  1. Temporary 40ft wet dock mooring shortly available in Horning pending sale. Parking on site adjacent to road. If interested, please PM me.
  2. Anyone looking to purchase a delightful mooring plot please send me a PM for details. 42ft x 12ft quay headed wet dock, lawned area and car parking for 2 cars. Not Crabbetts, and not cheap! Sorry to be a little cryptic.
  3. The concrete walkways under Ludham Bridge are at 8ft 3" airdraft, so if the water level is below the concrete you have that much extra space. Take it very slowly if in any doubt.
  4. There seems to have been far more boats passing the bridge this morning than I have seen all season.
  5. I dare anyone to have more than one steak & kidney pudding at The Recruiting sergeant. I'm sorry if this thread is really for Mince Pies!.
  6. I love the banter, but does no-one want my Rhond anchors. I also have a 22kg mud weight! Christmas presents?
  7. For sale, two rhond anchors £15. Pair of wooden oars £40, and a few small fenders free. Please PM me for photos if interested. Available in Ludham.
  8. I sold mine last year after 22 years of ownership. It had been in private hands from new. I think I still have some old paperwork and photos. pm me if interested
  9. Say 5 litres per hour for 5 hours a day for 6 days equals is 150 litres a week. At £2 per litre that would amount to £300.
  10. Depends a lot on speed and use of tides. However, on my Perkins 4107, driving a Collins 35, I averaged about 1/2 gallon an hour. Thats over many seasons of use.
  11. You will probably get 8ft 3 at Ludham Bridge. The concrete walkways are at 8ft.
  12. Don't forget that the concrete walkways at Ludham Bridge are 8ft, so if any woodwork is showing that is extra airdraft. If in doubt, take it at absolute dead slow with someone watching outside from the stern. Apologies if you are" sucking eggs". Have a great week.
  13. I hope all the woodies and their keepers had a great weekend at Beccles. Just wondering if any of you would like an individual private mooring in the centre of Horning, as mine will be available for renting from the beginning of September. Room for up to 37ft. x 11 ft in a boat dock, so access to both sides. Water, parking and electric by arrangement. I would prefer a woodie or "wooden top" but it will be available to GRP's if no other interest; no upper deck boats though. Anyone interested please message me.
  14. Typical jam at the bridge today when a sedan type stopped with the bows well under the bridge but then decided they couldn't make it, and reversed back upstream and moored. I spoke to the hirers who said they needed 8'6 but the board showed 8', whereas in reality there was 8'9 . They said they were first time hirers and they had had about 10 mins instruction, from the Stalham yard and little more than "this is forward, this is reverse, and off you go"...their words not mine. I helped them through, and also another sedan from the same yard which needed 8'8. This subject has been raised many times before and I have to ask the question, do yards have a standard handover procedure or is it left to the individual member of staff as to decide what instruction to give ? Obviously something is lacking somewhere.
  15. If the wind drops you could try walking it through?
  16. The airdraft at Ludham Bridge from the top of the concrete walkway is 8ft, so if the water level is below that you may well be able to get through.
  17. Have recently sold my excellent Ernest Collins Bourne 35 ( White Emblem Class) New owner is also local. I think there is one under covers opposite Southgates in Horning which has not moved in some time. An enquiry at Southgates might be useful.
  18. Looks like an Ernest Collins 35, White Emblem class in a sorry state, what a shame.
  19. I saw from the Woodies show thread that you were at the meeting, as someone photo'd you at Stokesby at 12.33, We passed you well up the Ant at around 2.15pm. So you were pootling some!! Did you leave Beccles on Sunday?. Loved the bunting. Watersmeet, Collins 35.
  20. Hi Griff, We are about to sell our Ernest Collins 35, wooden top with GRP hull, 4 berth. All in excellent condition. We have had it for 23 years. If your friend is interested, please PM me for further info and phone number. Horning mooring available to rent to the new owner
  21. Did anyone else notice the pseudo machine gun and warning notice there at the weekend?
  22. Old age and arthritis, plus recent weather , is causing us to seriously think about selling our Collins 35 , which we have owned and loved for the last 23 years( E77 on the database). It may happen at the end of this season, or possibly next, but the time is rapidly approaching. The point of this notice is to give someone who might be looking for the "right boat" the "heads-up". The craft is kept in Horning and has a new wheelhouse cover, a new overall summer cover and a full winter canvas cover. Its present mooring will also be available for renting. Anyone seriously interested please PM me for more information. The boat is in excellent condition and receives admiring comments from passers by, so it is not at the budget end of the price range. Thank you for reading this and I look forward to showing interested parties aboard.
