight should the need arise? Thanks in advance, it's an OCD thing .....! Simon
  11. Hi All, looking forward to our annual trip in late July. I noticed on the broads authority website, that Ludham Bridge moorings are no longer listed and on another website they have been struck out (https://www.mynorfolkbroadsboating.co.uk/norfolk broads authority moorings.html), is this a recent change and are plenty of moorings still available at Ludham? Many thanks Simon
  12. A really quick one ...... Just looking for an up to date map/guide that details the rivers/bridges/mooring info (free/chargeable) etc. I'll get most info online before we go, but wondered if there was a recommended publication containing the above? Cheers Simon
  13. Thanks everyone for your replies, really appreciate it :-)
  14. Good point, maybe next time around. We really liked the Royale last time so will judge on the day and go for it.
  15. We have Brinks Royale for 4 nights in August (can't wait) and planning to cruise up the River Ant to Barton and Stalham. Last time we visited we had Brinks Royale but I didn't risk Ludham bridge because the height on the Royale is listed as 8ft6in, same as Ludham Bridge. I watched the Captain's Blog review on the Royale and the 'London Rascal'/Robin (think that's his name) managed it no problem. I've since researched the bridge clearance in various places and the general opinion seems to be that the height gauges are generous and the Royale should be fine, especially at low tides. Would appreciate expert opinions from those in the know please to avoid red faces in August ........ Cheers Simon
  16. Great webcam, thanks HW. Not intrusive in the slightest.
  17. Nice tips Stumpy, especially the gloves as I remember the cheap polyprop last time. Many thanks.
  18. Thanks Jeff, I didn't realise there was a calendar so that's great.
  19. Indeed, although I've seen quite a few who miss the obvious ...!
  20. Thanks v much, really appreciate the info :-)
  21. Sounds good, thanks for the info. We are there 19th-24th Aug, so will miss the Ragatta :-( Thanks again
